    Ezekiel 5:5

EZEKIEL 5:5Thus sayeth the Lord God, this is Jerusalem: I have set

it in the midst of the nations and countries that are

round about her.One of the very chief thoughts of the Living God that flowsout of eternity is the thought of Jerusalem. Jerusalem isrelated to everything that is from above. Jerusalem was to be

a city on the earth that was to hold the heavens that areabove as a unique testimony. God wrote His name in itslandscape and its earliest origin can be traced to Abrahamin the slaughter of the kings. It is in this first picture ofJerusalem that we find Melchizedek who is the king ofJerusalem bringing forth bread and wine. This is an obviousshadow of the covenant that would be brought forth nearly2000 years later with Jesus and His disciples in the upperroom. Jerusalem as related to Melchizedek was a place of

priesthood. Jerusalem was to be a place of covenant andpriesthood. With priesthood comes a tabernacle, and with atabernacle comes the presence of the Almighty. It is here inJerusalem that we first see men tithe as Abram tithed into

the high priesthood of Melchizedek. Jerusalem had ancientMesopotamia, (Babylon and Assyria), to its north andEgypt to its south. To its north lay Asia and Europe, to itssouth lay Africa. To its east is the ancient worlds of caste

systems and dynasties, and to its west would arise the newworld. It is in the center of continents, cultural worlds, andin its origin was surrounded with polytheism. God broughtIsrael into existence to drive out Amorites, Perizzites,

Jebusites, Canaanites, Gergashites, Hivites, and Hittites thatHe might establish in Jerusalem a city to hold His presenceand a priesthood to minister before Him and to the nations.

JERUSALEM, A TROUBLE SOURCE TO ALL

NATIONSThe Almighty God stretched forth the heavens, andsextillions of stars with planets surrounding them. He set afoundation in the earth. When Abraham looked for a citythat was architected by God, he looked for a city with

foundations. God also formed the spirit of man within him. There is much great revelation in what I have just written. I

could expound many hours on the beginning of thisparagraph, however, God desires to state something throughwhich you read about His comprehensive thought in

Jerusalem. Hear the words of the Lord in Zechariah 12:2.Behold I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto allpeople. As I write this men from the cradle of civilizationwhose roots can be traced to Ur, the great melting pot city ofancient Mesopotamia, struggle with men from the newworld over its existence. Towers of prosperity have comedown and brought the whole worlds attention to the struggleover Jerusalem.

JERUSALEM, A BURDENSOME STONE TO ALL

PEOPLEGods words are always so powerfully true. In Zechariah12:3 it states, And in that day will I make Jerusalem a

burdensome stone for all people; all that burden themselveswith it shall be cut in pieces though all the people of theearth be gathered together against it. Do we not see nationsbeing cut to pieces? When Osama Ben Laden, the Edomite, came out with a message and his image went across

televisions throughout the world, his chief proclamation wasthat we will attack the United States until the Palestiniansand not the Jews occupy Jerusalem. He likewise statedbecause the USA supports Jerusalem, we will be subject toattacks. Because Afghanistan hides the Edomite and theTalaban has troubled themselves with Jerusalem, it is beingcut in shreds. All nations on earth that trouble themselveswith Jerusalem will be cut in pieces. As I write this, I cantell you that many Muslims that are well funded are withinthis nation planning to cut it to pieces for our support ofJerusalem. I personally know of an Arab family in NewJersey from my home town that warned their Americanneighbors not to fly out of Newark International Airport onSeptember 11th. They pleaded with their neighbors not tofly that day and changed their minds so that they postponedtheir flights. On September 11th, when the World TradeTowers crumbled and were cut to pieces, the American

family notified the FBI. When the FBI went to the Arabfamily home, they were gone and had left everythingbehind. They remain hidden in our nation. And this is onlyone account that I personally know of. Jerusalem has

become a burdensome stone to the United States and to thewhole world just as God through his prophet had spoken.

UNDERSTANDING THE WILD MAN ISHMAELIn the book of Galatians Paul, as Jesus formed Revelationwithin his ministry, expounded about Jerusalem in a veryprofound manner. Do endeavor to understand what is aboutto be written. He speaks of Abraham in a way as if Abrahamand what works within his life is Jerusalem. In Abraham onecan see the whole spiritual history of Jerusalem prewritten.

This is Gods way, He is everlasting to everlasting. By theHoly Spirit Paul tells us that Abraham had two sons. Onewas born of a bondwoman. The bondwoman was a slave.

The bondwoman was Abram and Sarais expression ofendeavoring to do Gods intended will by their ownstrength. The bondwoman represents the law. Thebondwoman is Hagar the mother of Ishmael. Ishmael is thewild man. The wild man is born out of Abram and Saraiserving God by the power of flesh. This is the crisis ofChristiandom today. Christian churches may not follow theTen Commandments, but they do follow many forms of law,and the end result is always the same. Something comesforth of the flesh that cannot be controlled. Ishmael wasborn of the fleshly choice of a man and woman of God whowere called for Gods purpose. But in an allegory, they

attempted to fulfill the will of God by their own flesh andits ingenuity. The result was Ishmael, and the proclamationfrom the angel of the Lord from nearly 4000 years agoremains true today. His name will be called Ishmael, hewill be a wild man, his hand will be against every man, and

every mans hand against him, Genesis 16:12. Now do thinkabout this. The Arab world proclaims that they are thedescends of Abraham, Ishmael, and Esau. Esau is Edom, and Edom is Saudi Arabia.Osama Ben Laden, the Edomite, the wild man, whom everymans hand is against, and his hand is against every man, asit relates to Jerusalem. What we see in the political realm ofmen is also true in the church. The Pharisees and Saduceesconstantly read the scriptures, but when confronted with thereality of a chosen Son they rose up to persecute Him andeventually kill Him. The chosen Son Jesus constantly spoketo them, Have you not read, have you not read that thesescriptures that you read testify of me? The wild man of theflesh must always persecute the son of man who is thechosen son that is free. Galatians 4:29 says But as then hethat is born after the flesh persecuted him that was born afterthe spirit, even so it is now.

SPIRITUAL TERRORISTS: MEN WHO SERVE GOD

BY THE LAWWe have looked at Abrams one son Ishmael, but there isanother son who was born of the free woman. This free

woman is a type of the bride and body of Christ growing upinto the headship of grace, and not the law fulfilled by theworking of the flesh. The church, like Sarai, is to be a placewhere the Son, who is the Living Word, and the seed ofAbraham forms within it. The Apostle Paul, by the Spirit ofIntercession, cried out that Jesus Christ would be fullyformed in the church. Isaac would have been formed inSarais womb by the Living Word of God and His PromisedWord coming out of eternity if they had merely waited.

Isaac in Sarai represents a new covenant, a covenant notbased in law, but based in the word coming out of eternity.Abram and Sarais flesh could not bring forth a chosen son,

but it took the eternal word bringing about formation in thatplace where it was impossible to form, the womb of a 90year old woman. Isaac is a picture of miraculous birth. Isaacis a son who has a servant that brings a bride to him from aforeign land. Isaac is to be taken to Temple Mount to besacrificed. Isaac is a shadow of Jesus Christ who was bornmiraculously, whom the Holy Spirit calls out and draws outa bride for, and who took a farther step than Isaac did inbeing sacrificed. When we try to bring about the formationof Jesus Christ by our strength and by the laws of religiousorganizations, we become wild men of the flesh and not menof the eternal word that comes out of eternity to form Gods

Son within us. The flesh can only lust against the Spirit andthe Spirit against the flesh. They are contrary to one another, and that which is born of flesh must persecute that which isof Spirit.

JERUSALEM OUR MOTHERThe Arab has always answered to Jerusalem as have all thenations. Consider the invading forces. Assyrians,Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Turks, Crusaders,Arabs. These have all invaded Jerusalem and over run it.They have to answer to Jerusalem. The earthen Jerusalemremains in bondage because all of the Arab children desireto invade it and push every Jew into the Mediterranean. They desire inheritance. Abrams sons Ishmael and Esauhave to go back to their father Abram, who is a prototype ofthe city. There is a deep parallel in the church world. Thereis a cry to look unto Abraham who is the father of us all. Butto follow after Abrams chosen son as sons born of fleshlychoice creates a great dilemma in the church. Have you evernoticed how much the church is run by fleshly choices, butyet the church wants to run into the calling of God. Goddesires the church to come out of eternity, out of the bosomof Jesus, as a

new creation like a Jerusalem holding that which is of theheavens in the earth but not being of earthen origin. Aneternal treasure in earthen vessel if you would. God desiresHis church to be in Jerusalem. In Hebrews he writes that we

have come to the Heavenly Jerusalem. In Galatians he tellsus that the Jerusalem that is above is our mother. InRevelation He states that to be an overcomer, Jerusalemmust be written upon our foreheads. He likewise states thatcentral to Jerusalem for all of eternity will be a city with atemple not needing light for the temple is the Lord GodAlmighty and the Lamb. What a contrast between the twochurches in the earth. One serving by law endeavoring toterrorize the Jerusalem that is above, and one serving by a

new creation holding things written in eternity upon thespirits of just men cleansed by the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Achurch that comes out of eternity in the Living Word of

Revelation. A church that is mothered by the Jerusalem thatis from above. The heavenly country Abraham looked forand found in a heavenly priesthood. A church divinelyarchitected without the will of mens flesh.

A STARTLING BURDEN FROM EZEKIELIf you have ever personally met me you know that I have avery deep love for the Book of Ezekiel. Ezekiel starts withGod coming out of eternity riding a Throne, being pulled byCherubims, the wheels of His Throne are full of eyes. Before Ezekiels eyes God came bearing His heart to theprophet. At a later time God comes in the same way to himspeaking about how mans image in created things have

come to rest against His threshold to bring grief to Him whohas no image in created things. God then states, Should Ithen not go far away from my sanctuary? Later in Ezekiel10:19 the glory of the Lord departs from off of the thresholdof the house. If one reads this in spirit, one can almost find a

longing in God not to leave and take His presence back tothe heavens where he had come from. Tragically in Ezekiel10:22, 23 we find the departure of Gods glory fromJerusalem and the temple that He had visited from itsinception with Solomon is now void of His glory. The HolyGod has left His temple. The eastern gate is shut up, thetemple is soon taken away, and the Jew waits for the easterngate to open up with the return of the Messiah. Likewise,God had given a warning and parallel burden to Jeremiahconcerning Gods judgement which Ezekiel saw. Jeremiahgave warnings in the fifth chapter of his book, thatculminate with God asking the incredible question of thetemple, Do you not fear me?

THE DEEPEST JUDGMENT THAT HAS BEGUN

WITH THE CHURCHJeremiah described the temple of his time in this way, Foramong my people are found wicked men. They lay wait and

set snares, they set traps to catch men: as a cage is full ofbirds so are their houses full of deceit, therefore, they arebecome great and wax rich. Let me ask you this question.Do you not see this condition all across America? Recently

there has been a great emphasis on pointing out the materialblessing as the approval of God and as long as there ismaterial blessing everything else can be overlooked. I havepersonally watched Christians trade in their relationshipwith God, passing over blatantly dishonest and hypocriticalstandards by bending their laws to

appease their conscience. Tremble and watch what God saysthrough Jeremiah. They overpass the deeds of the wicked.

prosper. Shall I not visit for these things sayeth the Lord?Shall not my soul be avenged? A wonderful and horrible

thing is committed in the land, the prophets prophesyfalsely, and the priest bear rule by their means and my

people love to have it so and what will you do in the end?Do you know that many bodies of Christians in Americahave forsaken the Word and altars of prayer and now followmaterial blessing rather than repentance? Recently one well

known man of God made a statement along this line, that hedidnt have time for prayer and the word because he was toobusy writing checks. Another pastor took five offerings inone service and the only time he could give for thepreaching of the word was five minutes. As we see theworld hurling toward the great tribulation, the Esau type

church fails to realize that there is coming a judgment that isbeginning with the house of God. And that judgment likeancient Israel is the removal of Gods presence and Wordwithout their even being aware that God is no longer there.

THE LIFTING OF GODS PRESENCE FROM THE

    GIFTED

UNCRUCIFIED CHURCH WORLDThere is perhaps nothing more frightening than watchingcompromise becoming judgment. In ancient Israel, beforethe captivity, when the descendents of Abraham, andIshmael the wild man answered to Jerusalem, and the holesof compromise cracked open Jerusalems walls, it causedeverything that was related to worship to be carried awayinto Babylon. Think with me of those whom God lifted hispresence from. Do you remember I Samuel 16:12-15, howSaul who forsook the shadow of the cross and faced theultimate judgment when Gods Holy Spirit left him? Or howabout in Revelation, where Jesus gives admonishment toSardis to strengthen the things about to die. Perhaps youremember Ephesus who the Lord warned that the churchwould be removed unless it repented. Do you know therehas been no church in Ephesus for multiplied centuries?Does the church think that it can compromise and think that

it can be joined to life from above? Samson is a classicexample as he lay with Delilah of Sorek and allowed her toplay with his temples and hair, as the power of God abodewith him. But as her compromising voice penetrated his

being, he soon surrendered the mystery of his relationshipwith God. When the time of judgment came, Judges 16:20tells us that Samson said, I will go out as in other timesbefore, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lordwas departed from him. When Gods judgment came uponSamson whose strength came from above, he would lose hiseyesight, which in shadow is the lesson, that if our eyes arenot above we cannot see if the presence of God has left us.These examples are startling examples of judgment

beginning in the house of God. If there is to be a new greatawakening for America, it will come not because we haverested our head on the lap of uncrucified ease where Jesus

Christ is not formed, but it will come because of a deeprepentance and a heart cry that Gods presence will not leavebut change us.
