The are plenty of good accounts on the net as regards events surrounding the killing of 13 people at a GAA match held in Croke Park on Sunday the 21st of November 1920. Although the Auxiliaries are blamed for the killings all the eyewitness accounts of the events state that it was ordinary Police who did most of the shooting. The names and addresses of the 13 people who died either in Croke Park or as a result of injuries received during the shooting are:

Feeney Michael, Smith’s Cottages, Gardiner’s Place, Dublin. Hogan Michael, Grangemockler, County Tipperary. Matthews James, 42 North Cumberland Street, Dublin. O’Dowd Jeremiah, Buckingham Street, Dublin. O’Leary Jeremiah, 69, Blessington Street, Dublin. Robinson William, 15 Little Britain Street, Dublin. Ryan Thomas, Viking Road, Dublin. Scott John W, 15 Fitzroy Avenue, Drumcondra, Dublin. Teehan James, Green Street, Dublin. Taynor J, Clondalkin, County Dublin.

One of the players, Michael Hogan, was killed, the Hogan Stand is named after him. The part in the Michael Collins film where the Armoured Car drives on to the pitch did not happen in the real event. The armoured Car remained outside the grounds of Croke Park through the event.
