Natürlich gibt es auch viel Neues über unsere wunderschönen Hotels in Wien zu berichten, in denen ich Sie hiermit ganz herzlich begrüßen möchte. Unser drittes Hotel im Süden Österreich, das Lake’s - my lake hotel & spa in Pört-schach am Wörthersee hat derzeit für die Winterpause geschlossen. Aber auch dort wird schon jetzt eifrig an den Ideen und Innovationen für das nächste Jahr gearbei-tet und ab März ist das junge Haus am See wieder für Sie da.

Our third hotel in Austria, Lake’s - my lake hotel & spa in Pörtschach, on Lake Wörthersee in southern Austria, is currently closed for a winter break. But we are already busily working on ideas and innovations for the coming year, and from March the young hotel on the lake will open its doors to you again.

The kitchen follows the concept of aromatic cuisine, preparing high quality, seasonal products accented with essential oils, fresh herbs - and above all - the creative ideas of chef Daniel Kraft.

The restaurant’s name, AT EIGHT, refers to its address at Kärntner Ring number 8. We’re making a point of mentioning it here, because something’s awaiting you AT TWELVE as well… something that you won’t want to miss. Because, n addition to the main menu, which changes every three weeks or so, young chef Daniel Kraft is crafting a unique lunch special for his guests every day of the week.

Lunch menu daily specialA quick glance at the main menu of At Eight is sure to whet your appetite: goose liver brioche with watercress; truffle tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms, wild herbs, and pine nuts; and raspberry farmers cheese with chocolate dirt, raspberry-must sorbet, and mint pesto are just a few examples of the creative dishes you can explore.

Plus, every day at lunchtime, chef Daniel Kraft lets his imagination run wild and creates two surprise courses for only €15,00 per person. A restaurant dresses up for the eveningBut be forewarned! After your first visit to the restaurant, you may feel a desire to come back that same day… it really is that good. Do so and we promise you two things… One - you’ll be even more thrilled by the culinary creations. Two - you’ll find a totally different restaurant when you come back in the evening.

For just as people like to dress up for the evening, At Eight changes its look for the night-time hours as well. Every evening from 6pm, the restaurant greets its dinner guests with a fresh, super chic style… and this is how it’s done: At 3pm in the afternoon the blinds are drawn so that At Eight can get ready for the night. Mirrors appear, lamps are decorated, lit candles emerge and curtains unfurled to create a romantic mood.

The whole colour palette changes too. The fresh linden green that is so befitting for breakfast and lunch guests makes way for a far more dramatic red and violet in the evening. The secret behind the wow effect: colourful, tailored covers are slipped over the chairs, instantly giving the room a pompous appearance. Thus an atmosphere is created that is far more intimate than the ambience at breakfast and lunch needs to be.

But regardless of which outfit the restaurant is wearing when you come to savour the experience of food - whether it’s a dressing gown, a lunchtime business outfit, or chic evening attire… there’s no question that At Eight’s most beautiful adornment are its guests.

(In)Fusion in der Drings BarHier verschmilzt einfach alles: Der Ring mit dem Drink, der Gast mit der Nacht, das Internationale mit dem Familiären, der Wodka mit dem Geschmack. (In)Fusion lautet das neue Motto der Drings Bar im The Ring, Vienna’s Casual Luxury Hotel. „Wir sind schon jetzt in der ganzen Stadt bekannt für unsere große Wodka-Auswahl“, erklärt der neue Barchef des Drings, der Tiroler Markus Brunner. „Aber das war mir nicht genug, ich wollte unseren hochwertigen Wodka-Spezialitäten und der Bar noch das gewisse Extra hinzufügen. Im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes.“

Die Inspiration dafür fand er am unmittelbar hinter dem Hotel gelegenen Wiener Naschmarkt. Dieser Traditionsmarkt blickt auf eine jahrhundertelange Geschichte zurück und lädt bei jedem Besuch zu einer kulinarischen Reise um die Welt ein. Gewürze, Früchte, Kräuter, Gemüse, kurz, Spezialitäten aus aller Herren Länder können dort gustiert, probiert und gekauft werden. Eine solcherart kulinarische Rundreise hat Markus Brunner kurzerhand in eine hochprozentige Versuchsreihe umgewandelt. „Gemeinsam mit meinem Team habe ich Wodka mit verschiedenen interessanten Aromen angesetzt. Aus diesen Versuchen entstand im Lauf der Zeit unser heute so beliebter Infusion Wodka.“

Je nach Jahreszeit wechseln sich seither exotische Kombinationen wie Chilli-Himbeer-, Litschi-Rose-, Orange-Zimt- oder Vanille-Schokoladen-Wodka auf der Karte ab. „Der schönste Lohn für die Entwicklungsarbeit war, dass unsere Gäste die Infusion Drinks sofort begeistert angenommen haben und neue Kreationen immer stark gefragt sind“, freut sich Brunner. „Das spornt uns enorm an, immer aufregendere Infusionen zu erfinden.“

Aber auch abseits des Wodka-Schwerpunkts will Markus Brunner das Angebot des Drings so abwechslungsreich wie nur möglich halten. Neben der klassischen Cocktailkarte und österreichischen und internationalen Weinen, wird auch jeweils ein spezieller Cocktail der Woche offeriert. Der geht meist Hand in Hand mit einer Frucht der Woche, die sich in mehreren Details in der Bar wiederfindet.

Liebe zum Detail ist es auch, was dem Barchef für „seine“ Bar wichtig ist. Daher werden die treuesten Fans über eine eigene Facebook-Seite auf dem Laufenden gehalten, Themenabende wie etwa Halloween stehen das ganze Jahr über auf dem Kalender.

Nach seinen Plänen fürs Drings befragt, muss Markus Brunner nicht lange überlegen: „Ich möchte, dass sich unsere Gäste bei uns wohl fühlen. Zugegeben, das ist wohl ein Wunsch, der für jede Bar der Welt Gültigkeit hat, aber durch unsere Lage in der Innenstadt und unsere Funktion als Hotelbar sind wir in einer besonderen Situation. In unserer Bar treffen internationale Hotelgäste auf Wiener Stammgäste, Businessgäste aus den umliegenden Unternehmen können gut und gerne neben internationalen Rockstars landen, die mit ihrer Crew feiern. (In)Fusion at Drings BarEverything melts together here: The Ring with the drink, the guest with the night, the international with the familiar… and the vodka with flavour. (In)Fusion is the new motto of the trendy Drings Bar at The Ring, Vienna’s Casual Luxury Hotel.

“We were already known around the city for our giant vodka selection,” says Tyrol-born Markus Brunner, the new head barman at Drings. “But that wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to add a little something to our high quality vodka specialties and outstanding bar.”

He found the inspiration right behind The Ring Hotel at Vienna’s Naschmarkt. A traditional outdoor food market that has been around for centuries, it offers a culinary journey around the globe on every visit. From spices to fruits, herbs, and vegetables, you can taste, sample, and buy specialties from all over the world here. It was one of those culinary journeys that gave Markus Brunner the idea to launch a series of high-proof experiments. “Together with my team, I started to create vodka infusions with all kinds of interesting aromas. In time, these experiments evolved into our popular infusion vodkas.”

Depending on the season, the menu now includes exotic vodka flavours like chili-raspberry, litchi-rose, orange-cinnamon, and vanilla-chocolate. “The best reward for the development efforts was that our guests were immediately thrilled with our infusion drinks. New creations are always very popular,” says Brunner. “Needless to say, their enthusiasm motivates us to keep inventing even more exciting infusions.”

But even beyond the vodka focus, Brunner wants to keep the selection at Drings as varied as possible. Alongside the classic cocktail menu and an extensive list of Austrian and international wines, he also offers a special cocktail every week. Usually, it echoes the theme of the fruit of the week that reoccurs in various guises within of the bar’s menu.

Love of detail is what counts for the new head barman as well. He keeps the bar’s most loyal fans up to date on his own Facebook page, and special theme nights like Halloween take place throughout the year.

When asked about his plans for the future at Drings, Markus Brunner responds without hesitating: “I want our guests to feel comfortable. Sure, that’s something every bar in the world wants to accomplish, but thanks to our location in the inner city and our function as a hotel bar, we are in a special situation. At our bar, international hotel guests meet Viennese regulars, business guests from companies based in the area may end up sitting next to international rock stars who come here to celebrate with their crews.
