1K OF GAY Australia’s Pride Train “The Ride To Pride’ is
hitting the rails in March 2015 taking a capacity
crowd to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi
Gras. This is our private train made up of
carriages from the famous ‘Southern Aurora’, the
Blue Zephy and Ritz River Railroad.
Serviced by 80 LGBTI and LGBTI friendly staff,
there is no gayer way to travel to Mardi Gras.
With on train Bars, Lounges, Dining carriages
awesome accommodation and entertainment,
this is the ultimate way to travel.
Celebrate as we cross the border, watch out
New South Wales, Victoria is on its way.
We will arrive at Sydney Central Station in grand
style fit for a King, Queen or Princess. Come as
you are, grab your bag , the journey is just as
important as the destination.
Why a Train? There are many in the LGBTI
community who would love the opportunity to
travel to Mardi Gras, unfortunately the big brands
out there see this as a time to “cash in” and raise
the price substantially for flights, accommodation
and all other services.
We think this is unfair. With our train, we are able
to have set prices and keep them that way, it is a
fair and easy way to get to Mardi Gras, from the
heart of Melbourne to the heart of Sydney, there
is no better way to get from A-B.
Less stress, more fun and many happy times.

14
Questions & Answers Q: Where can I smoke?
A: Guests are unable to smoke onboard the train; it is a state law that all trains are No Smoking. We acknowledge that a
large segment of our LGBTI community smoke therefore we have built in special stops throughout the journey for this pur-
pose.
Q: I’m travelling with friends; can we have cabins near each other?
A: Once you have made your online reservation, give our reservations department a call on: 0413 154 594
We will endeavor to issue you a cabin next to or as close to your friends as possible.
Q: I live in a town you are passing through? Can I join the train? A: Absolutely, we are able to pick up passengers in the following towns: Seymour, Benalla, Albury, Wagga Wagga, Cootamundra, Goulburn Q: I am booking Gold Pride Service, My friends are in Silver Pride Service, can I visit them? A: We are one big inclusive group of people and we love to be social and interact, however because our train is so very long (1km in length) operationally there needs to be a power carriage in between the Gold and Silver sections of the train. Unfortu-nately guests are unable to travel through this carriage. It is not that we don’t want you to mingle but operationally we are limited by the size of train. Q: How do we know what is happening?
A: With thanks to our awesome sponsors TELSTRA, The ‘Ride To Pride’ Mardi Gras will have a purpose built applica-
tion that will be available for download prior to the trip on both the Apple and Android platforms. This APP will be your com-
munication key to the journey, with updates on service times, arrival times, delays, smoke breaks and more. This APP will
also function in a way that will empower you to know what is happening at Mardi Gras, shuttle service announcements, event
times, the list goes on. For those guests without smart phone functionality, a SMS service will alert you to all the messages
throughout the weekend. Never miss an event or be out of the loop.
Q: Cash or Card? A: There will be limited EFTPOS facilities on board the train, we recommend that you bring a selection of cash and cards with you. Q: Alcohol?
A: Each of the Bars will be run by suitability qualified staff, all Beer, Wine and base Spirits will be capped at $5 each. Bar
times will be announced by the On Train App in accordance with the assigned liquor license. There is absolutely NO BYO on
the train at any time. We have purposely kept the price of drinks down as it is important to us that guests are not charged
large premiums for food or beverages, there simply is no need.
Q: Is Tea/Coffee readily available?
A: There will be a number of self serve stations in both Gold Pride & Silver Pride sections of the train offering a selection of
Tea and Instant Coffee for guests. Gold Pride service will have the added bonus of a on board barista.
Q: Access To Food whilst travelling:?
A: Each Bar will stock a selection of Hot and Cold food, snacks and drinks at reasonable prices.
Unfortunately there will be NO opportunity for guests to seek alternative food arrangements whilst we are travelling between
Melbourne and Sydney. You are welcome to bring on board snacks if you wish however we are unable to reheat items.
Q: I have a special dietary need, what can you do?
A: If you have a special dietary requirement, we ask that at the time of reservation to make this known. We will endeavor
to accommodate your requirements.
Q: Does the train have WIFI?
A: We are working with our sponsors TELSTRA to have WIFI hot spots set up in one lounge on both the Gold and Silver sec-
tions of the train. Guests will have limited data access (just like McDonalds) so this service will be great for checking Face-
book or reading emails whilst on board. During certain parts of the journey, mobile coverage may be limited and the ser-
vice may be down for short periods.
Q: Why a train and why Mardi Gras?
A: There are many in the LGBTI community who would love the opportunity to travel to Mardi Gras, unfortunately the big
brands out there see this as a time to “cash in” and raise the price substantially for flights, accommodation and all other ser-
vices. We think this is unfair. With our train, we are able to have set prices and keep them that way, it is a fair
and easy way to get to Mardi Gras, from the heart of Melbourne to the heart of Sydney, there is no better way
to get from A-B. Less stress, more fun and many happy times.

A small group of people set out to support
the LGBTI rural community the only way
they knew how, “On a Train”. The planning
was long and hard but the determination
and encouragement they received from
those around them was enough to keep
them powering on. Through opposition in
both the straight and gay world, hurdle
upon hurdle was overcome until there it
was - Australia’s First LGBTI Train. The first
train consisted of 101 passengers and a
very dedicated bunch of volunteer crew.
Nobody knew what would happen, we were
totally in the dark. Would the Bears not mix
with the Lesbians? Would some guests feel
uncomfortable and lock themselves away in
compartments? With the usual hiccups of
every first event the trip took on a whole
new meaning, hour by hour we grew
closer as a people, we mixed, we shared a
laugh and danced in the DJ carriage.
Nothing kept us down, we were from all
ends of the Rainbow, Lesbians to Bears,
Trans to Twinks and every sub group in be-
tween.
Finally, we were one people and we all had
this ‘Train’ to thank for it.
At least 70 percent of those staff on the
2015 Mardi Gras Train were passengers on
the first. We are a group of people who
believe in Individuality, Inclusiveness,
Friendship, Respect, Diversity and Pride.
We are not scared to show it.
We know that private train travel works for
our LGBTI community, it brings us together
and cuts through those many boundaries
that exist in the LGBTI world of today.
Be who you want to be and nobody gets left
behind is our mantra and we mean it.
Join us on the 2015 ‘Ride To Pride Mardi
Gras’ Train from Melbourne to Sydney, we
know in our hearts you will have the time of
your life.
