Preceded in the classrooms by a 5 day curriculum developed by TAMUCC students

The curriculum integrates explicitly Science TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills)

Involves learning about the solar system and what is required to travel and survive outside the Earth’s environment

At the conclusion of the 5th day curriculum children will build and launch stomp rockets

Raised over $ 1,000 dollar from local businesses to invite Astronauts

Visit goals include raising NASA visibility in South Texas with talks to students, faculty and community at large

Astronaut VisitAstronaut Visit

Two astronauts will visit TAMUCC campus in September of 2003

The children will share what they learned about space, ask questions and test their rockets with the astronauts

The stomp rocket activity was recently tested at a local science fair on TAMUCC campus with more than 100 children involved

watch T.V. for entertainment or educational use, often flicking through the channels looking for a picture of interest to come upon to watch

Strategy for communicating the message:– The best way to educate young adolescence and

teenagers is to ask them questions. The authority figure seems to be more open when asking the question, opposed to when giving a command
