Dear Members,
It is hard to believe that summer is just about over. The last open day for the Pool will be Monday, September 7th and I believe most kids are already back in school. As we move ahead with the change of seasons, we have an exciting line up of specials and events so please review the calendar and make your reservations now.
I also want to take a moment to assure our members that the owners of CCL are committed to providing you with a club that is aesthetically pleasing and well maintained in order to provide you and your family with a superior level of enjoyment and service. In conjunction with our Advisory Committee, we continue to monitor all aspects of our club, implementing prudent decisions to ensure the well-being of all members.
I am pleased to announce and welcome Anna Laurin as CCL’s new Media and Communications Director. Anna is a recent graduate of Kansas State University where she majored in Journalism and Mass Communications. She is also an active member of the Kansas Army National Guard. I’m sure you’ve noticed the new look of our Putter and Weekly Updates; we are very pleased to have this young lady on board! Please be sure to greet her and welcome her to the CCL family when you next stop by our club offices.
Our Fall Menu will debut later this month so please watch for it. The popularity of our dining areas and menu selections continues to grow and so we strongly recommend that members call ahead for reservations to ensure that we can seat and serve you in a timely manner. Some of our upcoming Calendar Events for September are as follows: Saturday, Sept. 5th is our Labor Day Pool Party & Buffet; Wednesday, Sept. 9th is Doggy Splash Down at the Pool; Sunday, Sept. 13th is our Chief’s Opening Day with .50 cent Wings; Thursday, Sept. 17th is the Chief’s Home Opener with Pizza/Beer/Chili specials.
In closing, I would just like to reiterate that at CCL the focus of our club’s business is people, specifically you, our members. We rely upon your patronage and work hard to provide an outstanding club experience for you at every visit. We consider ourselves fortunate to be of service to such a genuine group; you, our CCL family of members.
See you at the Club!

Golf CourseUpdate
Josh ThomasGolf Course Superintendent
September is always an exciting and busy month for the Golf Course Grounds department. September signifies the end of summer and good grass growing days. However, this is a busy month in regards to agronomic practices that are imperative to the overall health of your golf course.
Getting all of the important agronomic practices completed in a timely manner is a tough task with the smaller staff we have this time of year. This means detail work normally done during the week must be put to the side and accomplished as time allows, including string trimming, bunker edging, curb edging and sprinkler head trimming.
September is a great month of golfing weather and course conditions are always pretty solid.Greens aerification is sche duled for September 8th. This aerification will consist of a deep-tine, followed by a small
coring tine. The purpose of this aerification is to relive as much compaction as possible, while removing organic/thatch material, as well promoting good oxygen exchange within the root zone. This has been a long summer on our greens and they are definitely ready to “breathe” after this aerification.
We also begin the process of rough aerifying and re-seeding of thin areas. Along with aerifying cool-season turf areas, we put our final chemical and fertilizer applications on zoysia tees and fairways to prepare them for winter dormancy. In September we see zoysia growth begin to slow, which requires not as much mowing.
As always, we look forward to seeing you enjoying your great golf course. Please help us out by repairing ball marks on putting surfaces
Sincerely,
Josh ThomasGolf Course Superintendent

Fitness Schedule
Dear Friends,
August brought a few new faces to the Fitness Center and some “regulars” that I have missed. I am glad to see so many of you getting back into a routine as I know how great that feels.
You will now have an additional Spin and Strength class to choose from each week. Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. you can join Joni for 55 minutes of heart pounding, body sculpting fun! She will be using light dumbells while cruising at moderate R.P.M.s creating a total body workout! The three Aqua Fitness classes listed will only be held the first week of September.
Looking into the future, the Fitness Trainers will be offering more Small Group Training Sessions throughout the week for your convenience as well as pricing changes that will benefit you greatly!
I hope to see you in the Fitness Center soon!
