THE FUNCTIONALITY

SOLIDS CHAMBER

The waste water flows from the toilet to the filter basket and this filter basket retains the solid components. The mechanically treated waste water seeps to the fluid reactor because of gravity (vertical bioreactor) or by using a pumping device (underfloor bioreactor).

LIQUIDS CHAMBER

Using ventilation pipes, oxygen enters the fluid reactor and flows through the so-called fixed bed area, on which a biofilm has grown. After a defined period of time the biologically treated liquid is carried to the thermal hygienization unit.

DRAINING OF THE RESIDUAL WATER

Ultimately, this results in a liquid that is drained onto the rail tracks when travelling at a speed of > 5 km/h.The liquid draining of stationary rail cars is prevented, but the toilets can still be used without any restriction at the railway station and when the train is not moving.

MODELS OF THE BIOREACTOR

In general, there is a distinction between a vertical design and an underfloor design of the Protec system. The design of the plant can be modified according to the rail car specific installation site.

INSTALLATION OF OUR BIOREACTOR

Vertical: The treatment tank is installed in the rail car directly after the toilet system.

Underfloor: The Bioreactor is installed under the car body or below the toilet or somewhere near.

ADVANTAGES

Depending on the situation the higher acquisition costs of the biological system are amortized after just a few years because of the favorable operating costs and the small expenses for the waste management infrastructure.
