It is a long established
fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable
content of a page when looking at its layout. The
point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less
normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using
'Content here, content here', making it look like readable
English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors
now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum'
will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have
evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose

It is a long established
fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable
content of a page when looking at its layout. The
point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less
normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using
'Content here, content here', making it look like readable
English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors
now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum'
will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have
evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose

F6 1 THE SWAN BARCorner of Aungier/York Street, D2t. + 353 (0)1 475 2722, www.theswanbar.com, This icon of Irish licensed heritage has dispensed sustenance, shelter and social culture to the citizenry of Dublin for at least six centuries. Totally unique
amongst Dublin pubs, The Swan is an authentic Victorian pub that was once a medieval inn. There has been a continuous licence on this site since 1661 when Sir Francis Aungier developed what was then Dublin’s widest street. The interior dates from 1897 and is one of the few remaining intact Victorian bars left in the city. The pub has played a key role in the evolution of the Irish nation as the premises was occupied by the Irish volunteers
in 1916 and again by the anti-treaty forces in 1922. The pockmarks of artillery fire are still clearly visible on the exterior of the building. The pub was bought in 1937 by Cavan man John Lynch; his son Sean attained sporting fame playing rugby for Leinster, Ireland and The British and Irish Lions. He has the distinction of playing in all four tests in the only Lions team ever to beat the New Zealand All Blacks in the 1971 test series. The pub has a lot of Sean’s rugby memorabilia on display. Call in and experience The Swan which is unique among Dublin’s pub scene. Open Mon -Thurs and Sun 11am- 11pm. Fri & Sat 11am - 0.30am.

Their famous ex-employee, Oscar Wilde, graces the walls where he once stacked shelves. Located beside the three O’Callaghan hotels, there is always a serious
buzz at lunchtimes and after-work but you can always find somewhere to plonk yourself down and sip on a nice cold pint or one of their renowned Irish Coffees. Dublin’s many pubs vary in character and clientele. If it is atmosphere and nostalgia for Dublin’s past that beckons, there are an exclusive few that have survived revolution and
reconstruction, and remain a window into bygone days. Although many of Dublin’s oldest watering holes predate the Victorian era, it was the excesses of the Victorian Design Movement that have left their mark on some of Dublin’s most famous pubs. Characterized by wood panelling, elaborate carvings and unique original features in glass, brass and more, each pub has its own
history that resonates with the city’s own. The snug is a common feature, an area within the pub where privacy can be assured. Turf fires still welcome the weary drinker in many, and some still have the serving hatches from which women were served in a time when bars were essentially male bastions. As favoured meeting places of many of Ireland’s famous writers, revolutionaries, philosophers, actors, and musicians, each establishment has a story to tell.
