*"ery owner of a small business worries about the employees she$s responsible for of the

mouths they must feed and what it will take to keep them employed and out of po"erty.

And e"ery one of the +.% million unemployed citi,ens in our country feels a sense of betrayal.

They once had big dreams. Dreams that diminish with e"ery day that this 'resident remains

in office.

Madam Speaker our 'resident$s -uest for power has ne"er been about creating a more

prosperous South Africa.

#t has always been about creating a more prosperous acob /uma.

And here$s the thing0 the more prosperous acob /uma becomes and the more ob"ious his

failures are the more the A12 plays the race card to deflect legitimate criticism.

3acism is e"il and we must condemn it.

But it cannot be that if you are white and you don$t agree with the A12 you are called a

racist and if you are black you are called a sell&out.

These are hurtful insults in the conte4t of our history. They are designed to diminish the

A12$s opponents.

5hat the A12 doesn$t get is that e"ery time it plays the race card and labels its opponents

sell&outs it diminishes its own stature.

How can it be that an organisation that once produced the caliber of leaders like )li"er

Tambo 1elson Mandela and 5alter Sisulu has been reduced to this6

The A12 of today call us sell&outs but they don$t see that slowly but surely the people of

South Africa are beginning to realise who the real sell&outs are.

Because a sell&out is a person who puts his own interests before the struggle of his people7 a

person who secures an ad"antage for himself in other people$s suffering.

To deny your citi,ens their promised freedom so that you can carry on li"ing a life of

unimaginable lu4ury is surely the greatest act of treachery.

To unstitch our democratic 2onstitution thread by thread so that you and your friends can

loot at will is surely the ultimate betrayal.

8ou see Madam Speaker the biggest sell&out in our country is none other than the 'resident

himself.

acob /uma sold out when as Deputy 'resident he took a 39::::: bribe from Schabir

Shaik.

He sold out when he recalled a sitting State 'resident who stood in his way of absolute

power.

acob /uma sold out when he manipulated the 1ational 'rosecuting Authority to drop

charges on ;+< counts of corruption bribery money laundering and racketeering against him.

)n this "ery day the DA is fighting in court to ha"e these charges reinstated. Because you

cannot hide from !ustice simply because you are the 'resident.

acob /uma sold out when he disbanded the Scorpions because their independence was a

threat to him.

He sold out when he knowingly used public money to build his pri"ate house at 1kandla.

And he sold e"ery A12 M' down the ri"er when he went to court and rubbished the 1hleko

report that he pre"iously forced you to defend.

acob /uma sold out when he remo"ed an e4perienced Finance Minister so that he could

capture our Treasury for his personal benefit.

He sold out when he allowed his cosy network of friends and family to become fantastically

wealthy through unlimited access to go"ernment contracts and B** deals.

He sold all of us out to his friends the (uptas who ha"e built lucrati"e mining and media

empires at the e4pense of real Black *conomic *mpowerment.

And in selling us out to the (uptas he has allowed his family members = his son Dudu,ane

and his nephew >hulubuse = to hitch a ride on this train to instant wealth.

*"erything this man does is to protect himself his friends and his family at the e4pense of the

2onstitution his oath of office and the people of South Africa.

This is why under acob /uma more and more black South Africans are unemployed.

#t is why under acob /uma black children are suffering in an education system that renders

them si4 times less likely to attend uni"ersity than white children consigning them to a

lifetime of po"erty.

#t is why under acob /uma many of our townships ha"e murder rates that would place them

amongst the highest countries in the world.

#t is why under acob /uma the cities of *kurhuleni *ast ?ondon and ohannesburg are the

most une-ual in the world.

#t is why under acob /uma = according to an independent report released last week = ten out

of the ten worst municipalities are run by the A12.

And guess what6 1ine out of the ten best municipalities are run by the DA. This means that

where the DA go"erns there is less corruption more !obs and better ser"ice deli"ery for the

poor.

And the A12 has the audacity to call anyone a @sell&out.

5ho else must the 'resident sell out what else must he destroy before you will take a stand

against him6

Madam Speaker in times like these we need a 'resident who stri"es to hold our nation

together.

A 'resident with a "ision for a more prosperous South Africa for all who li"e in it.

A 'resident who stri"es to unite South Africans in building this inclusi"e and prosperous

country.

A 'resident with moral con"iction and an unshakeable sense of duty towards our country and

her people.

A 'resident who leads by e4ample.

A 'resident we can count on when times are tough.

#t is ob"ious to all that this 'resident is not acob /uma.

)ur duty today is to remo"e the man who has done so much to sell out our people.

8ou owe it to your country to support this motion today. 8ou owe it to the millions of South

Africans who are tired of waiting and hoping for a better life.

But if you won$t put your country first at least put your party first. Because you know as well

as # do that the longer acob /uma is in office the more support you will lose.

The people of South Africa ha"e lost confidence in the 'resident and the longer you protecthim the more c onfidence they will lose in you.

This is your chance to pro"e to the nation that the A12 is better than acob /uma.

This is your chance to pro"e that this once&proud liberation mo"ement has the capacity to

renew itself.

This is your chance to pro"e 'resident Thabo Mbeki wrong when he said0 @5hat we do

will define whether our organisation the A12 continues to maintain its noble character as a

ser"ant of all the people of South Africa or degenerates into an ignoble blood&sucking and

corrupt parasite an enemy of an immensely heroic people.

So ask yoursel"es do you want to be remembered as ser"ants of the people or sell&outs of

the people6

The choice is yours.
