The Perry Christian First Christian Church Disciples of Christ

As you know August, will be my last Sunday with you as I have completed my

interim ministry with you. While I will always hold you in my heart, thoughts, and

prayers, I will not be available for any type of pastoral care. I say this in love as

your new minister, Rev. Josh Bell, will begin his ministry with you on August 21st.

Please give him the opportunity to minister to you and be as gracious and support-

ive of him as you have been to me. It has been a great pleasure to have been your

interim pastor and I wish to thank you from the bottom of my heart for our time

together. I hope to see you this next Sunday.

You have many strengths and assets as a congregation. Working together and fol-

lowing the leadership of the Holy Spirit and your minister. While change can

bring anxiety, it allows us to push our self-imposed limits and grow. I think of you

when I read the words of St. Paul to the church of Ephesus. “ So then you are no

longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and

members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and

prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure

is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord;” Ephesians 2:19-21

RSV Rejoice because you have a great foundation that has been laid for you.

Therefore, you should allow your faith and service to be built upon that solid foun-

dation which God has blessed First Christian Church of Perry. I leave you with a

scripture that has kept me grounded in my ministry: “Trust in the LORD with all

your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge

God, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 RSV

With a thankful heart, Interim Pastor Don

Brick By Brick

A Brick Is Forever. . . .

We have an ongoing project

of filling a sidewalk running

north and south on the west

side of the church’s educa-

tion building with personal-

ized bricks. Several people

have marked their place in

Perry First Christian Church

history by engraving a brick

in the name of a loved one or

commemorating a

special event.

Youth News

Thank you to Joniece LeValley, Anglia

Klinglesmith, Nancy Frazier and Don

Bryant for helping with our Sunday even-

ing VBS . All of the children as well as their parents and oth-

ers adults enjoyed the stories of Jesus, the games, the crafts

and the good food. And even the field trip. (In the NEW

Van).
