"What I've Done“ by Linkin Park

In this farewell,There’s no blood,There’s no alibi.‘Cause I’ve drawn regret,From the truth,Of a thousand lies.

So let mercy come,And wash away…

What I’ve Done.I’ll face myself,To cross out what I’ve become.Erase myself,And let go of what I’ve done.

Put to rest,What you thought of me.While I clean this slate,With the hands,Of uncertainty.

So let mercy come,And wash away…

I'll start again,And whatever pain may come.Today this ends,I’m forgiving what I’ve done.

I’ll face myself,To cross out what I’ve become.Erase myself,And let go of what I’ve done.What I’ve done.

Follow the words as you listen to this song. •What is the singer struggling with?•What will he do to solve this problem?• Which is good advice to himself ? Which is not?

1. What do you do, if you find yourself regretting something and feeling guilty?

2. Why do you think we say a prayer of saying sorry at the start of mass?

I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters,

that I have sinned through my own fault,

in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,

therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints,

and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

1. write out and match with an arrow the explanations that go with the correct part of the prayer.

2. Explain what the prayer is about in your own words – use the boxes for info.

3. Which of these parts do you think is the most important to do? Why?

**How could it help to pray to Mary and the saints, at the end?

-Admitting the wrong to everyone around you – so you let go of shame.

-Recognise it to be your fault: not blaming others.

-Ask the saints for their prayers : to pray for you to God to live a better, sin free life.

-Admit that you have sinned in many different ways, not just by actions.

• IN the mass, our sins are forgiven through Jesus’ sacrifice. But we have to be willing to be sorry for them, and admit them. So the Mass starts with the Penitential Rite.

1. Why is the Penitential Rite at the beginning of the Mass?

2. What sort of things people might have to admit and say sorry to God for, before they take his body and blood? Give 3 examples.

**Just before we receive communion, we get another opportunity to say sorry to God. We say the words the Roman officer said to Jesus in the gospel. Look up Matthew 8:8. Write it out. What do we mean when we say it in mass?

“This is my blood, poured out for you and for many , for the forgiveness of sins”.

1. Draw arrow with 3 labels. 2. Work out which prayers go under which

headings. Write one next to each box**Why is Jesus the “Lamb of God”?

There is a kind of movement in the Mass, from• admitting sins, • to hoping for God’s forgiveness• to being forgiven and healed

1. May the sacraments we have received be for us a healing remedy and bring us to eternal life.

2. Lamb of God, have mercy on us. 3. Look not on our sins, but on the faith

of your Church.4. I confess that I have sinned..5. Lord, I am not worthy to receive you,

but only say the word, and I shall be healed.

6. ...as I eat your body and drink your blood, let it not bring me condemnation, but health in mind and body.

Admit Wrong-doing(Penitential rite)

Hope God will show

forgiveness

Receive God’s forgiveness in Jesus
