Letter From the Executive Director Dear Members, “It takes a village….” to get things done. Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped on our Off the Wall fundraiser! We could not have done it without you. If each member took a turn giving us an hour or two of their time, every event and project would run very smoothly without burdening a few to do it all. This spring we will be looking for volunteers to work at Art in the Village and several exhibits will need to be hung and organized. Take your turn and let us know when you are available. Art in the Village is a great opportunity to sell your work. It is Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25 from 10 to 4PM each day. We attract thousands of people who come to the Village to see what is on display and who buy many things. Get together with a group of artists and put up a tent…take turns selling….sharing makes it easier to accomplish. Get your name and your work out there. Applications for tent space is in the office and online under Events. We also need people to find exciting silent auction items, and manning our booth. Let us know if you can help. New members, we invite you to get involved as well. This is a good way to meet fellow members and spend time getting to know what our organization accomplishes. Letter From the Executive Director

Dear Members, “It takes a village….” to get things done. Thanks to all of the volunteers who

helped on our Off the Wall fundraiser! We could not have done it without you. If

each member took a turn giving us an hour or two of their time, every event and

project would run very smoothly without burdening a few to do it all. This

spring we will be looking for volunteers to work at Art in the Village and several

exhibits will need to be hung and organized. Take your turn and let us know

when you are available.

Art in the Village is a great opportunity to sell your work. It is Saturday, June 24

and Sunday, June 25 from 10 to 4PM each day. We attract thousands of people

who come to the Village to see what is on display and who buy many things. Get

together with a group of artists and put up a tent…take turns selling….sharing

makes it easier to accomplish. Get your name and your work out there.

Applications for tent space is in the office and online under Events.

We also need people to find exciting silent auction items, and manning our

booth. Let us know if you can help. New members, we invite you to get involved

as well. This is a good way to meet fellow members and spend time getting to

know what our organization accomplishes.

Our fundraisers help to pay the bills and support CCAA. Participate …you will

feel very good about it. And of course, it gives you an invitation to our Members

Holiday Luncheon.

Congratulations Kathleen Timmins!

Thank you for

sharing with us.

How did you discover your talent for your medium? It has been an artistic journey to watercolor painting. As a teacher and Director of Art for over 30 years I explored a variety of avenues in art making including drawing, printmaking, quilting, clay work and mixed media. Just after my retirement, a friend suggested we take a watercolor class just for fun. It was and still is fun and enjoyable, and the only media I am currently working in. Which Artist(s) has influenced you most? As many others have been, I was influenced by Sargent, Homer, Cassatt, and Wyeth. I'm particularly grateful for attending that first watercolor painting class with Plymouth watercolorist, Andrew Kusmin. He has been mentoring students of all levels with his unique style, artistic

FEATURED ARTIST OF THE MONTH

“My Mother Taught Me To Sew” , by Kathleen Timmins, watercolor

What do you enjoy the most about working in this medium? In watercolor painting it has been a challenge to control the medium and at the same time allow some unexpected things to occur on the paper. I like painting directly with a minimum of drawing, then adding glazes of transparent color. How do you describe your artwork? Searching for ideas for paintings I am always looking for the light and how it can enhance the subject or mood of my work. It is important to me to paint images that I’m familiar with, striving for the result to be authentic and believable to the viewer. Is there anything you want people to take away from your work? I would hope that the viewers of my work would enjoy a small piece of the world as seen from my point a view.

Kathleen Timmins

Apart from creating things, what do you do? At this time I continue to learn from each painting I complete, successfully or not. In addition to painting I achieve enormous pleasure from living on Cape Cod and working in my garden where I find many inspiring subjects. And once a teacher always a teacher, I teach part time during the school year. Summers off of course!
