How will the value of your life be measured?
It will not matter what you bought, but what you built. Not what you got, but what you gave. Not your success, but your significance. Not what you learned, but what you taught. What will matter, is every act of integrity, courage, compassion, or sacrifice that enriched, empow-ered, or encouraged oth-ers to emulate your ex-ample. What will matter is not your competence, but your character……not how many people you knew, but how many will feel a lasting loss when you’re gone. What will matter is not your memories, but the memories that will live in those who loved you.
Wednesday, February 8, 2012 Speaker—UNM Coach, Bob Davie Our guest speaker for Wednesday, February 8th will be University of New Mexico football coach, Bob Davie. Coach Davie has been a college football analyst on television since 2002. He has served as the lead analyst on ABC
Saturday Night Primetime college football telecasts, as well as ESPN and ESPN2 Saturday Night Primetime games. Prior to that, Davie served as head coach at the University of Notre Dame for
five seasons (1997-2001). He was defensive coordinator for three years (1994-96) with the Fighting Irish under head coach Lou Holtz before taking over the program in 1997. Davie spent nine years as an assistant coach at Texas A&M University (1985-93) under head coaches Jackie Sherrill (1985-

linebackers coach for Sherrill and was promoted
to defensive coordinator and assistant head coach under Slocum. He also served as assistant head coach/defensive coordinator at Tulane
(1984-85) and linebackers coach at the University of Pittsburgh (1980-82) and the University of Ari-zona (1978-79).
In 25 years of coaching, Davie has been a part of teams that have compiled a combined record of 202-93-4. He has coached in 18 bowl games, in-
cluding the Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl and Cotton Bowl. Davie had a 35-25 career record at Notre Dame,
leading the Irish to three bowl games and taking the program to its first-ever BCS postseason game, the 2001 Fiesta Bowl. He also was the first
coach to lead Notre Dame to a bowl game in his first season. Year in and year out, Notre Dame plays one of the toughest schedules in the nation.
During Davie’s tenure, 19 of those games were against Top-25 foes and 52 of the 60 were against BCS foes. Seven of the other eight were
against service academies and one was against another non-BCS foe. Davie also has been a two-time finalist for a Na-
tional Coach of the Year award (by the Walter Camp Foundation and Football News). Also while at Notre Dame, Davie earned an
American Football Coaches Association Award for Academic Achievement in 2001 as his team had a 100 percent graduation rate.
Davie has been hailed as a defensive master-mind. In 1996, Davie oversaw a Notre Dame de-fense that held opponents to 270 yard of total of-
fense per game and set a school record with 41 quarterback sacks for the season. During the 1991, 1992 and 1993 seasons, Davis’ “Wrecking
Crew” defenses at Texas A&M led the Southwest Conference in all four major statistical categories – total defense, scoring defense, rush defense
and pass defense. The Aggies were the only team in the history of the conference to accom-plish that feat. The 1991 Texas A&M led the na-
tion in total defense. Current NFL players Davie has coached include New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck,
Green Bay Packers running back Ryan Grant, Miami Dolphins tight end Anthony Fasano, Tampa Bay Buccaneers center Jeff Faine and
