Inspiration For The Week Are we willing to be taught by God? If we are, then we will begin to see things and make judgments using a Divine lens. Often, we perceive things with purely human eyes and reference points. When we do this, reality can lose its Divine spark and we miss what God is trying to say. When using human eyes exclusively, Jesus is at best perceived simply as a prophet who has some wise things to say. The human element has a difficult time seeing Jesus’ divinity and recognizing Him as the Bread of Life that comes down from heaven. We can easily get stuck on Jesus’ human associations and overlook the marvelous wonders God wants us to see. If we really allow ourselves to be taught by God, we will then come to see the truth about Jesus and the abundant everlasting life God offers. Jesus becomes the key that unlocks all of our relationships: with God, others, ourselves, and creation. He, as the true and lasting bread from heaven, shows us the gifts of faith, hope, and love that God bestows on us. Through this divine lens we see that all life sparkles and glows with God’s love.

The Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sunday, August 8th at 9:00 a.m. Will be Live-Streamed at

StPeterCatholicChurch.org

RCIA MEET and GREET Sunday, August 29th

Do you attend St. Peter’s Church and want to explore our Catholic faith in more depth? Or do you know someone who has questions about Catholicism or spirituality and is searching for answers? If you answered “yes,” you’re cordially invited to join us for RCIA Meet and Greet on Sunday, August 29th after the 9 o’clock Mass! Come learn what RCIA means and what the process involves! If you plan on being there, give Paul or Karyn a call at 847-337-5043.

Next Sunday, August 15th Catholics around the world will be honoring the

Solemnity of our Blessed Mother’s Assumption into Heaven!

In anticipation of the Holy Day of Obligation, we invite you to watch a short video presented by St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology. Simply go to our parish website and click on the banner found at the top of the page. Then sit back and listen to Dr. Scott Hahn, a convert to Catholicism and one of the most important apologists of our time, explain how befitting it is that God would assume our Mother’s body and soul into Heaven!

Early in the morning of July 31st, Dolores Trzaskowski

received the ultimate healing from God. In Christian charity, pray for her

eternal rest and the consolation of Ted and their family.

Eternal rest grant unto Dolores O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon her. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen

The Knights of Columbus invite you to join them for Breakfast next Sunday, August 15th, right after the 7:00 & 9:00 am Masses! Your Free Will Offering will be appreciated and is used to support our seminarians, 1st Way Life Center, The Alexander Leigh Center for Autism in McHenry and many more!

Please Come and Enjoy!

Is God calling You to be a Eucharistic Minister to Homebound?

St. Peter’s is looking for individuals who attend Sunday Mass regularly, to be an Extraordinary

Minister for our Homebound parishioners. Just a few hours of your time on Sunday mornings can

bring a smile to someone. We are looking for volunteers after the 9:00 am Mass at least once a

month? Our Lord, wishes to come to all His children and, He needs us to help bring His Most Precious

Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Blessed Sacrament to our parishioners who are homebound.

Will you prayerfully consider serving our Lord by visiting His homebound children?

If so, please contact Steve at 847-207-6282

To know Sacred Scripture is to know Jesus Christ. It’s true! And we have an opportunity to study one of the most fascinating books of the bible, The Book of Revelation! Our next Adult Bible Study will begin on August 25th at 9:00 am, and will last for 11 weeks. Learn what the mysterious figures and images of Revelation mean, and how this book is a lot more than an apocalyptic vision of the ‘end times.’ Now is your chance to explore the Church’s teaching on the second coming of Christ and the Last Judgment. The title of this course is Revelation: The Kingdom Yet to Come and Jeff Cavins will be the presenter! And besides having Jeff as our guide, we’ve made it affordable, too. St. Peter’s is happy to cover half the cost of everyone’s workbook!

If you plan on being a part of class, Call Marcey in the parish office at 815-675-2288

and reserve your seat!

The only bipartisan tradition that has remained standing in Congress for the last 44 years, is the Hyde Amendment. That Amendment has protected American taxpayers from having to fund abortions but sadly, there are now those on the left side of the congressional aisle whose goal is to change that. Recently, Nancy Pelosi’s House passed the annual Labor-HHS appropriations bill without the Hyde Amendment for the first time in decades!

It is so important that all Christians learn the history of the Hyde Amendment and why it remains one of the most significant pieces of pro-life legislation in our country. We invite you to visit our parish website and click on the banner, which matches the one above, and watch the video. In that video, Congresswoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) analyzes why, after decades of passing this amendment, Democrats are trying to force American taxpayers, regardless of their personal or religious beliefs, to fund abortion. Andy Harris, the Republican congressman from Maryland as well as a Physician, gives an update on where the Hyde Amendment and other pro-life legislation stands. Ryan Bomberger, co-founder of The Radiance Foundation, debunks people’s claim that the Hyde Amendment is “racist.”

Do you want the whole truth? Then watch the video! Raise your voice and tell our legislators to

save the Hyde Amendment!

And pray mightily for an end to abortions.

Women of Inspiration Annual Dinner Banquet Sunday, September 19 at 4:00 pm

When everybody on earth was dead and waiting to enter heaven, God appeared and said, “I want the men to form two lines. One line is for men who were the true heads of their household, and the other line is for men who were dominated by their wives. I want all the women to report to Saint Peter.” Soon, the women were gone and there were two lines of men. The line of the men, dominated by their wives, was over 100 miles long! And in the line of men who truly were the heads of their household, there was only one man standing. God said to those in the long line, “You men should be ashamed of yourselves. I created you to be the priests of your families and the head of your households, but you have been disobedient and have not fulfilled your purpose! Of all you men, only one obeyed. Learn from him!” Then God turned to the one man and asked, “How did you manage to be the only one in this line?” The man replied, “My wife told me to stand here.”
