The Superb has represented the pinnacle of ŠKODA style and design for nearly eight decades.First introduced to the range in 1934, Superb models have become synonymous with strongdesign and powerful road presence. Now, thanks to a substantial restyle of both the hatch and estate models, the latest evolution reaffirms its position at the top of the ŠKODA range.

With a host of design enhancements that align the Superb with the latest members of the ŠKODA family, the flagship model in the range has a new energy and an even more engaging and striking appearance.

The front of the Superb has been completely redesigned from the A-pillars forward, with newbonnet, wings, bumper and grille combining to give a familiar yet expressive new look to theSuperb range.

The New Superb launches with an improved engine range that delivers lower emissions andmarkedly improved fuel consumption across the model line-up. Every engine in the new rangeemits less CO2 than previously before, with every model delivering enhanced fuel efficiency.

Read on to discover the new design, greater comfort and lower fuel consumption.

The optimal illumination of the Bi-Xenonlights perfectly match the overall dynamic look of the Superb.LED daytime running lights now complement the Bi-Xenonheadlights by adding two vertical rows of LED’s making thecar clearly visible and eye catching. When you have finished loading, press the button on the inside of thetailgate and the boot will close. This system has a clever feature forwhen you may park somewhere with a low ceiling - the height of theboot opening can be pre-set so you don’t have to worry about anyunwanted scrapes and dents.

Twindoor (Hatch only). Twindoor is ŠKODA’s revolutionary bootopening mechanism which allows the boot to be opened in twodifferent ways; as a hatch or as a saloon at the simplest touch of abutton. This gives you great versatility and more practicality comparedto a standard hatchback or saloon car.

Electric sunroof with solar cells. Available as an option on Hatch thesunroof supplies electric energy that drives an air conditioningventilator, which takes care of the air circulation inside the Superb. Therefore even after extended parking in the sun a fresh and pleasantclimate will await you.

4-spoke multi-function leather steeringwheel enabling control of the radio and

phone is standard across the range.

The recommendedgear shift functionis displayed in the

top right cornerof Maxi DOT.

In vehicles equipped with the optional KESSY(Keyless Entry, Start andexit system) there is aStart/Stop button on thesteering column for keylessstarting and switching offof the engine.

The Bolero radio which is standard on SE has multitude offunctions, such as a reader for SD or MMC data cards, theability to play music CDs as well as files in MP3 and WMAformats, memory for radio traffic reports (TIM), 6-CD changerand more.

The Columbus navigation system with DAB radio which isstandard on Elegance and Laurin & Klement has a 6.5" colourtouch-screen and voice command function.

Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG), availablein both 6-speed and 7-speed versions, guarantees smooth and rapid gearshifts resulting in maximum utilisationof the potential of the engine’s torque.

The MDI (Mobile Device Interface)gives you the ability to control aconnected external device throughthe radio, navigation system ormulti-function steering wheel.

Park assist. Optional on Superb SE and Elegance, standard on Laurin & Klement.Parallel parking and bay parking in the Superb is now easier than ever thanks to afurther evolution of ŠKODA's award winning Park assist. With a press of a button, thesystem will begin searching for a parking space in a line of cars or obstacles. When asuitable space is found (the car's length + 60 cm is all the space needed), the car willsteer itself into the space whilst the driver controls the pedals. The system will nowalso steer the car out of a line of cars from its parking space and with two presses ofthe same button, the car will search for and manoeuvre into a bay parking space.

A GreenLinebadge can be foundon the front grille.

Low rolling resistance tyres. The Superb GreenLine III has 16”Spectrum Alloys (205/55 R16 91H)these lighter alloy wheels withlow rolling resistance tyres havea higher prescribed air pressure to reduce friction.

The Start-Stop system automaticallyswitches off the engine, for examplewhile waiting at the traffic lights.By pressing the clutch pedal the engineautomatically restarts.

Energy recovery functionality, furtherassists this by enabling effective use of thecar’s kinetic energy for battery recharging.

The reduced drag resistancecoefficient of the SuperbGreenLine model is largelyachieved by the spoiler on theboot. The GreenLine logo can alsobe found on the rear of the car.

ŠKODA GreenFuture forms an integral part of our corporate philosophy. This is reflected in our efforts to keep reducing fuelconsumption and consequently CO2 emissions and no more so then as displayed by our GreenLine models.

The new Superb GreenLine has, among other modifications, a lower chassis and reduced weight. Powered by the 1.6 TDI CR 105PS DPF it achieves a combined consumption of 67.3 mpg (65.7 mpg on Estate) and a CO2 emission level of 109 g/km (Estate 113 g/km).

metric to imperial horsepower, divide the PS

figure by 1.0139.

* Fuel consumption and CO2 figures are

obtained under standardised EU test

allows a direct comparison between

different manufacturer models but may

not represent the actual fuel consumption

achieved in ‘real world’ driving conditions.

ABS: the anti-lock braking systemprevents the wheels from lockingduring heavy or emergency braking, enabling the vehicle to remainsteerable. When braking, wheel speed sensors measure the roadwheel speed and should one or more wheels start to lock the systemreduces brake pressure to that wheel.

Elements of the ABS System :-• Dual Rate Vacuum Brake Boosters:

increases brake effort underemergency braking conditions.

• EBC: Electronic brake control. The engine brake torque controlregulates the power supply byintervening with the enginemanagement system.

• EBD (aka EBV): Electronic BrakeDistribution automaticallydistributes different pressures tothe front and rear brakes to stop therear wheels from locking up underheavy braking. It also compensatesfor loaded and unloaded vehiclestherefore doing away with the needfor a Load Sensing Valve on the rear axle.

CAN Bus: the CAN Bus is anelectronic data bus which links thevarious different electronic controlsystems in the car. It ensures ideal co-ordination between systems andreduces the amount of wiring neededin the car.

Fuel cut-out: should one or more ofthe airbags inflate after an accident, this system automatically cuts outthe fuel supply, thus preventingsubsequent leakage of the diesel or petrol.

Trip Computer: the trip computer notonly features an impressive range ofdata displays, operating it is simplicityitself. A multifunction touch keyenables you to call up all relevant dataon the easy-to-read display. Featuresinclude external temperature, time, current fuel consumption, averagefuel consumption, miles driven andaverage speed.

DPF: diesel particulate filter is part ofthe exhaust system responsible forcleaning the engine exhaust gasesbefore they enter the atmosphere. The DPF catches soot particlesemitted in the exhaust gas and itworks in conjunction with thecatalytic converter, which reduces the amount of harmful gases enteringthe atmosphere. The DPF mustperiodically be emptied of the sootparticles, a process known asregeneration. This involves elevatedexhaust system temperatures. A driving style is required duringregeneration, where a constantvehicle speed above 37 mph must bemaintained. This does not always suitcustomers who make frequent shortjourneys or experience stop/startdriving or drive within inner-city orurban areas.

Bi-Xenon lights: Bi-Xenon lightsproduce about 2.5 times the lightof standard Halogen lights with35% less energy consumption.

CR: All Superb's diesel engines arebuilt on a system of Common-Rail fuelinjection. The diesel engines have ahigh-pressure common rail directinjection fuel system and four-valvetechnology. As a result, the newengines are much quieter, morerefined in their operation andconsume less fuel, compared to the Pump Duse engines availablepreviously and significantly reduceemissions.

AFS: Adaptive front light system is afeature of Bi-Xenons and allows thelight beam to adapt to the car'sspeed, direction and the weatherconditions. Urban driving emits ashorter, wider beam whilst fasterdriving emits a longer beam.Cornering function sees the beamturn up to 15 degrees in direction ofthe steering wheel's turn. The beamwill also adjust according to car load, acceleration and wet weather toprevent dazzling oncoming vehicles.

ESC: Electronic Stability Control is designed to stabilise the dynamichandling response of the vehicle bycounteracting any tendency towardsoversteer or understeer. The ESCconstantly compares the actualmovement of the vehicle withpredetermined values and accordingto the situation ESC reacts by brakingeach wheel individually (according todirection of slip) and automaticallyadjusting the engine’s output.

Elements of ESC system:-

• ASR: anti-slip regulation tractioncontrol ensures the Superb’sstability when pulling away oraccelerating. If the engine power or torque being transmitted to the drive wheels is too great, forexample on a slippery road surface, engine torque is automaticallyreduced until optimum road holdingreturns, thus preventing wheelspin.A light indicates whether the ASRsystem is on. It can be manuallyswitched off.

• MSR: the engine torque controlsystem recognises when the wheelsare subject to too much slippageand regulates the power supply by intervening in the enginemanagement system. This preventswheelspin when, for example, changing down on a smooth or wetroad surface. MSR is a constituentpart of the ASR system.

• EDS: the electronic differential lockcontinually compares the rpm of thedrive wheels, and if it identifies adifference between them whichcould lead to an individual wheelspinning, for example if the twowheels are on different types ofsurface or accelerating on wetleaves, the system brakes the wheelaffected until uniform rpm of alldrive wheels is restored.

• HBA: Hydraulic brake assistantincreases the optimal build-up ofbrake power. It ensures complete useof the brake system potential, thusshortening the braking distance.

• DSR: Driver SteeringRecommendation – in a crisissituation it helps the driver stabilizea skid by making a slight interventionin the steering.

• ESBS: Electronic Stability BrakeSystem – targeted interventions in the braking process improve thehandling of a car as it brakes whenpassing round a bend and keeps itfrom veering.

Service Intervals When you order your Superb, you can choose whether your car is on a fixed or aflexible service regime. Your retailer will help you decide which regime suits howyour car will be driven, enabling your car to stay in the best possible shape.

Fixed regime: Service every 10,000 miles or one year (whichever comes first). This is recommended if the vehicle is likely to be used in the following way:

> Driven fewer than 10,000 miles per annum and/or> Mainly short journeys, drive mostly in towns or cities and/or> High vehicle loading/towing and frequent hill climbs and/or> Heavy accelerating and braking, using high revs

Flexible regime: Sensors in the engine detect when a service is needed. You willbe informed of this by a service light which will show at any point between 9,000and 20,000 miles, up to 24 months (whichever comes first).

The flexible service regime is recommended for vehicles with a daily mileage ofmore than 25 miles where the vehicle is driven regularly and mainly at a constantspeed with minimum vehicle and engine loading, minimal towing and driven in aneconomical manner.
