Presenting The 2015 Circle of Champions Investors

The Mason Deerfield Chamber is excited to announce the 2015 Circle of Champions. Through investment in the growth and development from local businesses, the Chamber has the ability to create and provide programs, resources, products, services

As we continue to build a thriving business community, we would like to congratulate the 2015 Circle of Champions for investing in the overall health of the community the Chamber serves. Thank you for continuing to support all of the endeavors of the Chamber.

From the Desk ofThe Chair

I had the pleasure and privilege of attending and participating in the Mason Deerfield Chamber Classic Golf Outing last week, joining over one hundred of our members and their associates for a wonderful day of food, drink, golf, raffles, prizes, networking and fellowship. It was a great event…and a great day! Many thanks go to the Chamber’s administrative team, and in particular Brooke Hiller, our Programs and Events Manager, for their exceptional efforts in putting the event together.

Having been intimately involved with this Chamber for over a decade, I have participated in my fair share of Chamber golf outings and events. But this year seemed entirely different. The energy and enthusiasm, on the course and at the dinner/awards, were palpable. Maybe it’s the improved economy and general business climate. Maybe it’s the recent ‘wins” in Mason/Deerfield. Maybe it’s just that we were able to get all our golf in before the storm came. Or maybe it’s something else.

If you haven’t attended a BASH or other Chamber event recently, you may not have realized this…but it’s a new day at the Mason Deerfield Chamber. Under the inspirational leadership of our President and CEO, Sherry Taylor, the Chamber has been transformed in the past year; reinvigorated, and well on its way to becoming the most dynamic and respected center of influence in the Mason/Deerfield business community. If you’ve stayed active and involved, thank you! If you haven’t been around lately, I encourage you to come back and see what’s going on. I have no doubt you will see and feel the difference.

The Mason Deerfield Chamber is here for you, our members. As we continue to move through this year and beyond, you can expect to see new efforts and initiatives centered on our vision to be THE catalyst organization that ensures that Mason/Deerfield is a vibrant place to visit, live, and do business. I look forward to seeing all of you in and around our wonderful community!

Sincerely,

Randy KuvinChairman, Mason Deerfield Chamber Board of Directors

“When Historic Expressions Photography & Imaging joined the chamber from birth in 2011, as an owner new to thebusiness world, I did not really know what the chamber could do for the my business or even how to use the chamber to my advantage. I have found that volunteering my time as an ambassador to the chamber has improved my visibility and the work I have done for the chamber photographing events has shown my credibility! The more my friendly face is seen the more people trust me and recognize the hard work that I do does pay off and feels good also.”

“I have always strongly believed in the power of a Chamber of Commerce. When developing my strategic plan to promote the Homewood Suites Cincinnati Mason, the Chamber was the first group I reached out to. They were vital in helping us promote and assist in our Grand Opening celebration. I enjoy working on the Ambassador Committee to encourage others in seeing the MADE Chamber as a tool they can use to build their business and use the many benefits it has to offer. The committee itself is a varied group of people with a sincere desire to help all members get the most from their MADE membership!"

AfidenceIT, a technology consulting and services firm, recently announced it will be providing IT support services to Buffalo Wings & Rings. Buffalo Wings & Rings is a Cincinnati-based sports restaurant. In 2010, the restaurant began rebranding to a club level experience featuring bright, inviting dining rooms, 50+ TVs and chef-inspired recipes, making it the perfect place for socializing with families and fans. The plan is to rebrand all Buffalo Wings & Rings restaurants in the next eighteen months. Both businesses share the foundation of putting people first. “We have a great team and great people,” commented Nader Masadeh, chief executive for Buffalo Wings & Rings. “We want to get our message into the hands of the associates. We are going to communicate directly with them, putting people first, that’s the Buffalo Wings & Rings culture.” One of Masadeh’s goals as a CEO is to improve the consistency of the brand. AfidenceIT will help guide the technology standardization. Afidence’s strategy aligns itself sufficiently with companies whose IT departments are busy trying to keep up with all their internal changes. “It’s about creating trusted relationships. Nothing for us is more important,” explains Bryan Hogan, president of AfidenceIT. Masadeh selected AfidenceIT because of company’s reputation for providing consistent communication, quality reporting, and strategic planning through their proactive support model.

Creative Echoes is presenting two concerts in 2015 at the Anderson Theater in Anderson Township, Ohio. The first concert is dedicated to the music and dance teachers from schools across Cincinnati. The second concert will showcase budding artists from not for profit arts organizations, schools and colleges across the region, including CCM, OSU and Miami University. All the CE events will encourage multiple genres of music and dances from across the globe.

Powernet will return to the Lindner Family Tennis Center for Cincinnati’s Western Southern Open professional tennis tournament in 2015 as the event’s Official Wi-Fi Provider. Powernet will expand its free-access, public Wi-Fi network to cover the entire tournament venue, which measures just under 20 acres. Utilizing the most advanced Wi-Fi technology from Ruckus Wireless, the large outdoor venue has been outfitted by Powernet with 80 outdoor access points, building a network that will support the nearly 200,000 fans attending the nine-day event. The facility will be one of the first and largest outdoor venues in the country operating on faster, more scalable 802.11ac wireless network standards, which is up to three times faster than the the most recent technology, 802.11n. In addition to broadband network access for fans, Powernet will also be launching it’s new Wi-Fi analytics technology. Powernet’s Wi-Fi solution will use location-based analytics to provide tournament officials in-depth statistics regarding crowd patterns, attendee demographics and other pertinent information. This type of service can be used to enhance the fan experience by providing event-goers with real-time, location-relevant event information on the network home page.

Employers in Ohio should have received by now a No ce of Es mated Premium from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensa on (BWC). This no ce is part of BWC’s move toward a new, prospec ve billing system for workers’ compensa on premium. Beginning in August, Ohio employers will begin to pay workers’ compensa on premium for a coverage period in the future rather than in arrears. The BWC No ce of Es mated Premium mailed last month advises employers what t heir annual premium will be for the 2015 policy year period (July 2015 through June 2016) and the payroll used to calculate that premium. As BWC transi ons to this new payment model, employers will follow a bi-monthly payment schedule. Under this payment plan, the first prospec ve premium payment will be due by August 31, 2015 and will apply to coverage in September and October. Subsequent premium payment deadlines are:

November 2, 2015 (November/December coverage)December 31, 2015 (January/February coverage)March 2, 2016 (March/April coverage)May 2, 2016 (May/June coverage)

If employers prefer a different payment plan (monthly, quarterly or semi-annually), they will need to notify BWC by July 15, 2015. In addition, if there have been significant changes to employers’ operations that have impacted payroll, employers may want to communicate those changes to BWC to determine a more accurate premium. One final important reminder is that BWC will also mail a payroll report for the January 2015 through June 2015 coverage period by early July. Employers will need to report payroll for this period, but do NOT need to pay premium. BWC will provide a credit for this premium to prevent a double payment as they transition to the new model. In addition, BWC will provide a credit for this premium to prevent a double payment as they transition to the new model. In addition, BWC will provide a credit for the first two months of premium in the 2015 policy year (July and August).

Additional information on prospective billing, including time lines, frequently asked questions and key dates to remember, are available at bwc.ohio.gov.
