Cricket Field The Model United Nations Society of Modern School, Barakhamba Road organized the fifth edition of the Modern School International Model United Nations Conference, or ModMUN for short, from 3rd to 5th October this year. The conference saw the participation of over six hundred delegates in eleven different committees with diverse agendas ranging from the situation of human rights in Myanmar to the question of legalization of marijuana to the arbitration of the historical Iran-United States dispute. ModMUN has always been one of the most awaited conferences of the year and has acquired a reputation for being not only grand but also exceedingly well-organized. This year was no different as the senior secretariat under the guidance of teachers-in-charge Ms Usha Nair and Ms Sonia Kapoor undertook the momentous task of putting together such a massive event. Nevertheless, the sincere effort put in by everybody involved made the conference a resounding success. After three days of intense debate, deliberation and negotiation, the conference came to an end. Although some delegates walked away with awards while others left empty-handed, one can hope that the more important purpose of MUNing was fulfilled: imbibing in the youth a degree of sensitivity and responsibility towards the variety of issues that afflict our world today. 2. Group Discussion One's ideas hold most value when they are expressed and an effective way to do so is by making others listen to your ideas. Students of the economic society participated in a group discussion on the topic 'The factors affecting Indian economy' to exhibit their knowledge of economics and analyze and present a critical appraisal of each other's points, and also, to become informed citizens and responsible leaders of the nation.
