News You Can UseAugust is here which means the start of another school year is just around the corner. The summer months certainly do seem to fly by! We are praying for a good school year for all of our students—elementary, high school, and college.

We had a wonderful time at the Celebration 75 last month in Tulsa, OK. Thank you to everyone who attended! For those of you who missed it, and those who were there but want to keep the celebration going, we have created a page on our Web site to view and download portions of the services. Stephanie Yonke has taken over the roll of administrative assistant to Ramona Edgman. Stephanie was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri, and recently graduated from Evangel University with a bachelor’s degree in English.

Sarah Bridwell is the new receptionist for U.S. Missions and hers is the voice you hear when calling our main number. Sarah is excited about this new position and is also looking forward to becoming a “Mrs.” in just five weeks!

As you know, we just celebrated 75 years of ministry last month. THANK GOD for 75 years! And thank you for your faithful servant leadership. This is just the beginning of what God has for us. We cannot rest on the laurels of the past. There is still so much work ahead of us!

As I write this, the news is in wall-to-wall coverage of the shootings in Aurora, Colorado. If ever we doubted the work ahead of us, this incident is a strong reminder that this country so desperately needs God. It is a dark time, and the aftermath will be with us for some time. But this is also a moment of opportunity to be Christ to the hurting. As people across the nation struggle with fear, anger, and mortality, the compassion, hope, and love that you share will be a beacon in that darkness.

The Message paraphrase of John 1:5 says, “The Life-Light

blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out.” Be judicious in shining that light into the lives of those around you!

I pray that the Lord refreshes and blesses you as you minister to the lost and hurting God has called you to serve.
