I think it’s always a treat when some of the “extras” get speaking parts, and today we get Andrew and Philip. Throughout the Gos-pels, we see the Twelve bumble along trying to figure out what it means to follow Jesus – just like the rest of us. If they ever wanted a break, it would be so easy for any of us to step in and the Gospel stories wouldn’t miss a beat. Andrew’s question, “What good are these for so many?” is one we all ask from time to time as we minis-ter to one another. It’s more than an inadequacy of money or sup-plies, but also time, volunteers, energy, ability, etc. It can be over-whelming and we can lose confidence. We may be tempted to ask, “Am I doing good? Am I making a difference?” Just remember, it’s not a matter of "adequacy" but a realization that the "success" of our ministry does not depend on us. Like Philip, Andrew, and the rest of the twelve, we do the best we can and leave the rest for Jesus!

BREAKING OPEN THE SCRIPTURE WITH FR. CHRIS is on summer break. We will resume September 7.
Fr. Richard's class begins Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9-11am. This year the subject is Christology; Understanding Jesus. What does scripture and the millennia of theology teach us about Christology? Fr. Richard will supplement and reflect on 12 thoughtful Lectures by Fr. Robin Ryan, C.P., PhD. in this Fall, Winter Series. The series begins Saturday, October 6, and will meet in the hall or chapel the first Saturdays of November, De-cember, January, February and March from 9-11am. As you reflect upon your own portrait of Jesus, you will be enriched from the in-sights of Scripture and Theology. Come journey into the heart of our Christian faith. Please sign up in the Community Center near the bulletin board by October 1.
Introducing New Staff Member
Danielle Eckhoff
As your newest Safe Environment Officer, I am looking forward to the stewardship of safety in our wonderful parish! My family are parishioners for 5 years and call Corpus Christi our home; we cele-brated our wedding and the baptism of our son here. The sustaina-bility and safety of Corpus Christi is very important to me. I bring 19 years of Public Administration Experience to this role and am hum-bled to serve you. Please email me with inquiries at [email protected].
Becoming Catholic - Now’s the Time - If you are, or if you have a friend or relative who is, an adult ready to explore full initiation into the Catholic Church, now is the time take action. The process that culminates at the Easter Vigil in the spring, begins very soon. See the “Becoming Catholic" page at cccctucson.org or contact Dc. Mark by email: [email protected]. This process is for adults who are: not baptized, or baptized in another Christian tradi-tion, or baptized in the Catholic church but not confirmed.
Make a Date to Save a Life! The Red Cross does not need blood - patients do. Every two seconds someone in America gets a blood transfusion. Five million patients will need blood this year. On Sun., August 12, from 8am -12pm, Corpus Christi is having a Blood Drive. Sign up now and bring a friend!
Be extraordinary...give the gift of life!
