From the Desk of Fr. Chris

Merry Christmas! I know Christmas is six-months away, but this past week we celebrated the birth of John the Baptist on the 24th, and various areas use terms like “Summer Christmas” or “Little Christmas” to describe the day. We hear in Luke’s Gospel that Elizabeth is six-months pregnant with John when Gabriel announces that Mary will give birth to the Christ. Now, are June 24th and December 25th the actual dates of their births? Probably not. But don’t let that bother you. The actual dates don’t matter - what mat-ters is that we commemorate and celebrate these Feasts. And litur-gically it makes sense. After the summer solstice we notice the days getting shorter, after the winter solstice the days become noticeably longer. Our physical environment reflects what John said - He must increase; I must decrease. We use that imagery of light for Jesus all the time (The Light of the World, Christ our Light). All creation is proclaiming with us what we celebrate liturgically. What does that mean for us practically? In these dog days of summer, let’s not leave our guard down. Let’s continue to celebrate and share Christ-mas Joy!

Fr. Chris

Your Purchase Supports Our Parish One of the easiest ways to give back to Corpus Christi is our Scrip (Gift Card) program. Simply purchase gift cards from Corpus Christi after Mass at the Scrip Table in the Community Center, or during the week in the Parish Office. Our church receives a per-centage directly from the store. There is no extra charge-just pay by cash, check, or credit card for the face value of the card. It’s that easy! Gift cards can be used for everyday items like food, gasoline, restaurants, clothes, and much more. They also make great gifts for birthdays, holidays, or for any occasion.

Parish Library The Parish Library is located in the Parish Office and offers an extensive collection of literature and audio-visual materials to our Corpus Christi Community. New books and materials are processed each month. Locating a book is made easy with the use of a 3-ring binder where each book is listed by title, author, and category. Each item contains a library card to fill out and a “Return Book” shelf. (Please return the materials so they may be available to others)

Yoga News from Health Ministry! The Health Ministry would like to announce a change in the Yoga class beginning July 8. Our new instructor for Yoga will be certified Yoga teacher Jo Kalil-Hartman. Relaxing music, stretching, breathing, strengthening, and good company. Namasté!

This year’s vacation Bible School went to SonSpark Labs. The children who participated learned about God’s plan to be with us and love us. Each morning the kids enjoyed playing games, singing songs, making crafts, and exploring science experiments. I’m very grateful that Corpus Christi has so many wonderful volunteers to help make the week extra special for the kids! Karen Krejci - Snacks Sue Zimmerman, Joanna Gulli, Jen McDowell - Crafts Joanna Vega - Bible games Liz Medina - Games Rochelle Yost - Bible stories Jessica Boerner - Science demonstrations Angie Buchanan - Music Roxanne Gautreau - Kinder group Several big kids also helped to make everything run smoothly by assisting wherever they were needed: Abby, Jennifer, Selena, Cammy, Jadyn, Gracyn, Carly, Birdie, Nicole, Gina, and Isaac. A really big WOW goes to our VBS crew who practiced for countless hours to prepare for this big event. They performed several demon-strations that entertained the kids and also taught them about God’s great plan. Abby Marcantonio - Director

Jake Pacheco - Professor Petri Kailee Cullinan - Sally Christine Cullinan - Primary Narrator Connor McKearney, and Austin & Sean Runkel - Narrators (aka The Other Guys)

Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who brought their kids to Corpus Christi. We all felt blessed for the opportunity to get to know them and teach them about God’s love. Let’s do it again next year!
