The Pastor’s Two Bits...
LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE!
MERRY CHRISTMAS! This year, we will again cele-brate the Advent season as we anticipate our cele-bration of the coming of the Christ Child. This year’s advent sermons will focus on the ‘songs’ of Christmas; some of the great poetic proclamations made during the events leading up to and just after Jesus’ birth. The choir’s music presentation is titled, The Song of Bethlehem. I am looking forward to worshiping through the Christmas season.
The four Sundays of advent help us reflect on the hope, peace, joy, and love that Jesus brought to the world. In Him, each of those are offered as part of a spiritual completion, so to speak, to humanity. Our hope of Heaven and eternity with God are complet-ed in Him. Inner peace in a struggling world are made available in Him. Personal joy, even in trou-bled times is available in Him. And maybe best of all, the greatest of these is the endless love of God available in Him.
In Him...
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NASB) The Christ-mas season is a promise of newness. New life, new love, new faith... In Him. It’s a great way to start your Christmas celebration... in Him.
- Pastor Doug
P.S. THANK YOU! for giving toward the IN FAITH offering in October. We received over $52,000 of our $100,000 goal. Although we didn’t meet the goal, we still took a significant bite out of our debt. I hope you will remain committed to paying off the debt as soon as possible.
Youth Notes – December 2019
December? Seriously? Already? Didn’t we JUST put away Christmas trees and wreaths and
things like a week ago? Wow…Ok, well, hello December! As I write this, the youth are looking
forward to Hearts on Fire Conference in Pigeon Forge as well as the Annual Christmas party
event. It’s been a great fall! We have seen our numbers increase, a rise in participation and a
heightening of excitement about the ministry overall. Obviously, there is always more work to
do – there are more kids to reach, our current youth that are here must continue to grow and
mature, and as always, more fun to be had! As we look to the new year, there is a Super Bowl
Party to think about, a possible winter retreat, as well as our annual fundraiser dinner (stay
tuned)! Thank you for your continued support and prayers for this vital ministry!
Going ‘til He Comes,
Pastor Robert
