Dear Friends of the MAC,

It’s time to warm up to inspiration! 2016 brings another exciting year of performances, exhibitions and classes, and cultural opportunities through both ticketed and free events.

On Stage, January 19, Worthington musicians Parker MacDonell, Eric Gnezda & Matt Munhall carry original tunes in a Nashville-style Bluebird in-the-round concert. And you can enjoy more original music and classic style, at the McConnell Arts Center Chamber Orchestra, February 12, with a world premiere by emerging composer, Michael Torres.

On View features local artist Janet Grissom beginning January 7, with her richly textured and colored landscapes in the Main Gallery. In collaboration with Worthington area schools, the annual Focus On exhibition runs concurrently in the Corridor Galleries featuring our top high school art students.

Be sure to register to complete your first 2016 resolution through enriching, fun and educational classes and other activities for artists, musicians, performers and dancers of all ages.

And if that was not enough to warm the creativity of your heart — tune into this year’s fundraiser phenomenon, Arts Enchanted Evening: Classic TV at the MAC on February 19, which gives the adults a chance to wine, dine and act fine with award-winning cuisine, show-stopping beverages and inventive entertainment inspired by television’s good old days. All proceeds benefit the creative and educational programming at the Peggy R. McConnell Arts Center of Worthington.

Join us and make memories — we will see you around the MAC!

ceramics: clay — what is it, why we can’t live without it, what we can make with it (7 weeks)15 to adult | all skill levels Instructors: Dr. Julie Weatherington-Rice and susan Ricesundays, January 17 – february 28: 12:00 – 3:00pm oRsundays, March 13 – May 1: 12:00 – 3:00pm (no class on easter sunday, March 27)Come spend your Sunday afternoons with us learning about clay and making things with it: a brick made from buckets of soil, a tile, a pinch pot, a coiled pot, a piece or two for the MAC wind chimes. Learn how a kiln works, how to use the tools for surface decorations. Make a few holiday ornaments, try your hand at wheel throwing. We’ll plan an additional field trip around Worthington to see where the ceramic industry, started two hundred years ago, is still with us. Clay is such an important group of minerals, is of various textural grain sizes, and it’s the raw materials that have supported manufacturing efforts since the very beginning of civilization. In its raw form, it’s the rock and soil beneath your feet, the medium that supports the growth of all the food you eat. Ohio’s first industry and one of Worthington’s first industries is based on clay. Great art depends on two things: inspiration and expression. Anything can provide the inspiration. But the quality of the expression depends on the passion, skill, discipline and commitment of the artist.

At Hamilton Capital Management, we’re inspired by our clients and their dreams, and we apply our passion, skill, discipline and commitment to helping make those dreams come true with sound, dynamic, comprehensive investment strategies.

It’s not art, but it feels that way to us. And if it helps you achieve your dreams, it can feel that way to you, too.
