Wow what a night last meeting with 5 outstanding young adults who participated in our Club round of Youth of the Year. If that is the caliber of the youth of today with their aims and aspirations in life, the world and our country will be in a better place. Its no wonder the judges had such a difficult time separating the win-ner from the rest. Good luck to Elias in all subsequent rounds he attends and I am sure he will do his parents and the rest of the family proud. It was also pleasing to be able to induct Murray Robinson into the Club in front of attendees. It allowed them to see what we do to regenerate ourselves and in some small way encourage people to think about Lions down the track. On the health front, Dee is out of hospital which is great news but Robert Small and John Smith about to go there. Robert for knee replacements and John for some retuning. Margaret Brearley will move to Warrigal once she is released from hospital but on the other side of the coin, one of our members has expressed interest in re-housing “Barney”. Good luck to all and the best wishes of all members go with you. Next meeting will be one of our most important nights of the year where we hold elections for various positions for 2020-2021. For the first time in a long while (that I can remember at least) we have elections for most positions. Good luck to all can-didates on the night. While On this front, I propose to ask Lions John Stein and Murray Robinson (if present) to conduct the vote count. At the next meeting we will start fine tuning details of the up-coming changeover. At this stage, the last weekend in June is being proposed with venue etc to be determined. Ken Anderson has agreed to chair the night and John Stein has agreed to con-duct the installation of the new officers. Kind regards John

Wingello Farmers
Call for Tools Farmers at Wingello are in need of tools after the recent devastating fires. Suggestions, such as Lions arranging com-munity collections were briefly discussed. PP Lion Rosemary Chapman was appointed to look further into the matter and deter-mine which farmers were in need and the range of tools needed. Rosemary told the meeting of garden sheds and garages being burnt even though houses were saved. President John Flarrety said we would dis-cus further at our March Meeting.

Elias Toparis wins both Categories Extraordinary talented speaker Elias Toparis won both Public speaker award, overall Win-ner award. (Could Goulburn Lions have witnessed a future PM he will definitely make a fine politician if he enters poli-tics.) Elias spoke of his concern for the younger generation be-ing caught up in the some-times negative reports coming from some reporting and over dramatic statements from the social media.
He spoke of a young suicide that saw no future and of a young person who had decided not to bring children into a world without a future. He than presented us with statistics that were less dramatic and did so eloquently. The Lions Club YOTY competition is a great initia-tive that encourages bright young students like we witnessed Tuesday night. Chairman Lion Bob Collins proving once again his skills at bringing the best young talented speakers to our meeting.

Lion Robert Small reports that on a Hot 2020 Aus-tralia Day outside Bunnings Warehouse. The BBQ stall, 5 members worked 30 hours and made $508. Robert wants to thank the following Members, for helping him, Lions Ray and Maureen Strong, John Smith, Bill Smith.
Australia Day BBQ Year 2020 Australia Day saw 20 Members serve
300 Sausages. On a hot summers day (not a
sweltering heat like last Year) Members took
turns cooking and serving Lions sausage sand-
wiches. Catering to customers that wanted top
and bottom bread, onions, or without like the
professionals they all are.
Lion Ken Anderson spent time with a fussy customer that wanted his
sausage sandwich buttered both sides and the tomato sauce under
the sausage. Being a consummate entrepreneur Ken persuaded him
otherwise (good work Ken)

Lions Prayer Will anyone be happier because we passed this way? Will anyone remember that we spoke to him today? Will a single heart rejoice over what we did or said? Will one whose hopes were vanished now take courage and look ahead? Will we waste the day or use it? Will it be well or poorly spent? Will we leave a trail of kindness, or a scare of discontent?... As we close our eyes in slumber, do you think of God and say, We have earned one more tomorrow by what we did today! AMEN

Million Kids Need You, So Get Involved Today! Lions KidSight USA Foundation is a nationwide program to safeguard the vision of children, concentrating on kids aged 6 months through 6 years, but screening through grade 12 where possible. According to educational experts, 80% of learning is visual. So if a child can’t see well, he can’t learn well. Yet most young children don’t get their vision screened until they have problems learning or paying attention in school. By then, it may already be too late. Unless vision problems are detected early and corrected, they risk becoming permanent by age 7.
Lions in the USA already screened over 1.5 million kids per year through state-wide and local programs often known as “KidSight.” Lions KidSight USA is a national coalition that brings together Lions programs that screen preschool and school age kids in order create a coordinated national program with a strong Lions Clubs identity. Our mission is to ensure eye screening and follow-up care is given to all kids because every child deserves to learn and see the world clearly. To do this, we will work with Lions to increase the number of screening programs around the country in order to reach more children when it is possible and where it is needed.
Mother Pens Thank-You Letter to Lions Seven-year-old Vivian did not know she had
a vision problem — after all, how could she?
She knew no different. She never
complained, and it had not affected her
schoolwork or playtime. Thankfully, a Lions
KidSight USA vision screening caught her
problem in time.

Buying a bull A blonde and a redhead have a ranch.
They have just lost their bull. The women need to buy
another, but only have $500. The redhead tells the
blonde, "I will go to the market and see if I can find
one for under that amount. If I can, I will send you a
telegram." She goes to the market and finds one for $499. Having only one dollar
left, she goes to the telegraph office and finds out that it costs one dollar
per word. She is stumped on how to tell the blonde to bring the truck and
trailer.
Finally, she tells the telegraph operator to send the word "comfortable."
Sceptical, the operator asks, "How will she know to come with the trailer
from just that word?" The redhead replies, "She's a blonde so she reads
slow: 'Come for ta bull.'"
Praying Two guys are walking through a game park & they come across a lion that has not eaten for days. The lion starts chasing the two men. They run as fast as they can and the one guy starts getting tired and decides to say a prayer, "Please turn this lion into a Christian, Lord.
"He looks to see if the lion is still chasing and he sees the lion on its knees. Happy to see his prayer answered, he turns around and heads towards the lion. As he comes closer to the lion, he hears the it saying a prayer: "Thank you Lord for the food I am about to receive."
The best convert
A priest, a minister, and a rabbi want to see who’s best at his job.
So they each go into the woods, find a bear, and attempt to convert it.
Later they get together.
The priest begins: “When I found the bear, I read to him from the Catechism and sprinkled him with holy water. Next week is his first
communion.”
“I found a bear by the stream,” says the minister, “and preached God’s holy word. The bear was so mesmerized that he let me baptize
him.” They both look down at the rabbi, who is lying on a gurney in a body cast. “Looking back,” he says, “maybe I shouldn't have started with
the circumcision.” February Newsletter Page 12
