This is a free non-tournament event conducted by NRA Law Enforcement Competitions to expose law enforcement and security professionals from
New Mexico agencies who do not have a permanent PPC Classification to the NRA Police Pistol Combat program and the National Police Shooting
Championships.
Officers will be run through the PPC Stock Semi-Automatic Course of Fire
and since it is a non-tournament event they will not have to compete against experienced PPC shooters. Previous New Mexico Challenge shooters
may enter the Alumni Special Category even if they have a PPC Classification but cannot win the overall trophies, prizes or firearm awards.
Rules are simple: officers only need their duty handgun, holster, magazines, and 50 rounds of ammunition. No need for duty ammunition, inexpensive
practice, or training ammo is fine.
We will have trophy awards for top shooters and law enforcement category
awards, such as Municipal, County, State, Federal, and Security.
Team Event: Challenge officers from your rival Squad,
Division, Unit, District, or your best friends. There will be un-fired team matches for 2 and 4 officer teams. Just tell us before you shoot who your
teammate is and we will combine your individual scores to get your team score.
Call NRA Law Enforcement Competitions at 703.267.1632 or go to www.nrahq.org/law and follow the NPSC links for more information on the
New Mexico Challenge and for the registration form.
Registration & check in from 0830 to 0945 / Firing relays begin at

using duty handgun, shotgun, and patrol rifles in scenario and skill based courses of fire.
The event is held in the action shooting bays located past the NPSC
Statistical Office building.
For equipment and firearm requirements and more information about the
Tactical Police Competition program visit ww.nrahq.org/law/competitions and follow the links to TPC.

web pages at www.nrahq.org/law/competitions or by calling Law Enforcement Competitions at 703.267.1632. Sorry but Registration must
be done separately from NPSC.
On-Site Registration: Inside the NPSC Award/Statistical Office Building,
Saturday and Sunday from 0600 to 0700. If you do not register by 0700 you cannot participate.
Check In: ALL TPC shooters must check in and get their competitor packets inside the NPSC Awards/Statistical Office Building the morning of the
day they are shooting during the open registration hours listed above. If you do not check in you cannot fire.
Awards: The TPC Awards Ceremony will take place Sunday when course breakdown is complete and scores are finalized.

NPSC PRACTICE DAY
Date: Sunday, September 15, 2013
Location: Shooting Range Park Police Pistol Combat Range
Cost: $ 8 Per Relay Ticket
Relays Offered: There are three types of relays held on NPSC Practice Day.
Match 5 Relay: Range Control will run the 60 round NRA National
Police Course of Fire. This will allow competitors to practice at the 7,
15, 25 and 50 yard line as if under match conditions.
Match 4 Relay: Range Control will run Match 4, the 25 yard Standing Without Support Course of Fire.
Zeroing Relay: At 25 yards, Range Control will allow competitors to
fire the number of rounds they choose during the time allotted to fire.
Shooters will then be allowed to inspect their target and after all shooters have returned from downrange, allowed to handle their
unloaded handgun and make any necessary sight adjustments.
Another firing period will then be provided, repeating the process. Shooters will then move to the 50 yard line and the process repeated to
check/adjust 50 yard sight zeros.
Relay Format: While each relay follows a set course and time limits,
shooters may practice whatever stage and fire whatever number of rounds they desire as long as they follow all range commands. For
instance, during the Match 4 Relay, instead of firing strings of 12
rounds standing off hand at 25 yards, you could practice left hand barricade or during Zeroing Relays you may practice whatever stages
you desire during the open fire period.
Multiple Guns: You may fire/zero multiple guns during the Practice
Day. As always, guns must be cased or holstered. Just check with Practice Day Range Officers on how, and when you may switch firearms.
Practice Day Ticket Prize Drawing: A Practice Day Prize Drawing will
be conducted consisting of donated merchandise. To be eligible for the
Practice Day Prize Drawing, competitors must place one of their shooter
labels on each ticket or write their name on the Practice Day Ticket and place them in the Practice Day Prize Drawing Box on the range. The
names of the winners of the Practice Day Prize Drawing will be posted

in the world, Albuquerque offers almost limitless activities for visitors to the "Land
of Enchantment."
As you might expect, there are numerous outdoor recreational opportunities in or
near the area -- golf, hiking, camping, mountain biking, fishing, and hunting. What you might not expect are ancient Indian historical sites, several museums, including
one devoted to race cars; a hot air balloon festival; concerts; special events;
theatre; shopping and restaurants; and a slew of children's activities.
Megan Mayo of the Albuquerque Convention & Visitors Bureau said, "October is a
gorgeous time to be in Albuquerque. The weather is usually very, very mild -- warm afternoons with lots of sunshine and cool evenings.
"Albuquerque is a great place for outdoor recreation," Mayo added. "We have
everything from mountain biking and hiking to road bike trails throughout the city, and we have the Sandia Mountains on the eastern border of the city." For those
interested in indoor recreation, "Nob Hill has several pubs and bars," Mayo said. "It's a little more of a trendy, eclectic area. The other area for dining and nightlife is
the Old Town area. Old Town is where the city was founded, so it's a little more of a
historic area. A lot of great shopping and galleries. Great New Mexico food."
A few of Albuquerque's many highlights include:
Stocked rainbows and wild brown trout can be found in many of the small
rivers in the Jemez Mountains, just northwest of Albuquerque. Try the Rio San Antonio, the Rio Cebolla, or the Rio Guadalupe. For regulations and license
information contact the New Mexico Game and Fish Department.
New Mexico was inhabited by some of the earliest North American residents. They left thousands of examples of rock art in what is now Petroglyph National
Monument, minutes outside the city. More exhibits and information on historic peoples can be found at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, at 2401 12th
Street NW.
AREA ATTRACTIONS
Did you know New Mexico had a seacoast? Okay, it was 75 million years ago
when inland seas covered most of the state. But at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, you can see fossils of marine life of the period,
plus numerous exhibits of dinosaur skeletons that will give you a more personal version of "Jurassic Park." The museum is located at 1801 Mountain
Rd. NW in Albuquerque.
Just about anytime you happen to look upward, you may see hundreds of hot air balloons taking part in the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. This is
the "largest ballooning event on earth," according to the fiesta's website, with up to 900 balloons taking off from Balloon Fiesta Park's 78-acre launch field.
Your kids will love it, and so will you.
The Go! Downtown Arts Festival showcases the finest from emerging and established artists in a variety of media. The festivities include food from
many local dining spots and live music from local performers.
The Unser Racing Museum showcases the famous automotive racing family, with several exhibits of race cars. One Unser link to law enforcement: In the
early 1900s, the Colorado City Police hired two Unser brothers to teach them how to ride motorcycles.
Especially for the kids: The Santa Fe Children's Museum is devoted to
"discovering the joys of learning, play and community." If you never really thought that education can be fun, you need to visit this place.
We have not mentioned hunting opportunities, since the extra time and gear needed to compete in a national shooting championship and take a hunting
trip might be a bit daunting. But if you've dreamed of elk, antelope, or mule
deer, New Mexico is very well-known for all three. Opportunities for other big game and western game birds are plentiful as well, and there are many local
guides and outfitters. Contact New Mexico Game and Fish for more information.
