As  we  celebrate  145  years  of  Catholic  educa on  in  the 

Presenta on  Tradi on we  reflect on  the  life  and works of Nano 

Nagle and those who followed her in bringing to life the mission of 

Jesus. Today’s reflec on, adapted from Joyce Johnson’s song from 

‘Being Presenta on – Then and Now’,  speaks of Nano Nagle and 

our  early  Presenta on  foremothers who  have  gone  before  us  – 

wise women, strong women, courageous women with a vision for 

a world where all are welcome at the table of God’s kingdom.  

 

We are standing on the shoulders of the ones who came before us. 

We are stronger for their courage, we are wiser for their words. 

We are li ed for their longing for a fair and brighter future. 

We are grateful for their vision, for their tolling on this earth.

Dear Family and Friends,  

Since our  last newsle er, we have  celebrated and held  the Senior 

Informa on  Evening,  the  High  Achievers  and  Dux  Ceremony,  the 

Year 7 BBQ,  Swimming Carnival, VCE Cross Camus Ceremony with 

PCW and CBC, Music Fes val at Hamer Hall, our Welcome Mass and 

Open Day. 

Our College is special and our Presenta on Spirit is alive and thriving as evidenced by these special events and celebra ons. We  are  blessed  with  a  truly  mul cultural  and  mul   faith  family which  makes  us  true  ambassadors  of  the  message  to  “love  our neighbours” We  are Presenta on people of one heart and one hope – we  are called to be emissaries of social  jus ce where we strive for a world of equality and peace. We are people of faith inspired by Gospel values following the lived examples of  Jesus Christ and Nano Nagle and prepared  to go one step beyond. Like Nano, we hope  to be women of welcoming hearts  to  all  and especially the new members of our community. Together we share Nano’s vision of an educa on for all where deeds not words enable us to be people of posi ve ac on.   This  bumper  edi on  of  The  Lantern  is  a  testament  to  all  things 

wonderful  at  Presenta on  College  Windsor.  These  events  come 

about  through  the hard work, effort and commitment of students,

As Presenta on College Windsor celebrates 145 years of educa ng young women who make a difference in our world we reflect on our 

school’s historical legacy of being faithful to not only Catholic Heritage but also our rich Presenta on Spirit. As a Presenta on school we 

are a community  that  reflects  the gospel message of welcome, hospitality,  faith,  sustainability,  just ac on,  learning and  love. These 

values, reflected in the teachings of Jesus and lived out by Nano Nagle and the Presenta on Sisters, embody the life of our school as a 

community that  is  ‘faithful to our Catholic Heritage and Presenta on Spirit’. As we acknowledge and celebrate our rich history and 

tradi on let us con nue Nano’s legacy into the future as a community of true welcome and respect, with one heart and hope filled as 

we strive for the crea on of a just world for all. 

On Thursday 1st March we celebrated, as a Presenta on community, our Welcome Mass. The Presenta on family had many members 

that a ended this special Eucharis c celebra on including the Presenta on Sisters, Our Presenta on connected schools Avila College, 

St. Mary’s Primary School, St.  John’s Regional College, Star of  the Sea and CBC St. Kilda, Catholic Educa on  representa ves, College 

Board members, parents, and students and staff of Presenta on College.   Our Presiders were Monsignor Greg Bennet and Father Joe 

Caddy who honoured us on  this very  special occasion by blessing  the  refurbished wing of  the Rahilly building and Paddock  to Plate 

Sustainable garden. 

The Mass was  a wonderful  celebra on of our Catholic Heritage  and Presenta on  Spirit  and  included  the  acknowledgement of  the 

tradi onal owners on which our 145 year history was built on. We also celebrated our wonderful and diverse mul ‐faith community 

that believes  in coopera ve, open, construc ve and posi ve  interfaith‐dialogue with our brothers and sisters of different faiths. With 

over 50 girls par cipa ng in the Mass including members of our Presenta on schools, our Welcome Mass reflected a spirit of welcome 

and hospitality, unity and diversity, faith and hope.

Term 1 con nues to be busy and over the past few weeks we have held a range of events including the Senior Informa on Evening, Year 7 Informa on Evening, High Achievers Assembly, Swimming Carnival, Opening Mass and of course our amazing Music Fes val. Congratula ons to all involved in these events. I was fortunate to be invited to the CBC St Kilda Opening College Mass and Prefect Inves ture on Tuesday 20 February and I a ended the Avila College opening of the school year mass on Thursday 22 February. It is wonderful to see how other Catholic schools celebrate the opening of their new school year.

Celebra ng the Achievements of the Year 12 Class of 2017  As a College community we provide opportuni es to celebrate and recognise academic success and excellence in learning.  On Wednesday 14 February we held a special College assembly to acknowledge and celebrate the academic excellence achieved by the 2017 cohort of VCE graduates. We congratulate all students from the 2017 cohort for their VCE, VET and VCAL results. In par cular, we recognised those young women who achieved the top 10 ATAR scores from the class of 2017. 

                

The College assembly was a wonderful opportunity  to celebrate  the successes of 2017 with  invited guests,  family and  friends. Following the assembly, the award recipients and their  family and  friends enjoyed a celebratory  lunch with their teachers and school staff.   The  College  Dux  for  2017, Monica  Ren,  was  announced  during  the  assembly. Monica  achieved  an  ATAR  of  98.55. Monica addressed  the  College  community  and  reflected  on  her  VCE  year  and  me  at  the  College,  and  she  provided  advice  for  our students as well as injec ng humour into her speech (see page 9 for an excerpt from Monica’s speech)  Our  thoughts  and  prayers  are with  the  2017  Year  12  cohort  as  they  embark  on  the  next  exci ng  chapter  of  their  life  past secondary school. We hope you maintain contact with the College through our Women of Windsor Alumnae.  Five other awards were presented during this special College assembly. These included the Academic Excellence Awards for the grade point average  (GPA) recipients  for Semester 2, 2017, the Year 9 DUX  for 2017, an  iVET award, the Jacinta Farrelly Social Jus ce Award and the PCW Young Achiever Award.

Academic Excellence Awards The Academic Excellence Awards recognise high achievement and academic excellence from students who were  in Years 7 to 11  in Semester 2, 2017 and achieved a GPA of over 9 (for Years 8 to 11). These awards are given based on a student’s Grade  Point  Average  or  GPA.  This  score  represents  the overall average a student achieves for the semester. The way the  GPA  is  calculated  is  explained  below.  These  students have demonstrated a posi ve contribu on to the classroom learning  environment,  commitment  to  their  studies  and conspicuous achievement in their learning.  In 2017 the College commenced work towards authorisa on to  implement  the  Interna onal  Baccalaureate  (IB)  Middle Years Program (MYP). The grading of assessment tasks in the MYP  is  different  to  the  A  to  E  grading  system  in  that  it  is criterion based. For each assessment criterion, a number of band  descriptors  are  defined.  These  describe  a  range  of achievement levels with the lowest represented as 0 and the maximum as 8.   In awarding the GPA for Year 7, we recognise those students who achieved  the highest possible  criteria  score of 7 and 8 over all their subjects. As we con nue to implement the MYP from  Years  7  to  10 we will  gradually move  to  recognising student  achievement  based  on  the  MYP  criteria. Congratula ons to the following students: 

2017 Year 9 DUX It  is my great pleasure to announce the DUX of Year 9, 2017 is  Juliana Neild. At  the Year 9 Awards Evening  in November last  year we were  unable  to  announce  the  Year  9  DUX  as assessment results had not yet been finalised.   

iVET Award For the past few years, iVET has given individual VET students across  the  state  the  opportunity  to  be  recognised  for  their hard work and dedica on.   In  2017,  an  excess  of  600  applicants  applied  for  the Excellence  Awards  and  iVET  chose  only  eight  students  to receive  this scholarship. We are delighted  to announce  that Pascale Latras was chosen as a 2017 recipient of this award, for  her  ongoing  commitment  and  dedica on  in  VCE  VET Business.  We look forward to following Pascale’s career and wish her all the very best. 

 Jacinta Farrelly Social Jus ce Award Congratula ons  to  Oriana  Hasker  for  receiving  the  Jacinta Farrelly Social Jus ce Award. 

 PCW Young Achiever Award for Excellence The PCW Young Achiever Award  for Excellence  is sponsored by The Associa on of Parents of PCW, Off‐Campus Resident Students  Incorporated  (1986  –  2014)  and  a  group  of  five Presenta on  Sisters:  Sister  Gabriel  Cobern,  Sister  Mary Kavanagh,  Sister Robin O’Donovan,  Sister  Jane Oldman  and Sister Paschal Rushford.  It  is  a  monetary  award  of  $1000  awarded  to  a  student entering  Year  11.  In  2017 we  are pleased  to  announce  the recipient of this award was Oriana Hasker.  

Presenta on Endeavour Awards criteria We will con nue  to celebrate academic achievement across the  year  and  in  May  we  will  have  our  first  Presenta on Endeavour  Awards  assembly.  The  staff  have  provided feedback  on  the  selec on  criteria  for  these  awards.  This award will be presented to students who:  Approach  their  learning  with  determina on  and  a

Semester 2, 2017 GPA Calcula on's are now available on the Portal

Calcula ng the GPA

Using the Semester results we calculate a Grade Point Average (GPA) for all students.   This score represents the overall average a student achieves for the semester.   Scores ranges between 10‐0.      E.g. For a student to achieve a GPA score of 9 it would suggest they were typically ge ng As in that area.    E.g. For a student to achieve a GPA score of 5.5 would suggest a typical combina on of C+ and C.    The GPAs are published on the Portal and are therefore available to students, teachers and parents.   

Students with the assistance of their teachers and parents are encouraged to set their goals for individual improvement over  me.  

 Four GPA Scores are listed each semester with the following headings: Semester 2  ‐ GPA Semester 2  ‐ GPA (English/Humani es) Semester 2  ‐ GPA (Maths/Science) Semester 2  ‐ GPA (The Arts)  

How the GPA is calculated  GPA is calculated from the grades received for assessment tasks where:                    These are then averaged for the subject groupings  NOTE: ‘S’ and ‘NA’ results do not count in the GPA calcula on  Religion is under English/Humani es  The overall GPA also takes into account the language results which do not fit into one of the other three categories. 

Hence the overall GPA is not just the average of the three subject groupings.

‘Excerpt from Monica Ren, Dux of 2017, speech’ 

I am so grateful to stand here as the first  Interna onal Student to receive this special award.  I couldn’t have achieved this without my  loving friends and caring  teachers here at PCW. They all supported me and encouraged me during my school life.   Par cipa ng  in Music Fes val, Sport Carnivals and volunteering for Sacred Heart Mission not only helped me make more  friends  at  school but  also enabled me to feel closer to the community.   PCW  also  gave  me  a  lot  of  academic  support.  Although  I  am  an Interna onal  Student,  teachers  and  friends  never  gave  me  less  love. Moreover, they accepted and respected the cultural differences. They tried to figure out how I would consider the ques on and use different teaching ways  to  help  me  understand.  They  provided  the  most  professional academic support that allowed me to achieve the best results possible.   Also, my math teacher encouraged me to apply for university math at the University of Melbourne, which allowed me to complete the first year math course in Year 12. Now that I have graduated from PCW I have successfully entered  the Mathema cs  and  Sta s cs Department  at  the University  of Melbourne  to  con nue  my  dream  of  becoming  a  mathema cian. Hopefully, when  I graduate from the University of Melbourne,  I can come back to teach math at PCW.   A  lot  of  people  tell  you  that  Year  12  is  important;  I  want  to  tell  you something else:    Sleep well. Sleeping is what I spent most of my  me in Year 12 doing. 

Sufficient sleep will help you feel energe c in class and you will learn 

more in class rather than from your tutors. So make sure you have 7‐

8  hours’  sleep  every  night,  and  that will  help  you  save money  on 

expensive tutors.  

Have a good diet and do regular exercise. I never realized that doing 

exercise  is  important  un l  I was  sick  during my  VCE  exam!  If  you 

don’t have a clear mind, how do you make sure you can do well  in 

exams? 

Quality is more important than quan ty. Doing lots of papers doesn’t 

mean anything. Make sure you understand what each ques on asks 

you and what the concept is. Work smart not long.  

Keep calm and enjoy. In Year 12 I was extremely stressed. Most of my 

teachers no ced that. I worried about results but Ms Fimiani always 

encouraged  me  and  told  me  ‘you  can  do  it!’  So  don’t  panic, 

remember you can do it!!!!

Swimming Carnival 

Our Annual Swimming Carnival was held on Wednesday 21st February at Prahran Aqua c Centre.  We were lucky to have 

the weather on our side except for the occasional wind gust.  

Our Sports Leaders  jumped straight  in and began se ng up  their House areas.    In no  me students started arriving  in 

their colourful  themes.   Kostka girls hit  it off  in  their Life Saving ou its,  in  fact some of  the patrons  thought  that  they 

worked at  the pool. Loyola  looked dashing  in  their  touch of  Irish with  the St Patricks Day  theme.   Xavier, Blue at  the 

Movies theme would have won them a Logie award whilst Nagle went to work in their Tradie ou its.  The House themes 

really were fantas c to see. 

Our Swimming Carnival is intended to be a fun and enjoyable day, encouraging maximum par cipa on and our students 

displayed that enthusiasm.  

Ms Virgato judged the chants and performances based on volume, choreography, costume and originality.  It was a tough 

decision with each student displaying pride in their House.   Congratula ons to Nagle for taking out the Spirit Award for 

2018. 

Congratula ons to Kostka who took out the overall Compe on points. Well done to all

students who par cipated in the Carnival, helped out or were there cheering for their

house members.

Throughout the past six years as a member of the PCW Community, the Annual Music Fes val has to be the highlight. Every year I con nue to be amazed at the opportuni es provided to us. Not many girls my age would have the privilege of saying that every year of their high school life, they were fortunate enough to perform at a

venue as amazing as Hamer Hall. Music Fes val is an opportunity for girls across all year levels to make friends, showcase their crea vity and

talent, as well as come together not only as a House group, but as a whole school community. I couldn’t stop smiling during the event, I was so proud of every single girl and all their amazing achievements. Monday night was one of the most amazing nights of my life, all thank you to the beau ful girls of PCW, the

hardworking Year 12s, Music Captains, Heads of House, Leadership Team, Music Staff and Mr Godbold. I hope this amazing fes val will con nue to prosper for all future students of PCW, it is definitely a night I will

Welcome BBQ

On  Tuesday  20th  February,  PCW  hosted  the  Year  7 Welcome BBQ Evening. It was a fantas c night. The sun was  shining,  parents  and  students  were  smiling  and there was a wonderful vibe around the school.  

The Welcome BBQ is a great opportunity for parents to meet  some  of  the  girl’s  Homeroom  Teachers,  the Leadership  Team,  Heads  of  House,  their  new  friends and  other  parents,  and  to  gain  a  li le  more informa on about the curriculum offered to the Year 7 students this year.  

We  began  with  a  BBQ  outside  the  Rahilly  building before parents and students moved  to the hall where they  heard  from  a  number  of  members  of  the leadership  team.  We  were  lucky  to  hear  from  the following staff:

Parents  then  for  the  first  me  experienced  the  old tradi on  of  watching  their  daughters  sing  the  PCW School Song. I was so proud of the girls, I cannot begin to imagine how the parents felt.

My first week at PCW was amazing because everyone was so  nice  and  kind  and  you  know  that  someone  is  always there for you. It is a big jump from primary school but we all got  there. Thanks  to PCW,  I am also finding out more about my faith.

My name is Audrey Smart and I have recently completed my first week of Year 7 at PCW. This week was the craziest week of my life, with rehearsals and sign ups; it was truly amazing. During the week everyone found their place and made new friends whilst naviga ng classes and handing in homework. There is so much more to High School than what we ever imagined but there was never a moment where I wished I was anywhere else! My name is Arnika and I want to tell you about my first week at this wonderful school, PCW. Did you know that the words ‘Omnia Cum Deo’ on the school logo is La n for ‘Everything for God’? My first week at PCW has been stressful, you have trouble opening and organising your locker, you are unsure of what to bring to class, or even where the class is in the school. However I have made some incredible friends, and I like my classes be er than my primary school classes. In high school you move around a lot more which makes the social side of school so much easier, because I am a shy girl. PCW has helped me talk to more people, during recess or lunch me and going between different classes. High School is a big step in life; however not nearly as big as University , or so I’ve been told. In Primary School, I was one of the big fish in the li le pond, but now, in High School I am one of the li le fish in the big pond. Lots of Year 12’s have told me to do as much as you can before you have VCE or a bucket load more homework, because they didn’t get that chance, and now they don’t want me to lose that chance. So, I would just like to reinforce, what I always say, ‘Stay Posi ve, Work Hard and walk on the road to Success’. Arnika Wain—7 Loyola

I have been at PCW for over a week now and I love high school! You hear alot of things from older family members and friends and it scared me so much that I did not want to start. However, as soon as I had my first day, I had so much fun and I could not wait to con nue.

On my first day at PCW going to classes was so fun. I made alot of friends and met new people to hang out with. Once I got a feel of what high school was like, it was a lot different from what I heard. I have homework, have met my teachers, and started learning the Year 7 dance for Music Fes val.

Everyone at PCW is so nice and friendly. The teachers are great and really helpful!

Loyola News 

It has been a crazy start to Term 1 for all our Loyola students. The girls have been busy rehearsing for Music Fes val, signing up for the Swimming Carnival events, Opening of the School Year Mass, Open Day tour guides, the Year 7 Welcome BBQ Evening and Senior Informa on Evening.   The Year 7 students have se led in well. The girls in Loyola have really embraced the Year 7‐12 structure and I feel like they are smiling all the  me. No doubt they feel exhausted and a li le overwhelmed; however, they are managing themselves with so much maturity.  Our Year 8 girls have been busy se ling in. It is amazing how many students in Year 8 know our Year 7 Loyola girls. They have really helped the girls se le in and have been fantas c in answering  ques ons  and  helping  the  girls with  lockers  and  finding  their way  around  the school.   The Loyola Year 9 girls are ge ng ready for camp on Monday 19th March un l Wednesday 21st March. Here they will enjoy surfing, tree surfing, community service and beach walks. I look forward to ge ng to know the girls be er while we are away in Balnarring.   It has been a big jump for the Year 10 girls moving in to the senior school. Some of our students have begun VCE subjects and some of the girls are realising that their workload has increased dras cally.   The Year 11 and 12 students have managed the start of term well. The girls have worked well together  in bringing the Loyola Music Festival  theme  to  life. They are  to be commended  for  their passion, excitement and organisation  in  the  lead up  to  this event.  

The Swimming Carnival was a huge success for Loyola. We almost beat the 6‐ me winners ‘Kostka’; however, we

were gracious in defeat, narrowly missing out by 120 points. Second is amazing and I know that we will be chasing our back‐to‐back Athle cs Carnival result of 1st. I am so proud to be the Loyola Head of House. The girls are fabulous and have really shown amazing Loyolian spirit. Well done to our sport captains and vice – Hannah Lynch, Molly Dunham, Joan Hodgson and Bryde Jeffery. They did an amazing job. A big congratula ons to our House Swimming award recipients. Art  

In Year 8 MYP Art students are exploring different materials and techniques  in  three dimensional art making. At  the moment  they are  learning  about  relief  sculptures  and  carving  their  own  small pieces. A er comple ng a number of trials the students will create their own sculpture with a focus on communica on. Below are see some samples of their work in progress.  

Year 11 Art & Studio Arts students commenced their work with a photography assignment to seek out the elements and principles of art. The work was impressive and shows a strong sense of individual style and aesthe cs. Please see some of

Three Schools One Community 

VCE Cross Campus Ceremony

Our  close  partnership  with  CBC  St  Kilda  allows  our  two  schools  to  come 

together  as  one  in  senior  years.  The  schools  combine  to  offer  41  VCE 

subjects, giving our students a wide selec on of opportuni es. Last week we 

brought the senior students together to celebrate this partnership at our VCE 

cross campus assembly.   

PCW & CBC Theatre Studies 

Monday March 5 2018 

Recently the PCW and CBC 1/2 Theatre Studies class embarked 

on a learning experience of the theatre and its inner workings in 

addi on  to  seeing  the  cri cally  acclaimed  play,  The  Curious 

Incident of the Dog in the Night‐Time. We partook in a physically 

challenging ac ng workshop that provided much insight into the 

difficul es of working with an ensemble. Before walking into the 

workshop I thought, ac ng, anyone can do it right? No. It takes a 

lot more than meets the eye, even for the ac ng job of an extra. 

We  were  forced  to  delve  into  these  unknown  characters, 

stepping  into  the  actors  shoes  (of  the play we were  to  see  in 

two days) for two hours. It was amazing to see the dynamics of 

an ensemble of actors and even how the smallest details such as 

a turn can completely change a scene for the be er.  

Thursday  was  the  big  day,  before  seeing  the  play  in  the 

a ernoon we went  to  a  technical workshop  specifically made 

about The Curious  Incident.    In this workshop we were  let  into 

the spectacular world in which this play is set; the show's set is 

almost en rely  reliant on  ligh ng,  sound, and projec ons with 

hundreds of individual lights and sound files powering the show, 

so for our class to be able to learn all the secrets of the amazing 

set was fantas c!  

Now  for  the main event,  the  show  itself was nothing  short of 

spectacular  I  can't  tell  you how  lucky we were  to  see  such an 

amazing produc on with school. The Curious  Incident  is a non‐

naturalis c  play  adapted  from  the  Mark  Haddon’s  cri cally 

acclaimed  novel  of  the  same  name  by  Simon  Stephens.  It’s 

about  a boy named Christopher Boone who  tries  to  solve  the 

murder of his neighbour’s dog and all that ensues; the set, as  I 

said, was  the star of  the play;  the characters were  so  intricate 

and  personable;  the  dialogue  was  funny,  sad,  realis c, 

everything  you'd  hope  for.  The  a en on  to  detail  was 

impeccable  and  overall  it  le   you  stunned  and  speechless, 

wan ng more. 

 I can safely say that the entire experience of The Curious Incident 

of the Dog in the Night‐Time is one that will be hard to forget!  

Charlo e Carnes – PCW Student 

CBC and PCW  students par cipa ng  in  the Unit 1 & 2 Theatre 

Studies  class  had  the  opportunity  to  par cipate  in  an  ac ng 

workshop  held  by  The  Na onal  Theatre,  London  who  are 

currently touring ‘The Curious  Incident of the Dog  in the Night‐

Time’. We were able  to work with  the  resident director of  the 

show Kim Pearce to gain a deeper understanding of the process 

which  the actors go  through  to  fully bring  the  characters  they 

play,  and  the  show  to  life.  The  ac vi es  we  par cipated  in 

ranged from physically demanding teamwork building exercises, 

to  analysing  por ons  of  script  to  gain  further  informa on  on 

how  professional  actors  would  fully  express  the  emo onal 

complexity of their characters. Speaking on behalf of  the boys, 

we  found  the  workshop  very  enlightening.  Seeing  how  these 

actors  work  to  get  into  the  headspace  to  perform  a  non‐

tradi onal  show  was  something  incredibly  interes ng  and 

something we as  theatre  students could use  in  rela on  to our 

own produc ons. Our experiences and knowledge accumulated 

from  the  workshop  was  further  enriched  when  we  had  the 

opportunity  to  see  the  show,  and  see  how  the  hard work  of 

everyone on and behind the stage payed off.

Over the summer break our 2017 Year 12 Cohort received their first round ter ary offers. 74% of students received an offer for one of  their first  three preferences.  They  are  set  to  study  in 13 of Melbourne’s  ter ary  ins tu ons  in  a  variety of courses, as can be seen in the charts below. Well done graduates of 2017!

The current cohort of Year 12 students will be  introduced to VTAC and how to begin the process of thinking about their journey beyond school early in Term 2.  This will include 20 minute group interviews discussing the applica on process and ge ng ready for their individual interviews about course selec on in Term 3. I ask that the girls regularly check their emails for interview  mes and other university and careers based informa on.

Careers 

Year 10 Work Experience  is an opportunity to get the feel of a par cular career. This is offered to Year 10s in three 

blocks of  me over the year. Students choose one week  in any given block and need to apply to do this. They have all been emailed informa on about this process and they will have a briefing in March. In Term 2 all Year 10s will par cipate in a Pathways Program that  includes a visit to the VCE and Careers Expo at the Caulfield race course. All of which might help them think about appropriate work experience placements. The blocks of  me for work experience are as follows: 

Term 2: Monday 7th May‐Friday 25th May 

Term 3:Monday 30th July ‐ Friday 17th Aug 

Term 4: Monday 8th Oct‐ Friday 26th Oct 

During the course of the year students in Years 7‐9 will also have opportuni es to look at how they learn and their future pathways at various sessions during the year. The first sessions this year will be as part of the Year 9 Eachtra Program during the week of March 19th. I will be working with Ms Angela Beilby (Interna onal Student Coordinator) and Ms Fiona Sayner (Head of Student Pathways) to look at job interview skills and how to write a cover le er and resume.  I encourage you to take part in this when invited and to discuss the subject ma er with your daughters.  

Year 11 Students are encouraged  to make appointments as  they  feel  they need  them  to discuss  their  futures beyond school. It is never too early to make a plan!

It  is  never  too  early  to  think  about what  you want  to  do  beyond  life  at  PCW Melbourne  and  the  Careers Room  has numerous resources to get you thinking. The VTAC (Victorian Ter ary and Admissions Centre) website contains a number of useful publica ons and the course search link: h p://delta.vtac.edu.au/CourseSearch/searchguide.htm is a par cularly useful tool for those in years 10 to 12. They also publish various year level specific informa on: h p://www.vtac.edu.au/publica ons/ 

Another  useful  online  Careers  resource  is  the Governments My Future website:  http://myfuture.edu.au/  and Youth Central: http://www.youthcentral.vic.gov.au/. 

For VCE  ps and study skills, I encourage your daughters to subscribe to TSFX: h p://www.tsfx.com.au/  They provide lots of useful stats and  ps to keep them mo vated as well as  lecture programs. Subject teachers will generally have flyers about these. 

Open days are a way to get a feel for a university and once the full list of dates is published I will put it up on the Pathways Wiki. This website will also has a list for ins tu ons Australia wide: h p://www.openday.com.au/.  

We subscribe to Career News and you will find the first newsle er a ached here. I also place these on the Pathways Wiki and  email  it  to  all  senior  students.  These  have  a wealth  of  informa on with  regards  to  open  days,  other  university sessions, folio prepara on workshops and other ter ary and career pathway related ma ers so well worth a read.
