CT systems. VGStudio MAX allows its users to import any kind of data. A sophisticated import wizard supports its users to get their data loaded. Data sets loaded will be displayed immediately as 3D view as well as in three orthogonal slice image views. With its ultra fast volume rendering performance VGStudio MAX allows its users to move, rotate,clip, zoom its data and therewith to get a highly detailed view of their data sets. An easy to use tool – the keyframer –allows VGStudio MAX usersto generate astonishing animations of their datato present analysisresults in the mostimpressive way.

Overview
VGStudio MAX is able to handle even largest voxel data sets with more than 10 GB in size on a 64-bit PC.
VGStudio MAX is based on Volume Graphics’ industries leading VGL® voxel graphics technology. VGL® enables VGStudio MAXto handle even largest data sets with interactive performance on a regular PC. Visualization with highest levels of details and analysis tasks of data sets with more than 1 GB in size are no longer a dream. VGL®
and VGStudio MAX are developedwith two major requirements of our customers in mind. High performance and low resource consumption!

Measurement Tools
VGStudio MAX provides a powerful set of tools to measure different parameters directly on the voxel data.
VGStudio MAX includes tools to measure distances (including a grey value profile view), min. distance within a user defined area, angles, surface areas and volumes. In addition to these parameters several statistical image processing parameters can be determined. A foam structure analysis tool is also included.

Segmentation &Grey-Value-Classification
VGStudio MAX includes a set of powerful toolsto segment any structure within a CT-/voxel- data sets.
Fast and easy to use 3D and 2D segmentation and grey-value-classification tools are available to separate any object or structure within a voxel data set. Even hollow structures, like the water-jacket shown in the example, can be extracted and processed as solid object. Extract the segmented structures as separate data sets to analyze (e.g. determine the objects volume) or further process the data (e.g. extract an STL file of the structure).

Iso-Surface Extraction
Highly precise and fast iso-surface extraction algorithms are available to generate a polygonal model of CT data.
VGStudio MAX’ integrated mesh optimization and repair
algorithms generate high quality meshes.
Export the optimized polygonal model as STL or VRML file for use within any 3rd party software.
VGStudio MAX includes a fast tool to extractiso-surface models of CT-/voxel- data with STL file export.

VGStudio MAX is designed to utilizemodern PCs and workstations in an optimal way.
Minimum system requirements are:
- Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP, Linux or MAX OS X operating system.- About 100 MB + user data of disk space. - Pentium IV class CPU or higher.- 256 MB of RAM .- No special 3D graphics hardware is
required for release 1.2.
Optimal system:
- Windows 64Bit, Linux 64 Bit or MAX OS X operating system.- About 200 MB + user data of disk space. - Multiprocessor system with two or more of
the latest Intel Xeon, AMD Opterondual-core or Itanium II processors.
- > 4 GB of RAM.- High End Graphics Board
for future expansion,e.g. from ATI, Nvidia or 3Dlabs
The multithreaded implementation of nearly all VGStudio MAX features leads to a significant performance increase on multiprocessor PCs, e.g. rendering performance will nearly double on today’s dual processor PCs compared to a single processor PC. Therefore we recommend dual processor PCs for optimal performance. The total system memory requirements depend strongly on the users typical data set sizes. A professional user should install about twice the memory of his largest data sets for optimal performance. On 32Bit Windows XP Professional, Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Linux VGStudio MAX is able to utilize up to 3GB of RAM. On 64 Bit platforms like Windows XP or Linux VGStudio MAX is able to utilize the maximum amount of memory limited by either the operating system or the hardware.
