    The India International Trade Fair (IITF) began in 1980 and since then has evolved as major event

    for the business community. It is a leading event organized by the India Trade Promotion

    Organization (ITPO). The IITF was held at Pragati Maidan, Delhi, from November 14th to 27 th

    Nov 2011. This years focus was on Indian Handicrafts: The Magic of Gifted Hands

    The IITF is a major tourist attraction in the city of Delhi and lakhs of people visit this fair

    every year. This annual event acts as a platform for manufacturers, traders, exporters and importersand displays a wide range of products and services

    The IITF is one of the largest trade fairs in the world, in terms of exhibitors and visitor

    participation and has evolved as an iconic national event. The unique aspect of the IITF is the

    participation of almost all states and union territories of India, apart from domestic and foreigncompanies. In this show Jharcraft and Khadi Board will lead the show for Jharkhand at the India

    International Trade Fair (IITF) at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi where Indian handicrafts is theme

    for this years event. Jharkhand is a partner state and would have more than 30 stalls amidst state

    specific ambience complete with art installations by a professional group from Kolkata and a tallstatue of Birsa Munda

    The stalls would showcase a rich spectrum of economic activities and opportunities in Jharkhand

    while also reflecting its culture. Cottage industries at village level like tribal jwellery, herbal &medicinal products, live demonstration of lac bangle making, patkar paintings and dokra works,

    bamboo furniture and woodwork, would share the pavilion with giant corporations in mining, steel

    and power sectors etc. Government departments like Tourism, Mines and Energy along with non

    government corporations like Tata, Jindal, Electro, Metalsa and Arcellor Mittal are putting upstalls.

    The state pavilion has a 2,240 sq mtrs of carpet area which has however been allocated in a corner

    where special efforts may be required to pull large crowd. The partner tag has reportedly cost the

    state Rs 40 lac in return for facilities like a 2 page colour ad in the IITF souvenir and coverage inadvertisements. The infrastructural work for the pavilion is slated to be complete by tomorrow,

    about a week before the fair commences on 19th November. The stalls of the other Partner state

    Bengal, and the two focus states Bihar and Orissa are better located and are already complete.
