Abstract Background: The number of conflicts and the

necessity to search for the best strategies for their solution have brought an idea for studying the relation between leadership styles and conflict management strategies.

Objectives: The main purpose of the study is to consider the impact of leadership styles on the conflict management strategies in business communication.

Abstract Methods: The research is based on two

questionnaires: the Northouse’s leadership style questionnaire and Thomas-Kilman conflict model.

Results: Democratic leadership style prefers compromising strategy for conflict resolving and avoiding model. Laissez-faire leadership style also refers to avoiding model. Autocratic leadership style is focused on competing model.

Conclusions: The leadership style selected for the company management influences the selection of the conflict management strategy

Discussion

The results have shown that most of the respondents prefer democratic leadership style with compromising strategy for conflict resolving. Fewer respondents refer to avoiding model of conflict management strategy supporting the democratic leadership style. Leaders supporting laissez-faire leadership style also refer to avoiding model. The supporters of the autocratic leadership style are more interested in competing model of behavior for conflict management.
