Christmas is almost here and every family deserves a holiday dinner. Local Community Outreach needs food that will be donated to families as a holiday donation. If you would like to donate, you may drop your item(s) off either in the AAC or at Community Outreach, 229 N. Cedar, (417) 667-4339.
Many thanks to the Cottey employees who participated in Cottey Jeans Day last week. We raised $205 for the Children's Center of Southwest Missouri. The organization could not have been more thrilled with the funds.
Open enrollment for flexible spending accounts for medical and dependent care is during December. Look for information and enrollment forms in your campus email. Please note: Due to government regulations, beginning January 2013, the allowed maximum will be $2,500 for a medical flex spending account. Dependent care allowed maximum remains at $5,000. Enrollment forms are due by December 31, 2012.
The Office of Human Resources is currently advertising for a data entry clerk for the Office of Institutional Advancement, a webmaster for the Office of Public Information, and a prospect researcher/campaign coordinator for the Campaign office.

Alumna Maggie Bridger (2008) will be on campus January 17-20, 2013. Her area of study is the disabled body in performance and in culture. She will be presenting in classes and setting a piece on the Cottey-in-Motion Dance Company. If you would like Maggie to speak in one of your classes, contact Jo Byrnes at [email protected] or x2250.
Governor Nixon is currently working on his budget for the coming year and Sherry Pennington would like to ask you to take action today to advocate for increased Access Missouri funding. With the current economy, more students need Access Missouri, resulting in decreased award amounts.
Please go to http://keepmeincollege.org/emailNixon/ and send a quick message to the Governor. It only takes a couple of minutes.
Thanks for your help!

eThe Student Activities Council (SAC) took the Center for Women’s Leadership Kitchen Challenge on December 2. The CWL Kitchen Challenge is a team-building activity allowing small groups of students to raid the CWL cabinets, develop a menu, and work as a team to create a meal, all under 30 minutes!
Can your group take the heat? To find out, contact [email protected] and schedule your Kitchen Challenge.
If you have any burned out strings of Christmas lights, don't throw them away, recycle them! They have small amounts of toxic material and shouldn't go in the garbage anyway.
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, (home of "they recycle almost everything") recycles them and by coincidence, Helen Lodge will visiting there in just a few weeks and would love to take them. Just get them to Helen by December 20 or earlier.
If the world ends on the 21st as predicted, they won't be recycled but we probably won't care. Thank you on behalf of the future generations.
