The University of Illinois will be hosting Homecoming 2015 from October 18th through the 25th. The women of 4-H House invite you to join us on October 24th for a tour of our newly renovated house, brunch in the morning, and an opportunity to meet our fabulous new members! The annual meeting will be held at 4-H House that morning with a Fighting Illini football game to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. If you have any questions or ideas of what you would like to see at Homecoming, please contact the Homecoming Chair, Hannah Teske, at [email protected]. We are excited to show off the renovations and hope to see you all there!

Pat Clickener, ‘67 wondered how much she saved by living at 4-H House. She found she had saved $1,000 and also discovered that current members save $25,000 over four years, which is almost the amount of debt the typical student graduates with. “Friendships and teamwork skills would be reason enough to live at 4-H House, but the money saved is incredible. Four years in 4-H House, all that fun and no crushing debt later,” exclaimed Pat.
Our generous donors contributed $427,300 in FY14 & FY15 and have pledged an additional $71,766. These amounts represent more than one third of the $1.25 million goal we set but that leaves two-thirds to go. It’s time to send that gift you’ve been thinking about so more young women can benefit from 4-H House.

4-H House is excited to welcome 21 new members this year. These ladies hail from 20 hometowns across the state of Illinois with both rural and urban backgrounds. They represent 9 majors across campus. This enthusiastic group of girls is bringing lots of energy and excitement to our house. We are eager to see what the future has in store with these ladies representing 4-H House.

The family of Charlotte Castle Neal generously donated $200,000 to establish a new scholarship. The first scholarship recipient will be named at Homecoming 2015. The Charlotte Castle Neal Scholarship is a tribute to the sisters of 1943 in recognition of their enduring friendship and a reminder of the bonds they have shared.
Charlotte Castle Neal possessed and treasured qualities of spirit, determination and persistence. She would not be interested in test scores or other innate abilities. However, she would be interested in the effort and commitment that candidates exhibit as the principal criteria for this scholarship.
The scholarship will provide a $6,000 annual award for up to four years (for a total of $24,000) to a potential new member. After the recipient graduates or is no longer eligible, a new recipient will be chosen through an application and interview process.
The Mary McKee Educational Fund extends our sincere appreciation to the Charlotte Castle Neal Family for establishing this scholarship. This scholarship, like other named scholarships 4-H House women have access to, will definitely make a difference for 4-H House women, which was the greatest desire of the family.

Nicole Crites, ‘94, Mary McKee Board ChairThe ladies of 4-H House would like to thank everyone who helped with or gave contributions to the house renovations. I know we all enjoy studying with new lights and in the air conditioning. Having brand new bathrooms is also a wonderful new addition. These renovations have created a new, fresh environment throughout the house. This is not our house, it is our home and I think I can speak for everyone when I say we love it here!
