The High-Schooler's

Guide to Selecting

the Right College

Selecting the right college can bean intimidating process for teenagers.

Some of them would choosewhere their friends are attendingor what the college reputation is.

Sabrina Conlee,a Metro Tech Biomedical Sciences Academy

Teacher, has a say about this matter. She gladly shared helpful hints she uses

to guide the students in her class.

FACTORS SHOULD A HIGH SCHOOLSTUDENT TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION

WHEN CHOOSING A COLLEGE

1. Class size:

A bigger school for you who won't mindattending a class with 250-300 students.

A smaller one for you who needsmore one-on-one contact.

2. Professional opportunities:

For instance, if you are considering ascience major then look for a college

that has a well developedundergraduate research program.

3. Social opportunities:

Campus student organizations are a greatway to network with individuals with

similar interests and studies.

BIGGEST MISTAKES STUDENTS MAKEWHEN CHOOSING A COLLEGE:

1. Based solely on reputation.

Na-ah!Just because the college is bigand well-known doesn't mean

it's the best fit for you or your goals.

2. Choosing a college because it's whereall your friends are attending.

You know what, sometimes it's goodto be different than everyone else.
