Honda Motor Co. plans to start a second shift at its Greensburg plant by the end of the

year and will double its current work force by hiring up to 1,000 employees. Plant

spokeswoman Anita Sipes said Tuesday morning that the Japanese automaker plans tosignificantly ramp up production at its Decatur County plant about 50 miles southeast

of Indianapolis. She said the second shift has been planned since the factory opened in

2008 but the recession put those plans on hold. With the economic rebound, she said

this seemed like a natural time to add the second shift. With everything that hap-

pened in Japan, with the earthquake, we need to be ready to meet customer demand,

she said. The plant has been operating at half-capacity for a few months, Sipes said, fol-

lowing supply disruptions created by the huge earthquake and tsunami on March 11. |

Green Jobs Dominate Ranking of Fastest-Hiring Industries

Say what you will about the costs and benefits of policies promoting clean energy in the

long run, the evidence suggests that those policies are putting large numbers of people

to work in the United States. Green jobs are the sweet spot in an otherwise bitter econ-omy, according to a new ranking of the of fastest hiring industries by IBISWorld, a

market-research firm based in Los Angeles. Each industry on the list fell into one or

more of five sectors: environmental preservation, construction, automotive, real estate

and insurance, said Justin Molavi, IBISWorld industry analyst. Green jobs are esti-

mated to grow by and 6.3% annually over the next five years, expanding by nearly 20%

by 2016, according to estimates by IBISWorld. | Source:http://onforb.es/ltkkJW

Where the jobs are: Top U.S. cities hiring now

Despite dreary reports on the lagging economy, certain American cities are in fact hir-

metropolitan areas report an increase in private-sector hiring. In fact, according to data

from US Department of Labor, more than 90 percent of the country's largest metro ar-

eas experienced a drop in unemployment in April. Don't get too excited yet. Or...okay,

maybe little bit excited...Top 10 metro areas for jobs: 1. Washington, DC-Arlington-

Alexandria... Industries to Watch: Demand is strong in architecture/engineering, as

well as in the related categories of construction/extraction and installation/repair and
