Arnesby C. of E. Primary School

This year‘s Harvest Festival in St Peter‘s Church was at-tended by over thirty friends, families and Governors. After a welcome by Rev‘d Andy Rhoades the children took over, with readings, prayers and superb singing, despite having had only two weeks of

the new term to prepare. They had researched some in-teresting facts on where our food comes from, how we can all cut down on the number of food miles in our weekly shop, whilst also remembering those who do not have enough to eat or do not have clean water. In line with this the school has been awarded the Food for life Partnership Bronze Award. The work involved a school nutrition group ‖snag‖ (pictured above) and a lot of hard work by Mrs Poncelet. Leicester Constabulary is asking people to avoid the risk of car theft this winter: Last winter dozens of cars were stolen in Leicestershire while owners left them defrosting with their car engines run-ning. Thieves see frosty mornings as an opportunity. If your car is stolen while you have left the keys in it, you may find your insurance will not cover you. You could also be guilty of an offence if you leave the engine running while it is parked on the road.

I was very pleased to see such a turn out by parents, the congregation and the community at our annual harvest festival, thank you. Our school understands the value of working with the local community and church and there is a vacancy for a Com-munity Governor on the Governing Body. If you would like to be considered for this post, please write a short letter about yourself and send it to the school. Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Neighbour-hood Watch: At this time of year Deer poaching and Hare coursing becomes an issue across the County. Everyone in the rural com-munity should be extra vigilant for any signs of dead animals/remains/blood in fields, unusual tyre marks in fields or suspicious vehicles or activity. Please report any of the above to Leicestershire Constabulary without delay on 0116 222 2222. Please, under NO circumstances approach anyone you believe is engaged in these activities. A rise in shed break ins is seen at this time of year because people store garden equipment there for the winter and thieves know this. You are urged to buy a shed padlock alarm, which are available from the Neighbourhood Watch stall in Harborough‘s indoor market between 9am-1pm on the first Tuesday of the month, priced £12.50. A 34year old man has had his stolen ipad returned to him after tracking it using the free software installed on it. All owners of ipads and the latest iphones are urged to download the free software onto their equipment.
