Collaboration and co-production: doing it well

A one day course in behaviour management

Most managers and supervisors face the same question, “How do I get people to give their best efforts in their jobs andto the organisation?”

Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC)

GIRFEC and children’s wellbeing

The wellbeing of children and young people is at the heart of The Scottish Government’s Getting It Right For EveryChild. The approach uses eight areas of wellbeing in which children and young people need to progress in order to dowell now and in the future. The eight indicators - are Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Respected,Responsible, Include. These eight areas are set in the context of the ‘four capacities’ at the heart of the Curriculumfor Excellence. These aim to enable every child and young person to be a successful learner, a confidentindividual, a responsible citizen and an effective contributor.

At this free session, Lynn Townsend, Implementation Advisor of Scottish Governments GIRFEC Team, will talk about how GIRFEC is aiming to implement a joined up, collaborative approach to children’s wellbeing.

An interactive training for trainers workshop on Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC).

GIRFEC is the overarching Scottish Government policy for all children’s services in Scotland both statutory and voluntary.Key elements of which it is proposed to be enshrined in legislation through the Children and Young People (Scotland) Bill. This workshop will seek to provide an overview of the GIRFEC approach and developments. It will seek to set GIRFECwithin the broader strategic context of a range of Scottish Government policy initiatives in the led up to the Children andYoung People (Scotland) Bill. It will also seek to follow the GIRFEC process through from a child’s involvement in uni-versal services of Health and Education, through the raising of initial concerns up to active engagement by services.

This workshop has been developed from materials from a range of sources including Highland Child ProtectionCommittee, West Lothian Council and the Scottish Government “Guide to Getting it right for every child”. The sessionwill seek to develop a programme building on a tried and tested template that is fit for use by a wide range of ThirdSector organisation within Glasgow City.

Child Protection: technology, internet and social media

The internet is such an integral part of children and young people’s lives and it opens up so many educational and social opportunities, giving them access to a world of information and experiences. As technology advances, the ways in which we communicate, receive and send information constantly change. This provides a great opportunity for organisations to promote their activities andcommunicate easily with members but it can also put children and young people at considerable risk, which is why safeguards mustbe put in place.

Whether on a computer at school, a laptop at home, a games console or mobile phone, children and young people are increasinglyaccessing the internet whenever they can and wherever they are. As you would protect children and young people in the real world, you will want to make sure that they are safe whatever they are doing.
