The Fiverr Work Week

The Fiverr Work Week:

Make Over $500 A Month On

Fiverr.com With Easy Gigs! First off, thank you for purchasing The Fiverr Work Week!

In case you don’t already know, Fiverr is an online community of people that offer up their services for money, and the base price is $5.00.

This guide will give you essential tips on successfully using the Fiverr platform to make good money. In addition, I will also share my seven favorite, most profitable gigs AND give you some extra bonus ideas to get you headed in the right direction. The best part of all is that these gigs are in the writing/creativity category (eliminating the need to stand in front of the Space Needle holding a sign half naked!).

The Fiverr Work Week can be broken down into three (3) steps.

Put Up Gig A Gig That’s Easy To Complete

Complete The Gig Order In 15 Minutes Or Less

Cash Out!

Simple, right? Well, it will be once you read this guide.

Throughout the guide, I will give you quick tips that have helped me increase my profit and decrease the time I spend working on each gig. I have also included some gigs to steer clear of.

Fiverr can be a great selling platform, but it can also quickly turn into a time and energy black hole. Learn how to make sure you are getting the right price for your services while also streamlining the business aspects for efficiency.

Let’s get started!

The Fiverr Work Week

About Me

My name is Adam Rockwell, and I’m a freelance business and copywriter. EVERYBODY was (and still IS) talking about Fiverr, so I decided to check it out. It has now been over three years that I have successfully used Fiverr to supplement my income.

My first gig was an offer to write a professional press release. In just a few days, I was averaging more than ten orders a day and I was seriously stressed out. So many orders were coming in that I had to suspend the gig! A year later I erased the press release gig altogether. It was too time consuming for the payoff, even with the upsell “extras” that I was able to include. I knew that there had to be a better way to approach Fiverr.

During my Fiverr journey, I met a lot of great people that were struggling with similar issues. How can you work on Fiverr without getting burned out and severely devaluing your time? As the pieces started falling into place, I decided to develop a map for others. That’s why I developed The Fiverr Work Week.

For the last two years I have been able to narrow down my list of gigs to ones that are easy, fairly quick, and fun to complete. That’s The Fiverr Work Week in a nutshell.

Nowadays, I only activate a few gigs when I am bored or need to make some extra money. You can do the same, and this guide helps you avoid the pitfalls so you can focus on the money.

The Fiverr Work Week

What’s Up With The Name?

I love the book, The Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss. Obviously, the name The Fiverr Work Week is a play on that title. I’m always looking for ways to make money while avoiding going to a real job, and Fiverr has turned out to be a great way for me to make extra income.

The Fiverr Work Week also represents the amount of time I spend working on gigs at Fiverr each week. . . five hours. When I’m really hitting the Fiverr gigs, a typical month of gigs can equal over $900.00.

Obviously, you can do much more in gig sales if you are interested in full time Fiverr work. In fact, there are lots of people that make a full time income on Fiverr. You can run 20 gigs at a time and make $4,000 a month. . . but if you go that route you need to be prepared to handle multiple gigs and TONS of buyer questions.

The Fiverr Work Week isn’t about arbitrage or outsourcing or any of that other stuff. I find all of that to be WAY too much work. I’d rather just provide a great service to people that is quick and easy to do . . . and make some great money while doing it!

Setting Up Your Account

Let’s start at the beginning, and get your account set up. Head over to www.fiverr.com and click “Start Selling.” A signup form pops up and asks you to enter your email:

The Fiverr Work Week

QUICK TIP

It is against the terms of service on Fiverr to sell from multiple accounts. It also doesn’t make much sense if you are running your Fiverr gigs as a business. After all, you can run up to 20 gigs at a time. That will keep anyone busy. BUT, if you want one to buy and one to sell, perhaps considering having a spouse or family member registering another account.

Personally, I don’t worry about it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once you have entered your email, you need to verify it. Just check your email and follow the instructions. Once you have verified it, you can connect your Fiverr account to Paypal and create your profile through the Fiverr account settings.

About your username. When you choose your Fiverr username, I suggest using your real name. It makes the experience more personal, buyers like knowing they are working with a real person, and they remember that when it comes time to give you feedback.

If you don’t want to use your full name, which is completely understandable, you could also consider using something such as “Adam_Writes_Copy” . . . or something relevant to what you will be doing on Fiverr.

Other ideas for usernames:

Creative_Writing_Gigs

I_Love_To Write

Oregon_Writer

The_Write_Way

You get the idea. I don’t know if any of the above are available, but you can do different variations on this theme.

The Fiverr Work Week

Your Profile

Okay, this is actually very important! The profile is what buyers use to decide if they want to do business with you.

As I said earlier, use your real name and post a real picture. Highlight your strengths. Also, if you’re working in a creative writing field, many buyers like to know you’re a native English speaker and writer. You can be subtle, and let your profile do the talking or for you, or be specific and state this as a selling point. Make your Fiverr profile fun, direct and personable.

Here’s what my Fiverr profile has said for the past year:

Hey Fiverr Community, thanks for checking out my gigs! I mostly write

promotional material and work professionally as a copywriter. I live with

my family in Oregon in the U.S. of A. Feel free to message me with any

questions about any of my services. GO FIVERR!

Here’s a screenshot of my in-Gig profile. You should try for something like it:

QUICK TIP

If you REALLY don’t want people to know that you are selling on Fiverr, you could always use an icon or a cartoon and a username that is NOT your real name – Fiverr will let you have almost anything. You may not sell as many gigs . . . but I think you’ll be fine either way once you start accumulating feedback.

The Fiverr Work Week

Creating A Gig

You might be asking, “What’s a gig?” The Fiverr Work Week depends on gigs. A gig just means a small “job” in Fiverr speak. Often, this term is used to refer to single night performance of musicians. At Fiverr it is the small job that you’re willing to do for, at a minimum, five bucks.

You have to sell as many gigs as possible as quickly as possible to make as much money as possible (that was a mouthful). But, be careful and remember to only sell gigs that are VERY EASY to complete. You don’t want to write a 500 word article for $5.00… and if you do, you could easily make more money elsewhere! More on this later.

Creating a gig is easy. The first thing to consider is writing a very fun but catchy headline. Something that somebody’s going to want to CLICK!

For each of the gigs that I discuss below, I will give you some headlines to work with.

Be very thorough in the description. Here is where you outline what you will and what you won’t do. Keep it light and use a direct response writing style. Meaning, when you are writing, pretend that the person is standing in front of you and you are selling to them and only them. Directly.

Write naturally, not academically, and proofread! Especially if you are in the writing area. I’m a bad proof reader myself, so I try to get someone else to proof my gigs. When no one is around, I have found that reading out loud is a great way to check for sentence flow.

The Fiverr Work Week

Gig Videos

Gig videos are another tool buyers use to determine if they want to purchase from you. You might not like the idea, but a video is worth the time. Fiverr ranks gigs with videos higher, and making a video doesn’t have to be hard or break the bank. In fact, you can usually find somebody on Fiverr to make a video for your gig.

I use Animoto Pro to easily produce many of my Fiverr videos (animoto.com). You can sign up for just one month of Animoto for $39.00 and make all the videos you like. They have some great music tracks, and you don’t have to do any voiceover. The $39.00 is well worth it if you can swing the price. If you make up all the videos you need in the first month, you can cancel your subscription.

Another way to do the video is by recording yourself describing the gig. This personalizes the gig even more than the profile. If I didn’t mind thousands of people watching me on video I would probably say this is the best way to go with video. It’s really up to your comfort level.

Important Fiverr rule: Make sure to say, “Exclusively On Fiverr” at the end of the video or they will deny the video.

The Fiverr Work Week

Communicating With Buyers

NEVER communicate directly with your Fiverr buyers outside of the Fiverr forum. It is forbidden to do so. Fiverr wants to keep all their commissions right in their workspace. If somebody asks you to contact them via email or phone, tell them it’s not allowed. There is a relatively high probability that you could get your account banned if you give buyers your email.

Keep all of your communications within the Fiverr messaging system. I think it is a really weird “Term of Condition”, but that’s the way it is. I originally thought I might be able to drum up some outside business by sending people to my website, but that usually doesn’t work too well. Plus, people who buy on Fiverr typically don’t want to pay retail prices. Heck, they’re already getting a great deal on Fiverr from you!

The Fiverr Work Week

Delivering Your Gig

When you’re ready to deliver your gig, just go into the gig that you are working on and hit the big “Deliver Order” button. Once you’ve done that you will get the delivery screen. Here you will upload the work you have completed.

Note on delivery: I like to deliver all of my orders via a nicely formatted .pdf file or editable Word file (when called for). Just typing name ideas, emails or whatever gig you’re working on into the delivery box looks sloppy. It doesn’t take very long to do this extra step and the buyers appreciate your extra effort (something nice they can print out, etc.). DON’T include your email in the delivery note. It will be picked up by the Fiverr system, and you may be banned!

Here’s an example of the delivery box and what I write. Remember to upload the file and hit deliver!

The Fiverr Work Week

QUICK TIP

I always include a relevant copy of one of my eBooks to the buyer as a bonus such as “Trademark Questions Answered” when I submit my gig. It garners more goodwill with the buyers, especially if they don’t love whatever it is you gave them! If you can create a small .pdf giveaway of some sort (perhaps branded with your website…) you should.

Another option is purchasing what is known as a Private Label Rights (PLR) eBook. I don’t do this, but it isn’t a bad idea if you don’t have the time to make one of your own. You can purchase a PLR eBook many places online, one of the most popular is www.plrassassin.com (don’t let the name fool you, it’s a really good site, and very affordable too!). Just make sure to check the rights. Not every PLR eBook is free to giveaway. Each PLR book has different requirements.

The Fiverr Work Week

Dealing With Horrible Buyers

10% of all buyers are very, very difficult to work with (it’s just the truth!) and will demand constant revisions or give you bad feedback just to try to get a refund and free work. This is, for some reason, especially true of buyers that do not add “extras” to their gig. I don’t know why it is, but the cheaper they are, the harder they are to work with. I rarely have any trouble with people who order $70.00 worth of gigs and extras.

Anybody who gives you the slightest problem, just cancel the gig. Nothing is worth the headache of a bad Fiverr buyer. Sometimes they won’t “let” you cancel the gig. Customer service at Fiver will often not be able to help you either. Currently a mutual cancellation doesn’t count against your rating. Do what you think is right, but I recommend canceling the gig and giving a refund.

In order to cancel a gig, simply go into the gig and hit the “Resolutions Center” tab at the top of the screen. Here’s a screenshot of that:

Then, you’ll need to ask the buyer to do a “mutual cancellation.” Under the current Fiverr system, if they accept the cancellation there is no harm to your seller level or your gig status. A mutual cancellation also does not get tabulated in your cancellation percentage. Here’s a screenshot:

The Fiverr Work Week

Make sure you tell the buyer why you are cancelling . . . be polite and apologetic to get the buyer to accept the mutual cancellation. If the buyer doesn’t respond to your cancellation, it will be forcibly cancelled after two (2) days, but will not be a mutual cancellation.

Sometimes, you will get a buyer who will DENY your cancellation request! They will demand that you complete the order. In that case, you may reinstitute the cancellation request with a stronger reason. I’ve had people deny my request three (3) times . . . and eventually I gave in to protect my gig ratings. You will have to decide what to on a case by case basis.

What to do if you have an unreasonable buyer who leaves bad feedback.

If you know that a buyer is leaving bad feedback just to get you to “cancel” the gig and get their money refunded, then you MUST contact Fiverr Customer Service. Explain to them the exact, unique situation. Here is the link:

http://support.fiverr.com/

The Fiverr Work Week

The Fiverr Work Week

The Fiverr customer support will usually remove the negative feedback if you can document extortion. Make copies of the messages between you and the bad customer, copy the Gig Number and submit everything to Fiverr. When this has happened to me Fiverr Customer Support has always removed the bad feedback. Unfortunately, they won’t remove negative feedback just because you don’t agree with somebody who didn’t like your work.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

QUICK TIP

DO NOT let the few bad apple customers out there get you down. One out of ten customers will probably give you some trouble.

I say, CANCEL the gig, give them their money back and move on with your life. There’s no reason you should make yourself miserable over a $5.00 order. If it’s a $60.00 order . . . well, that’s up to you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Fiverr Work Week

Feedback

Feedback is VERY important to your rating and the amount of future sales you will make. Do everything you can to keep your customers happy. With current Fiverr star rating system, you will be rated on “Communication with Seller,” “Service as Described,” and “Would Recommend to Others.”

Most of the Fiverr sellers don’t like this system. I’m ambivalent, and it hasn’t seemed to hurt my business when somebody rates me lower in one star area such as “Communication with Seller.”

If you’re just starting off, then it’s important to have really good star ratings to “level up” and get more buyers. Do everything you can do get good ratings. You could always leave a PS in your delivery message such as:

P.S. If for any reason you feel you cannot give me a full 5 stars, let me know what I can do to increase your satisfaction. (Note: I don’t do this . . . but it is an idea.)

The Fiverr Work Week

Levels and Extras

Fiverr uses “Levels” to distinguish between newer and more advanced sellers. As you reach new levels you are able to add “Extras” to your gigs and increase your earning potential.

Extras are an essential part of the Fiverr Work Week formula. Oddly, only about half of the sellers on Fiverr use this option, and are missing out on making decent money. Later in this guide I will offer up suggestions on specific extras, until then know that you should have your “Extras” ready when you level up.

I’m a Level 2 seller, and have made good money without the “Top Rated Seller” label. Sellers are able to work up to Level 2 status relatively quickly. Learn more about the specific levels at:

https://www.fiverr.com/levels

Here are some screenshots of how to level up at Fiverr:

The Fiverr Work Week

QUICK TIP

I set delivery time for most of my gigs at seven (7) days. The faster you are able to set your gig at, the more gigs you will sell. If you have all the time in the world, setting your gig to 24 hour turnaround is a great way to get established. It might also have you pulling out your hair in short order. Once you are established, use the “Extra Fast” option and set it to two (2) days (or one day if you can deliver in that amount of time) and charge $40.00. Once you really get going, you’ll be surprised how many people are willing to pay seventy bucks for a simple gig with extras “Extra Fast.” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Fiverr Work Week

Ranking Your Gig

Unfortunately, this is a bit tricky. Fiverr’s placement of your gig(s) can be very random in nature. In order to increase your odds at being ranked high, make sure that you use the best keywords, title, and description of your gig possible. Use a good picture from a free stock photo place and make an awesome video. Need more specifics? Read on.

Fiverr sellers often complain about feast and famine it terms of sales volume. If you’re running 5-10 well written, described gigs, chances are you’ll be working often. Especially if you use some of the gigs I recommend in Section II of this guide.

Some days you’ll get lucky and your gig will show up on the Fiverr home page. I’ve had this happen a number of times . . . you know when it happens because you’ll get lots of spontaneous buyers and 10,000 views in a few hours.

Another theory that people have to get your Fiverr gig ranked is to actually use the word “Fiverr” in the gig description. You could create a simple sentence at the end such as “I only offer these copywriting services exclusively on Fiverr!” Or you could splash one or two instances of the name Fiverr within your description.

The Fiverr Work Week

Vacation Mode

At Fiverr, you are not an employee of Fiverr. You are an “independent contractor.” Regardless, Fiverr has a “Vacation Mode” that you can activate when you are unable to take new orders. This is a very useful mode, because if you need to stop taking orders, you simply go to your “Gig List” screen and in the upper right-hand corner and select “Vacation Mode.”

Here’s what it looks like:

This mode is very useful because it stops all of your gigs BUT when you come back from “Vacation” your position in the rankings is retained. Also, when buyers come to your gig pages while you’re gone, they will receive a message that you are gone . . . and they can select to be notified when you return. You are able to use Vacation Mode thirty days each year.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

QUICK TIP

When you suspend your gigs, which I often do, your gigs will not be ranked as highly when you reactivate them. Vacation Mode protects your ranking. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Fiverr Work Week

Instructions to Buyers

Make SURE that you give very thorough instructions to buyers in the Gig Instructions (when you are setting up a gig). Fiverr buyers are notorious for giving you one sentence and then expecting a stellar finished product. Heck, even with thorough instructions to buyers, you’ll still get those chuckleheads who give you one sentence orders. Ask them to elaborate . . . if they don’t, it’s probably better to cancel the gig. It all depends . . . sometimes in my naming gig I will get somebody who purchased a $5.00 order with no extras and gave me one sentence such as “I am opening a laundry shop. Need a name.” I usually will give them a list of ten names that jump into my head, send it over to them and hope for the best. 95% of the time they give me a positive review. Go figure.

Getting Paid

Once you have completed a Fiverr gig, the money you earn from the gig goes into a two (2) week holding period once the buyer has rated the gig or three (3) days have elapsed since the time of delivery. This is to ensure that there are no chargebacks or disputes from the buyer at Paypal.

In order to get paid, follow these four easy steps:

First, go to the “Revenues” section under “My Gigs.”

Second, hit the PayPal button.

A verification will be sent to your main contact email to confirm the payment.

The Fiverr Work Week

Third, confirm the payment in your email by hitting the link they send to you.

Fourth, wait for the money to arrive at PayPal! It is usually near instant, but occasionally can take a few hours.

Your Statistics

It is important to understand the statistics page of your Fiverr account. Here is a quick snapshot of my overview:

You can see that I have had 727 orders created with the average selling price of $12.00. Luckily, I have maintained a 100% rating. Don’t let a rating slip get to you; it will happen to everyone eventually. I maintain a high rating by being extremely vigilant with my buyers and trying to keep them as happy as reasonably possible. Honestly, I am surprised I’m still sitting at 100%.

Here you can see that 458 people have reviewed my gigs. I have 458 reviews, 2 of which were negative (from the thumbs up or down system). You should also note that 190 people did not rate the gig after they purchased. Many people do not want anybody to know they bought on Fiverr, so will do anything, including not leaving a review, to remain anonymous.

The Fiverr Work Week

I also have a 9% cancellation rate. This is slightly higher than I would like . . . a 5% cancellation rate is better, but I got the flu last year and had to cancel a large bunch at one time. Those things happen. Just keep your cancellation rate as low as possible.

This is my personal running total that Fiverr nicely displays for me. It show me how much money I have earned (or as I like to think of it . . . how much money I immediately spent!).

This world map is at the bottom of your statistics page as well as at the bottom of your public profile page. If you scroll over each of the countries, it tells you exactly how many sales you have made in each country. Most of my sales occur in the United States, Australia, the UK and Europe. The Australians love to buy on Fiverr . . . so I love the Australians!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

QUICK TIP

A note about responsiveness: This refers to how quickly you get back to a personal message on the Fiverr system. Two hours is optimal. Mine is sitting at three hours, and I am trying to get it a bit lower. Buyers like to see that you are available to answer questions at any time.

Section II: Gigs! Gigs! Gigs!

The Fiverr Work Week

Gigs that Pay #1: Naming

Naming is THE go-to gig for me. In fact, I have made a large percentage of my Fiverr income writing names for just about every business and product under the sun. From food trucks to sushi restaurants, telecom corporations to website developers, you name it and I’ve named it.

Naming is fun AND it can bring in a lot of customers. If you get a good reputation you can be banking with this gig for quite some time. I’ve had lots of repeat customers on this gig from buyers like web designers and marketing firms.

My gig title for this one has always been: “I will come up with a memorable business name or slogan for $5.00.” Short and to the point. Also, I put this one in the “Copywriting” sub-category under “Writing and Translation.” There is also a “Branding” category that you could place it in as well, but I have found more success under “Copywriting.”

Here is my gig description:

I’ve been using this description for over a year and it works well. It pays to be fun and easy going in your ad. You can check out my Fiverr profile at www.fiverr.com/adamrockwell where you can see the gigs I am running. Usually I only have one, or if I am busy, none.

I have combined my naming gigs with my tagline/slogan gigs, but these would make the perfect second gigs (one for naming, one for slogans, one for taglines). More on this below.

The Fiverr Work Week

GIG EXTRA IDEAS

-Give FIVE more name ideas: $5.00

-Write a slogan to go along with the business name: $10.00

-Find the perfect .com domain name: $10.00

-Extra Fast: $40.00 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Fiverr Work Week

Gigs that Pay #2: Slogan/Tagline

Many businesses obviously already have a name, but they don’t have a slogan (tagline). I previously ran a separate tagline gig, and it did well.

For my gig description, I tell the buyers that I will provide them with two (2) taglines for $5.00.

Is there a difference between a tagline and a slogan? Yes, but most people think of them as the same thing. A tagline is a short phrase describing a company and will be used for a long period of time. A slogan is more product-related and is considered for short-term use. I’ve found that Americans like the term “Slogan” and everyone else seems to use “Tagline”.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

GIG EXTRA IDEAS

-3 More Taglines for: $10.00

-10 Taglines for an extra: $20.00

-Do a domain name search to match the slogan: $10.00

-Extra Fast: $40.00

The Fiverr Work Week

Gigs that Pay #3:

Writing a 30 Second Script

I love this gig. Not many people run it either. A 30 second script typically runs about 75-100 words, and it takes me about ten minutes (usually) to write.

Make sure that your instructions to the buyer are VERY CLEAR. Get as much information as possible before you write it up. In the gig description, make sure to be clear that you are ONLY writing a script, not a producing a video (unless you have those skills . . . creating videos make great gigs).

Here is the gig description I use:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

GIG EXTRA IDEAS

-Write a 60 Second Script: $10.00

-Write a 90 Second Script: $20.00

-Write a 120 Second Script: $40.00

-Extra Fast: $40.00

The Fiverr Work Week

Gigs that Pay #4:

Write Small Ad Copy

It can be extremely difficult to write a good advertisement for those small textual ads you see on Google, Facebook (and even, possibly, maybe BING). You just have to fit so much action taking words into one little space.

If you are good at writing direct sales copy, this might be the gig for you. You can complete it VERY quickly and the competition is not too high as of this writing.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

GIG EXTRA IDEAS

Give five variations on the ad: $10.00 Give ten variations on the ad: $20.00 Extra Fast: $40.00

The Fiverr Work Week

Gigs that Pay #5: Editing/Proofing

This particular gig idea is good if you are a quick typist and a grammarian. It also dovetails very nicely with many other gig ideas as a cross-sell (fixing the poorly written articles they get from other Fiverr sellers ).

The degree of difficulty of this gig, and therefore ease of completion, is all dependent on how good the writer is submitting documents for you to edit or proof. Often, they are poor writers or English is their second language.

Proofreading is easier than editing . . . but you will have to be the judge of where you stand on this issue. I personally don’t run this particular gig anymore because I spent too much time on it (I am a slow proofreader). Another downside to this gig is that it is competitive.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

GIG EXTRA IDEAS

A good way to charge for extras on this one is “$5.00 for an extra 500 words” or just “$5.00 for each additional 500 words” . . . or whatever you feel comfortable with. I think this is too low, but it is typically what your competition will be charging.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Fiverr Work Week

Gigs that Pay #6:

Write A Powerful Headline!

This is one of my favorite gigs on Fiverr! Writing headlines is FUN and QUICK and EASY! Creating highly converting headlines that draw the reader into the body of the copy is a creative endeavor, but you can also follow some standard formulas that are proven. I won’t get into a whole lesson of writing headlines here, but Copyblogger has a great article on it:

http://www.copyblogger.com/10-sure-fire-headline-formulas-that-work/

A few books that can help newbies get going on headline writing are Bob Bly’s book The Copywriter’s Handbook (whole chapter on the topic), and Dan Kennedy’s the Ultimate Sales Letter. Both of these books are great references for any writer/copywriter, from aspiring writers to seasoned veterans.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

GIG EXTRA IDEAS

-One Extra Headline: $5.00-$10.00

-Five Extra Headlines: $10.00-$20.00

-Extra Fast: $40.00!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Fiverr Work Week

Gigs that Pay #7: Marketing Emails

I love this gig. It is easy to do and offers many possibilities in the way of extras. Here is the description that I use:

In this gig, make sure that you state exactly how many words you are willing to offer per email. Many people who do this gig offer 100 words only. I often go up to 200 words because I get long winded sometimes so it is easy for me to include. These marketing emails are easy to write once you have the material from the buyer. Something to keep in mind is that you might want to have a disclaimer such as “I will not write emails that are adult in nature” etc. If you have a personal preference this is the time to exclude it. I have received many off the wall requests on Fiverr, so putting some thought into where you draw the line is appropriate.

The Fiverr Work Week

GIG EXTRA IDEAS:

-2 additional subject lines for $5.00

-Alternate email to split test with for $10.00

-A full 5 email autoresponder sequence for $40.00

-Extra Fast: 3 Days for $40.00

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

More Great Gig Ideas…

Translation

If you know English + Another Language, you might be able to cash in here. Especially if it’s in a high-demand area (like English to Spanish). You could choose to offer this as a direct from document transcription service, or transcribe an audio/video recording. The competition for this gig varies depending on the language and your expertise. Also, you could consider making an .mp3 voice recording to add as an extra. This gig is typically charged by word count. An example might be $5.00 for 100 words, and then just add extras depending on the amount of words!

Website or Online Sales Letter Critique With Video

If you enjoy talking, this is a great gig to do with minimal investment. The gig is meant to help people improve their website or online sales letter. All you have to do is get a screen capture software such as Screencast-o-matic.com ($15 a year), and a good, inexpensive, USB microphone. If your on-computer microphone doesn’t work well, you’ll have to get one for this gig. I have found several under $20.00 that work well.

Once you have the right equipment and software, head over to the buyer’s website and create a short video telling the buyer what you like and what you think could be improved about their website. More or less what www.userlytics.com does.

For this gig, I like to state that they get a one- or two-minute mini review of their website for $5.00. Remember that for each gig you are required to offer something AT $5.00. So, try to make that the simplest thing to do as possible.

The Fiverr Work Week

Gigs That Suck

***Warning***

None of the following gigs are any good for The Fiverr Work Week! They take too long, will drain all of your energy AND destroy your will to live. BUT, if you need some money really badly . . . REALLY need some money, the following gigs are also (obviously) in high demand. Still, many of them also have a lot of competition. I avoid each of the following gigs like the plague.

Another reason you do not want to write the following gigs is quite simply your reputation. Even if you work under a pen name, if you rush these jobs, the buyers will be mad, ask for refunds and cause you ever increasing amounts of stupid stress.

SEO Article Writing

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. SEO article writing is VERY competitive. Ever since e-How.com more or less shut down, every single writer from Demand Studios is on Fiverr trying to scratch up a few bucks. This is one of their go-to gigs.

If you end up doing this gig, you will have to compete with people willing to write 500-1000 (and more) word articles for $5.00! Plus, you usually end up writing an article about getting rid of a wart on your nose or something weird.

Just don’t do it. It is not fun and it is not worth the five bucks.

Press Release Writing

I started off my Fiverr selling a few years ago with press releases. I won’t ever do it again! Press releases are difficult to write and must be formatted perfectly. Sure, there’s a template in Microsoft Word . . . but professional press release writers get upwards of $500 or more to write a good, send it to the real newspaper release.

For a while, free and paid press release submission sites were all the rage in the Search Engine Optimization community. Google doesn’t rank places like PRWeb.com as highly anymore, so the demand is not as great as it was a few years ago . . . PLUS, the competition to write a 400 word, $5.00 press release is big on Fiverr. Once again, just say no!

Writing Sales Pages

Online and off-line sales letters have become a popular gig on Fiverr, and I cannot believe it. The sales page gigs being offered on Fiverr are charging way too little! Good copywriters can often charge much more than$1,000.00 for a good sales letter. Don’t do this type of direct sales letter on Fiverr. Seriously... don’t.

The Fiverr Work Week

Even if you have one of those nifty fill-in-the-blanks sales page software packages that are floating around out there . . . it will still take a ton of work, figuring out features, benefits, the best headlines, etc.

Writing Resumes

Writing resumes is an incredibly in-depth process that can take hours for a professional resume writer to complete. Plus, resume writers often get paid way more than $500.00 for a professional resume.

There are LOTS of people that write resumes on Fiverr, which is actually surprising. Perhaps a gig such as “I Will Proof Your Resume” would work, but even that is difficult. This one is a no-brainer. Just don’t write resumes on Fiverr. Come up with an alternative such as proofing.

Writing ANY Website Content and Blog Writing

There is a good reason you shouldn’t write website content including blog posts. The amount of research that needs to be done will kill any profit. Even just reading the material they will send you will have to be pieced together to create a cogent web-piece.

Also, similarly to Sales Letter Writing, website content takes an in-depth knowledge of the product or service being offered. Plus, it is a hybrid of content AND direct sales writing. This stuff can get tricky, especially when they tell you that they don’t even know what their website is going to look like.

You might think that it’s easy to write the actual web copy, but remember that your time is valuable, and this could take a lot of time. Same goes for blogs.

If you are serious about making money with creative writing gigs on Fiverr, then you need to do it quickly and easily while producing a great end-product.

For all of the “Gigs that SUCK,” the main issue with them is the fact that anybody with any talent is getting EXTREMELY underpaid no matter how many gig extras they are able to add. Set up your own website and sell your services if you are interested in writing resumes, content, or anything else for that matter.
