States Linking and Using CTE Data in their SLDS Systems

- About half of the States can currently link CTE and Adult Education data to K12 systems

- About one-fifth are providing feedback reports to CTE (from Workforce)

- About one-fifth are providing feedback reports to K12 from CTE and Adult Education

Workforce and Postsecondary Data Linkages

- 39 States currently link postsecondary data to K12 data - 23 States can link postsecondary workforce and K12 data - 9 States funded in the FY15 SLDS Grant Round to establish and

support College and Career data uses - American Samoa Hawaii Kentucky Massachusetts Minnesota North

Dakota Tennessee Utah and Washington

Examples of Data Use

ndash Mississippi has made it easier for students to identify where the jobs are what degrees and certificates are needed for those jobs and what postsecondary institutions prepare student with those degrees and certificates

ndash Washington is providing feedback reports to high schools so they can see what happened to their alumni whether students went to college where they went and how they persisted once there

ndash Kentucky is exploring the existence of regional within-state labor markets and what they might mean for college and career training programs

Planned Data Uses

bull Massachusetts plans to expand its Early Warning Indicator System to predict readiness for postsecondary education

bull Minnesota will build an interactive report on its State analytics website to enable users to explore nontraditional paths through the education pipeline

bull North Dakota will develop a crosswalk of the degree programs offered through the ND University System

Technical Assistance Opportunities

bull State Support Team expert help bull Annual Best Practices Conference

meetings jointly attended by SLDS teams and Workforce Data Quality Initiative (WDQI) grantees
