The Feast of Epiphany is preceded in importance

by only three other feasts during the liturgical year. (As

a good exercise, see if you can name the three feasts in

order of their liturgical importance). The connection

between Epiphany and Christmas is not only in the fact

that it is twelve days after the celebration of the birth of

Christ, but that it also commemorates the visitation of

the three wise men to the infant Jesus in Bethlehem.

The three wise men were certainly acting with

their whole hearts when they traveled great distances to

find and worship a baby born in a manger. When was

the last time you did something with your whole heart?

Fr. Ed asks that, before next Sunday, you would

take a sneak preview of Chapter 12 in the book he gave

everyone for Christmas. Who will that saint be? What

could I learn from that saint? What could I learn about

using my whole heart?

A Parish Christmas Present

The Matt Kelly book, “Rediscovering the Saints,” is a

gift to you this Christmas. If you did not pick up a copy,

make certain to do so this weekend.

“Thank You” for being Saints Peter and Paul

Parish. For various weeks of the coming year we hope

to feature reading various chapters, and offering reflec-

tion questions concerning the chapter and our individual

and collective lives. Enjoy the book, you deserve it!

*Read Chapter 12 before next Sunday

Feast of the Epiphany

This weekend, as we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany

and the manifestation of God’s presence to the entire

world, let us also keep in our prayers the Epiphany

Parish in Sayre as they celebrate their feast day.

Christmas Flowers

We are grateful for an additional donation for

Christmas flowers from Lani Wood.

Our Church, Our Parish

Numerous parishioners and visitors have comment-

ed on how beautiful our church has been for

Christmas. Our thanks and appreciation are extend-

ed to those who assisted in making this come true:

everyone who decorated, cleaned, participated in

the multiple liturgies by ushering, singing, playing,

serving, reading, re-arranging, setting up, and

(future) taking down, is to be thanked for making

certain our parish welcomed and enjoyed Christ-

mas.

Volunteers will be needed to help take down

the decorations next weekend after 11 am Mass.

Christmas! ‘Tis the Season . . . Still !

Even though we may see some Christmas trees dis-

carded at the curbside already, we Christians will

continue to celebrate this Season of Light in a

special way, in our liturgies and lives, throughout

the Christmas Season, until the Feast of the Bap-

tism of the Lord next Sunday, January 12, which

will end the Season officially. Enjoy celebrating

the coming of Emmanuel (God is with us) for as

long as we can, or at least until next Sunday.
