    Brother Knights,

Fellow Knights, my narrative for Council activities for the month of April will be brief. We held our 1st ever Business Meeting via phone conference on April 8th, with approximately 20 members. Beautification and parking lot maintenance efforts continued; thanks to Don Sheetz for salvaging and painting parking bumpers, with a net 35 additional parking spaces reclaimed. On Wednesday, the 29th, Dan Ciferri and Walter Adley organized a weeding and mulching effort for our entrance plant beds. It looks great! A shout out goes to Dave Merklin, Don Sheetz, Bill and Mimi Caffery and Stacie Johnson. Stacie has been offering hot to go meals for take out on Wednesdays and Fridays, great menu and generous portions.

Supreme held its 1st online Exemplification on April 16th, with approximately 10,000 participants, including 2,200 new Knights, congratulations Greg Hamalka and David Kennedy. There will be more Supreme online Exemplifications, but several of our members and new candidates will be waiting for the in-person ceremonies to come once we move away from social distancing in isolating this deadly virus. If anyone is interested in the online Exemplification, please call or email Jonathon Knaus or me.

Again, It is with great sadness and concern for the well-being of our membership and our many supporters that we cancel the month of May’s activities We pray that this scourge will end sooner than later, but in the meantime, with our vulnerable population, being safe and apart is our immediate plan.

We will be (safely) painting the floors of both our storage room and outside grill area this coming Wednesday, 6th, volunteers needed.

On Wednesday, May 13th we will conduct our 2nd Business Meeting by conference call, agenda and dialing information will be sent by Floknote.

We will be in celebrating our Council’s 50 Anniversary. And looking forward to a great year, because as Catholics we will survive and prosper through our Faith and Good Works.

    Vivant Jesus!

    MAY 2020 Dear Sisters,

It is good to talk to you even if it is in this fashion. While literally nothing was scheduled or happened on the 6241 property, that doesn’t mean that the spirit of our auxiliary or its work has stopped as has so much of our lives. Supreme and State and Chapter has kept in touch, but they too can only plan so much as can we. As of this writing we do not have permission from anyone to have a May meeting. At this point the slate of officers remains the same and installation may require some special considerations, but honestly, I don’t know. The distribution of funds may be delayed but they are supposed to be distributed by the end of June. So, what can we do right now? A couple of things come to mind. We all have been offered the membership list and we can also send it out by email, may I suggest that each day you choose three to five names and call or email them. Women whom you don’t usually contact and do a wellness check. A verbal smile if you will. Second, put together food or goods for the homeless , shut in, food bank, and keep track of what you do, not for the glory but for the MM award, sounds contradictory, but not really you don’t have to give your name but we will use this opportunity to expand our charitable entries, Third, Prayer, novenas, Rosaries the need is endless… Ladies I try see your faces in my prayers, you are special, you are loved… Jesus Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed!!!!! Love Joanne

Report form the Columbian Club of Martin County: We are in trying times with the Coronavirus spreading through the US and restricting our movements and ability to gather. The Columbian Club has reduced activity. Our Club Manager Dan Ciferri is working flexible hours. He can be reached by calling the Club number 772-286-7507 at any time. He has a cell phone that he carries with him. Gordon Foods installed the dishwasher we announced last month. This will cost us $81 per month. All maintenance for the machine will be the responsibility of Gordon Foods. On Wednesday, April 29th, Dan Ciferri organized a weeding and mulching effort for our entrance plant beds. It looks great! A big Thank You to Walter Adley, Dave Merklin, Don Sheetz, Bill and Mimi Caffery for their efforts. Dan also supplied a wonderful lunch for all. And we installed a new flag over our beautiful council building. Rental of the banquet rooms is our bread and butter. Please if you know of any possible rentals let our Club Manager know. We pay a 10% commission to successful solicitors.

    Mary’s Home Update

This past month, it has been amazing to watch the moms and Resident Advisors complying with the stay-at-home order and see their relationships growing and strengthening in the midst of this national pandemic. I am happy to report there is peace in the home and although these are trying times, everyone is doing well. Currently, we have 5 moms and 4 babies residing with us. Three moms and 5 children in our Women in Transition program. On Jan. 2, 2020, we welcomed our new Executive Director, Donna Gardner. We created a new position, Volunteer Program and Event Coordinator, which was filled by Alean Timm. Ellie Kolar is our new Marketing and Outreach Director, and Jennifer Cosolito will be joining us as our Residential Program Director. With the additional staff, we are strengthening our program and ensuring its vitality. Our social media outreach includes the creation of several new accounts. You can follow us on Instagram - @maryhometc; Facebook - Mary’s Home and Twitter - @Mary’sHomeTC. Choose our mission while shopping on Amazon, which gives a portion of your purchase to us or check out our wish list on Amazon Smile. In addition, if you’d like to be on our email list, please contact [email protected]. Please consider a donation of any size to Mary’s Home to help keep secure the lives of our moms and babies during this unprecedented time. Mary’s Home 1033 SE 14th Street Stuart, FL 34996

    New Members

If you know someone who is interested in becoming a member of the Knights of Columbus, have them complete a Form 100 or contact our Membership Director, Dave Olio (772) 919-2555.

Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to males 18 years of age or older who are practical (that is, practicing) Catholics.

    What is a practical Catholic?

A practical Catholic accepts the teaching authority of the Catholic Church on matters of faith and morals, aspires to live in accord with the precepts of the Catholic Church, and is in good standing in the Catholic Church.

    DAILY PRAYER TO END ABORTION

Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life, and for the lives of all my brothers and sisters. I know there is nothing that

destroys more life than abortion, yet I rejoice that you have conquered death, by the Resurrection of Your Son. I am ready to

do my part in ending abortion. Today I commit myself never to be silent, never to be passive, and never to be forgetful of the

unborn. I commit myself to be active in the Treasure Coast pro-life movement, and never to stop defending life until all my brothers and sisters are protected, and our nation once again becomes a

nation with liberty and justice not just for some, but for all.

    Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
