In Memory of Phillip RosenfieldROMAC Motor and Control

Phillip “Phil” Rosenfield passed away at 90 on Thursday evening, June 26, 2014

Phil was the founder of ROMAC(ROsenfield MAChinery) SupplyCompany. With Phil at its helm, ROMACwas one of the early electrical equipmentrecyclers; returning out of service equip-ment back to safe condition for reuse.

Most do not know that Phil also foundedor helped found Power Controls, Inc, MGM Transformer, ROMAC Motor and Control-Phoenix, Armistead Companies, LimitedRosewood ProductsKey-Don Scissor-liftsSanta Fe HydraulicsPER Partners ……and several other businesses

Additionally, Phil assisted and influenced many others getting into their ownbusinesses. Many of these as well as many of his own businesses are still pro-ducing today.

Phil’s namesake company, ROMAC is doing well, with a third generationbeginning to take hold of this 1958 company.

Phil stood for integrity, fairness and loyalty. He expected it and he practicedit. He was regarded by all as a very, very good man and a pioneer in thereconditioned electrical business.

The NECA show is one of the largest electricaltrade conventions and is very well attended. it will befun to see and visit with many of our customers, adver-tisers and readers. As many of you know the 3 dayexpo begins on Sunday and at noon that day theChicago Bears play the Green Bay Packers at SoldierField which is less than a mile from McCormick. As alife long Packer fan this should make the weekend a lit-tle more exciting. if you take the time to attend theshow i am sure you will find it beneficial. The EABooth is #1932. if you get to the show please stop by.

On October 22-25, the iEC is sponsoring its 57thAnnual Convention in Baltimore, Md. This nationalcontractors organization has grown over the last fewyears and the attendance both at the conference andtrade show have reflected this. A few years ago iECwent to a multi-day trade show which has added to theshows success.

CBS ArcSafe®, a leading manufacturer of remote racking and switching solutions for low- and medium-voltageswitchgear, introduces its remote switch actuator for the ABB/Sace Tmax T7M low-voltage molded case circuit break-ers with current ratings of 1000A and 1200A. The new CBS ArcSafe® RSA-174E actuators are designed for TmaxT7M breakers equipped with optional stored-energy mechanisms (SEMs) and allow technicians to safely close and/ortrip breakers outside of the arc-flash hazard boundary without any modification to the breaker. In many installations, theTmax T7M circuit breakers are recessed into a cabinet, and the new remote switch actua-tors are designed to mount directly on to the breaker inside these cabinets.

When accompanied by a CBS ArcSafe® remote switch operator (RSO) control unit, theRSA-174E reduces the need for arc-flash suits and eliminates all hazardous manual con-tact with gear during operation by providing open and close operation from up to 300 feetaway. The actuator is lightweight, portable, and simple to install and set up, providingtechnicians with a quick solution for hard-to-access breaker locations. The RSA-174Erequires no modifications for switchgear mounting, and operators can easily move theactuator from one breaker to another.

Optional features for the RSA-174E include a radio remote with a range of up to 300 feet,a wired or wireless video camera system with LCD monitor for remote viewing, and acustom-fit rugged storage case. When combined, these features make the RSA-174E easyto install and remove, allowing technicians to quickly and safely set up and operate differ-ent sets of the same electrical equipment.
