Ways to Get 2016 off to a Great Start . . .

Join us for an evening communion service on January 3 at 6pm as we commit the

coming year to the Lord! What better way to usher in the new year than to reflect

upon what Jesus came to do for us! (As a reminder, all communion crackers are

gluten-free!)

As we multiply disciples, it is our heart to teach Jesus' financial principles and help

each other put them into practice. Whether you are in a huge financial hole, doing

okay or pretty financially healthy, Financial Peace University (FPU) will get you on

track and help you go where God wants you to go with money. FPU is a proven,

9-week course which helps the typical family to an $8,000 turnaround (paying off

$5,300 in debt and putting $2,700 into savings) in the first 90 days. Nationally

recognized financial expert Dave Ramsey will inspire you, using humor, passion

and Bible principles to help you to a new financial life. Classes will cover topics

from "Dumping Debt" to "Super Saving" and everything in between.

The 9-week course will begin Tuesday, January 19 at 6:30pm and will be led by

Pastor Jon and Nikki MacDonald. Childcare will be provided by screened,

experienced and loving church members (but it is really important for you to let us

know how many and the ages of the children that will require childcare). Each

couple must acquire an "FPU Membership" which can be purchased at

DaveRamsey.com for about $100. Contact Pastor Jon MacDonald (class

coordinator) at [email protected] if you have any questions about the

class.

In closing, we are aiming at FUN in this class! You will not have to publicly reveal

your financial circumstances. All of us need help! And this class will offer help for

people who want to grow or heal in the area of their finances. It is fun to grow. And

it hurts. So come join us for a 9-week class that will absolutely change your life!

Not everyone who wants to come to church can make it . . . But the church can go

to them! Come and "bring the church" to various nursing homes on Sunday, Jan-

uary 24. Meet at church at 2pm for a brief training/overview and prayer. At 3pm,

we’ll head over to our locations in caravans — plan to drive your own vehicle.

Once there, we'll fan out throughout our sites and invite people to come sing and

hear a brief devotional, and socialize. What a great activity for the whole family!

Happy Birthday/Anniversary in January

Forever Young

Extra! Extra! Get the inside scoop on Pastor Aaron Brown and his wife Kirsten, at the Thursday, Jan-

uary 21 Forever Young potluck. They’ll be sharing personal anecdotes and testimonies as we get to

know them more deeply. Dave and Lyn Neave will again be providing inspirational songs to lift our

hearts to the Lord. Sign up on the bulletin board in the Welcome Center or in your 55+ ABF to bring

your favorite casserole, salad or dessert. Bring a friend!

Winter Weather Procedures

Even though this winter is predicted to be the mildest

on record, church leadership has reviewed and put into

practice its Winter Weather

Procedures – when to plow/

haul snow, how frequently to

blow and salt, when to cancel

activities and how to notify the

congregation and community

of schedule changes.

Decisions about Sunday morning services will be made

at 6am, while decisions about Sunday/Wednesday

evening activities will be made by 3:30pm. All schedule

changes due to weather will be given to the following

media as soon as the decision is made: WHBL 1330

AM radio/website, WTMJ Ch. 4 TV and 620TMJ radio/

website, and WSTM 91.3 FM radio.

Changes will be posted on the church website, www.e-

free-family.com, and placed on the church answering

machine. The staff will also call their respective

ministry leaders, who will in turn notify their volunteers,

regarding any pertinent Sunday/Wednesday changes.

In light of Dr. Hylander's recently-shared vision for Full

Spectrum Discipleship and the practical way it's carried

out through our congregation, leadership will begin

budgeting this month with a view toward meeting that

on-going goal.

The Elder and Deacon Boards, as well as program staff

and ministry leaders, will review how our programs,

facility and finances can best facilitate moving people

further along on the discipleship line toward increasing

maturity in Christ. Please be in prayer for our leaders

through this process.

Last month, Pastor Jon MacDonald spoke on 1 Chronicles 29:6-20, noting that 15% of Jesus' recorded words deal with

money and possessions; more than 2,300 verses in the Bible address those topics. "God loves to talk about money, and

we should, too."

Pastor Jon reminded us that, when we are honoring God with our money, we have numerous opportunities to share in

God's kingdom work. How do we honor Him? By tithing, and by gladly giving generous free-will gifts! How can we tithe

and give generously? By freeing ourselves from debt.

Being debt-free – yes, we can! – means we can make a difference for the kingdom. It means we will have money to give

to ministry, ministry that flows from our leadership vision of "multiplying committed followers of Jesus Christ." In some

cases, ministry may be stifled due to physical building constraints. "There's not enough space" is a frequently-heard cry

of frustration, especially when it comes to meeting space or storage. In other cases, ministries are either unfunded (i.e.

a part-time parish nurse, part-time internet technology staffer) or under-funded (i.e. BabyCare, facility needs).

A big “thank you” to all who helped make the

Ladies Christmas Brunch possible!

And thanks to Lora Lynds for a wonderful message!

Men’s Canada Fishing Trip

Enjoy a wonderful week of fishing in Ontario, Canada

May 20-27. The week includes all-you-can-eat fish,

great fellowship, times for

spiritual growth, and great

fishing! The cost of the trip is

only $705, which includes all

meals with the exception of

travel days.

For more information, check out the Lake Lundgren

Bible Camp website (www.llbc.org) or call Bill Horsch.

2016 Offering Envelopes

Boxes of 2016 offering envelopes will be available in

the church library through mid-January. As of January

1, please DO NOT USE any leftover 2015 envelopes,

as many of the family account numbers are being

changed. We would not want to designate anyone’s

giving to the wrong account!

If you have not used offering envelopes in the past but

would like to start, just contact the church office

(452.6520 or [email protected]).
