Message from the Headmaster
Dear Parents and Community Members As you are aware the Ambassador of the United States of America visited the College. HE Kmiec wrote to me saying: “It was a genuine delight to meet you and witness first hand the intellectual gifts so abundant among the students of St Edward’s.”

Functions at College
I am very pleased to advise you that the Archbishop’s Curia has granted permission to St Ed-ward’s to use the College Chapel for marriage ceremonies. We are, therefore, offering the follow-ing for weddings and other civil functions:
The Chapel Nominal fee of €250
The Chapel + Front Garden for reception for 100 people or less + Parking behind the Chapel €500 (plus VAT)
The Chapel + Front Garden for reception for over 100 people + Parking behind the Chapel €1500 (plus VAT)

Summer Uniform Changeover – Monday 9 May Years 6-9 MUST wear a brown belt. Dark brown, leather shiny shoes are compulsory. Boots, suede or canvas shoes are not acceptable.
Casual Clothes Day – Tuesday 5 April As you are aware, we have one casual clothes day per term. If your child wishes to participate, it will cost €2. Thank you.
Year 11 and Year 13. Classes will be held as usual in the final week. I understand that some students may wish to opt to study at home. If these arrangements suit both the individual student and parents, I have no objection. However, parents, please be advised that all classes are continuing with teachers revising past papers.
Year 8 Subject Choice Evening This very important evening for parents and Year 8 students will be held on Wednesday 13 April at 7pm in the Hall.

World Book Day - 4 May 2011
Secondary Schools Competition The Schools Library Service organised a competition for all secondary school students who will be under 16 years of age on the 23rd April 2011. This competition was open to all students attending Government, Church and Independent Schools. Andrew T of Year 7y has been awarded 3rd prize in this competition which consisted in solving a Cross-word Puzzle with all clues relating to the reading of books. Andrew has won €35 worth of books of his choice. The prize winning ceremony will be held on Wednesday 4 May at the SLS premises in St Julians Well done, Andrew

Cancelled visit to College by author Tommy Donbavand
Below please find Tommy Donbavand's email sent to the College Hi all I'm SO SORRY that I'm having to pull out of my tour of Malta at such short notice! I was REALLY looking forward to meeting you all. As I'm sure you all know by now, I've developed a problem at the back of my right eye, which will need surgery to fix. The eye specialist has told me that I am not allowed to fly until my eye is better as the air pressure of an aeroplane cabin could make the problem worse and cause me to lose more of my sight. Now, I'm as keen as the rest of you to have one of my eyeballs explode out of my face at 35,000 feet - it would make a GREAT book cover - but I do need both my eyes in order to write more spooky adventures in the future. If I can, I'll try to connect with your schools via my webcam very soon. I know it's not the same as hav-ing me there, but we should have a lot of fun. Best wishes - and sorry again! Tommy

The Connecting Classrooms project, organised by the British Council, has been ‘connecting’ people together sinccommunicate with other students alike. Through this project, students can have the ability to overcome undesirablbuild new bridges between each other. Over a hundred student from nine schools were present in the March 2011 Bajda, on the 12th and the 26th of March. Students from government schools, church schools and private schools The two seminars were both held on Saturday mornings, and beside all the students participating in the project, tha wonderful presentation of all the students in the school courtyard throwing colourful streamers across a wide cirout both seminars which included making a map of the participating schools and the community that surrounds it,prevent a small egg, which would be thrown of the school’s roof, from breaking.
