THE EDWARDIAN GAZETTE

Dear Parents and Community Members

Gazette Final

This is my last Gazette. I suppose that I have prepared approximately 140 editions over the past 4 years. Technology allows us to track the number of readers each week and this figure has grown to be thou-sands. I would like to thank all people who gave me so much support over the past 4 years. These years have been a learning journey for all involved, leaving me with many happy memories. We are an exceptionally strong College with very robust numbers in the foundation years which augurs well for the future. With your help and commitment, we have built a fine reputation both on the island and in an international context. It is interesting to note that the last ten enrolment enquiries I have taken, 9 of them were from abroad. This is a very good trend as the College strives to become more internation-ally minded. Teaching and learning are always at the heart of any great College. In this context, the teachers have just completed Departmental Plans to develop aspects of both teaching and learning. It is important that these plans are underpinned by the IB Learner Profile as the curriculum here in Malta places far too much em-phasis on regurgitation and learning facts. The Learner Profile encourages independent learning, open-mindedness and higher level cognitive skills without ‘throwing the baby out with the bath water.’ The new Headmaster will further develop these plans. Booklists, Calendar, Fees Schedule, Uniform and Transport information will be listed on the website some time in July. In closing, I wish the new Headmaster, Mr Bowery, every success. Importantly, I wish you every success and well-being.

Best wishes

Michael Chittenden

Headmaster

THE EDWARDIAN GAZETTE

Dear All Here we are with the last Issue of ‘The Edwardian Gazette’, not counting the Bumper Edition which will round up Volume 1 of this new revised series; this will be published soon and will consist mostly of a gallery of photographs taken throughout the year. I hope that you have enjoyed reading the Gazettes as much as I have enjoyed editing them together with HM. I am gladly looking forward to prepare Volume 2 as from next September. Judging from the Students’ and Parents’ response and also by periodically issued statistics, we know we have thousands of followers every week. We are slowly but surely achieving our goal, the mission of putting the College in the position it de-serves. By globally showcasing our assets, which are primarily our student and teaching body, we are constantly creating opportunities for potential students and boarders. The Gazette is placing us in the midst of global social networks that will eventually enable us to create substantial revenue. Our sincere gratitude goes to all those who in any way contributed to our Gazette, your help and support are very much appreciated. Thank you for helping us achieve the success we hold today. Farewells are due, first and foremost to our dear Headmaster Mr Michael Chittenden, to whom we wish best of luck and happiness for the future. On behalf of everyone who forms part of the College Commu-nity, I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all his successful contributions to our College and I know that he will be dearly missed. A great farewell goes to all our Yr 13 Students; we wish them all the best that life has to offer and many blessings for the future. Last but not least best wishes go to our Yr 11 Students, while we are looking forward to welcome those who are interested in joining us for IB Diploma Programme, we will always treasure the memories of the rest who will continue with their lives elsewhere. Remember: “Once an Edwardian Always an Edwardian, Wherever you are and whoever you become, you are and will always be Edwardians, So be proud and make us proud!!”
