Earlscliffe is delighted to present this innovative and unique programme to the UK summer schools market.

Our experienced academic staff deliver a two or three week course introducing the essentials of business management to 15-17yr olds.

This residential summer school programme is for UK and international teenagers looking for an inspirational and ambitious summer course which gives them the perfect introduction to the exciting and productive world of business management and administration. At least an intermediate level of English is required for international students.

Who should do this course?Committed international students looking for a very different kind of summer programme, who want to boost their CVs and university applications by completing this rigorous and challenging two or three week session. Also, for students considering studying business, finance, management, economics or accounting at A level, IB or undergraduate level, this course provides an intensive and comprehensive introduction.

When does it take place?Mini-MBA course 1: 2 weeks 28 June - 10 July 2015Mini-MBA course 2: 3 weeks 11 July - 31 July 2015Mini-MBA course 3: 2 weeks 01 August - 14 August 2015

Where does it take place?All international students stay in en-suite rooms in the college premises of Earlscliffe, an independent college in the town of Folkestone, less than an hour from central London by train.

How big are the classes?The maximum class size is 12.

How much teaching is there?There are 23 hours of teaching per week except on the Extended Mini-MBA where the class will also visit businesses or production plants.

How do you get accepted on the course?Complete the Earlscliffe Summer 2015 Booking Form and tick the relevant Earlscliffe Mini-MBA course box. Students will need to complete a pre-course test prior to acceptance. We will then send you some preparation work to complete and return to us before starting your course.

What other activities does the course offer?A full sports, cultural activities and excursion programme is offered, including two special London trips exclusive to our Mini-MBA students to the Bank of England and to the top of The Shard, Europe’s tallest building.

Unit 1: Introduction to ManagementThis unit forms the core of the course and provides students with the skills, vocabulary, knowledge, confidence and technique to analyse business texts and reports from newspapers, debate global business issues, prepare projects, research company case studies and give presentations.Unit 2: AccountingThis unit aims to provide an introduction to basic accounting knowledge for the financial statement analysis.Unit 3: EntrepreneurshipThis unit will include the concept of entrepreneurship and finding opportunities.Unit 4: OrganisationsWe will look at the tradition of organisational development and how this has affected modern day leadership and management in business organisations.Unit 5: MarketingThis unit will involve a mixture of lectures, discussions and short case studies for analysis in class to give you an insight into some of the issues and tools in marketing for the 21st century.Unit 6: Business at Work (including visits)This unit is only offered on the 3 week course and gives students an opportunity to visit different types of operational businesses for a better understanding of a day-to-day production and management.

SportsStudents play badminton, basketball, billiards and table tennis on-site at Earlscliffe in the summer and within walking distance we have football, tag rugby, cricket, other field games, swimming, tennis, squash, a fitness gym and dry slope tobogganing. These sports are offered from mid-afternoon, after the day’s lessons have finished.

MealsMeals are taken in the college dining room and prepared by our own chef and team. Meals are varied and often international, such as Chinese, Mexican or Indian, but not forgetting occasional British fish and chips!We have a formal dinner once every two weeks. Bring something special to wear!

AccommodationA large investment saw a complete renovation and refurbishment of Earlscliffe in 2012-14. Most rooms are spacious twin or triple rooms with private WC and bathroom. All rooms are Wi-Fi connected.

Day tripsEarlscliffe students visit various London attractions each Wednesday such as the London Eye, Chelsea FC & Buckingham Palace and our Mini-MBA students also visit The Shard and the Bank of England. Sunday trips include visits to Thorpe theme park, Canterbury, Leeds Castle and Hever Castle.
