2013 DAAG REPORT Our Dominion Animal Advocates Group (DAAG) had a busy

and productive 2013.Domestic Pets. DAAG was called to assist Dominion Security

with 42 lost pets in 2013. Of these calls, 35 involved dogs whose owners could not be readily located through a name tag.* Of the 35 dogs, 32 were eventually reunited with their owners within the Dominion; 1 was returned to an owner outside the Dominion, and 2 were unclaimed. Of 7 cats, 3 were returned to their homes, and 4 were accepted by DAAG.

DAAG volunteers trapped 52 roaming and feral cats and kittens during 2013, and placed 18 for adoption. The remaining were returned to their home areas for continuing care by homeowners.

DAAG continues to assist with the neutering and vaccination of feral and roaming cats within the Dominion and in adjacent areas to decrease the overall population and to ensure that the remaining cats are vaccinated and healthy. A tipped left ear indicates that a cat has been neutered and vaccinated.

Wildlife. DAAG was called to assist Security with 28 instances involving wildlife. The responses ranged from providing living-with-wildlife information to assisting in the transfer of injured or ill wildlife to Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation in Kendalia, Texas.

DAAG continues to develop resources to aid with wildlife issues. This is an ongoing effort as more wildlife is encountered and displaced by the development in our community and surrounding areas.

* The fastest way to ensure your pet is returned to you is to place a name tag with current identification information on a collar. ONLY breakaway collars are recommended for cats. Since pets can lose a collar while roaming, microchipping of both dogs and cats is recommended as backup.

LET YOUR HOME LIGHTS SHINE!As shorter days and longer hours of darkness approach, exterior

lighting becomes more important to Dominion residents. Dominion security has notified the HOA that many homes have minimal lighting. The biggest reason for this is that the light bulbs need replacing. Often times, low watt bulbs are adequate to light your walkways and surrounding areas at a very low cost. Remember, replacing your burnt out bulbs will offer residents a deterrent for unwanted visitors, help avoid falls and injury of your guests, facilitates identification of your home for emergency vehicles, and enhances the overall beauty of your home. Check your bulbs and let your home lights shine!

SAN ANTONIO SEEING A RISING TIDE OF LUXURYHOME SALES

Higher-priced home sales are playing a bigger role in the Texas housing market, according to a recent report by the Texas Association of Realtors (TAR).

Even San Antonio is seeing an increase in sales of luxury housing.Over the first nine months of 2013, a total of 86 luxury homes

were sold in the greater San Antonio area, according to TAR's 2014 edition of the Texas Luxury Home Sales Report. Those 86 sales represent an 18 percent increase from the number of luxury homes sold between January and October of 2012.

The TAR report tracks sales of all homes priced at $1 million and higher.

At the end of October 2013, there were 259 luxury homes up for sale in San Antonio - which equates to three percent of the active listings in the local housing market.Data from the Texas Luxury Home Sales Report shows that million-dollar homes are playing an increasingly important role in the Texas housing market," TAR Chairman Dan Hatfield says. "The housing slump is behind us. And, as Texas' economy and population continue to accelerate, we're going to see increasing development and demand in larger, higher-priced homes with luxury amenities."The luxury market may be growing in the Alamo City, but it still remains one of the most affordable housing markets in the Lone Star State.

As of November 2013, the average price of a home in San Antonio

was $214,677, according to the latest report by the San Antonio Board of Realtors (SABOR). Looking at market share by price, homes priced at $199,000 and below currently makes up 61.14 percent of the local housing market, SABOR states.

DOMINION SPEED LIMITSSpeed limits on inside streets within The Dominion are 20

mph unless otherwise noted. Please be reminded to decrease your speed when exiting Dominion Drive onto streets passing through Dominion neighborhoods.

IH-10 CONSTRUCTION Be on the lookout for construction to begin along IH-10 in early

February from Ralph Fair Road to Dominion Drive, with the first phase being projected to take place along Ralph Fair Road to Boerne Stage Road.

TRANSPONDER RENEWALSAll residents receiving transponder renewal invoices are required

to fill out the "New" Transponder Renewal form that is included. Please make sure that you take the time to update your information on this form.

If this form is not completed and returned to the Dominion HOA office, your renewal will not be processed.

HOUSE CHECK SERVICEEffective as of November 1, 2013, residents who request the House

Check Service will receive a fee of $10 per day billed to their account. Please note that previous accounts registered to the old House Check Service WILL NOT renew automatically.

In order to begin receiving this service, please come by the HOA office to complete the form.

SAFETY TIPS - PEDESTRIANS AND SCHOOL BUSESMore than a million children and teens depend on buses to get

them safely to and from the more than 9,000 Texas schools every day. They also depend on motorists to know the law and drive safely around school buses. For more information contact Traffic Safety at 512-416-3175.

Here's the Law• Stop for flashing red lights on a school bus, regardless of which

WATER CONSERVATION AUDITWinter temperatures, we have, winter rains, where are you!?!During 2013, much like 2012, our average rainfall hovered around

32 inches District-wide. Unfortunately, most of this was received during sporadic weather events throughout the year. Case in point, we received ten inches of rain over Memorial Day weekend. While every drop is welcome, high rainfall within such a short timeframe results in much of that rain running off into our streams and rivers providing little to recharge our aquifers. Please bear this in mind as winter winds down and you begin spring planting and yard care.

Trinity Glen Rose Groundwater Conservation District (TGRGCD) would like to ask for your continued help in reducing demand on groundwater resources. We offer a free on-site consultation to identify problems areas that could be resulting in higher water usage to home or business owners residing within our District. Following the visit, we offer recommendations to help reduce water usage both inside and outside the home and a “goody” bag full of conservation-related items, including a hose timer, moisture meter, and low-flow showerhead.

Pregnancy Center Announces Expanded Hours

(830) 249-9717The Hill Country Pregnancy Care Center has expanded its

hours of operation. They now offer their free services Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-8pm, Wednesdays from 10-4pm and Fridays from 10-1pm. Thursday evenings and Fridays are new hours.

The HCPCC continues to offer free and confidential pregnancy tests, limited obstetric ultrasounds, STD testing, prenatal and parenting classes, material assistance and Bible studies.

They have also partnered with the Boerne YMCA to offer child birth classes. Attendees will receive free prenatal vitamins and free YMCA membership for 3 months. This will allow for free childcare and for the prenatal and postnatal exercise classes for mom.

The HCPCC has 3 nurses on staff and a host of volunteers and non-medical staff who provide information and support to families and individuals around issues of sexuality and pregnancy. All client contacts are confidential.
