Performed by Noelle Brown and Bríd Ní Neachtain

Following 6 sell out performances as part of Dublin Fringe 2013

and nominated for 2 awards. POSTSCRIPT comes to The Dock

for one night only. Written by Noelle Brown and Michéle Forbes,

POSTSCRIPT is honest, provocative and extremely moving.

Based on a true story of an adopted person’s search for identity,

POSTSCRIPT is both poignant and humourous. ‘From a very early

age I was told I was adopted. In fairness I think my parents had no choice

but to tell me, what with me being redheaded with pale skin in a family

with dark skin and dark hair – this made it pretty obvious that something

wasn’t right. While I loved being able to say I was adopted when I was a

child (because it made me feel exotic), I also learned that it was a word

that was used by adults with a dropped voice.  ‘Bad blood will out’ was

a phrase that was often thrown around in conversation in relation to

adopted children in 70’s Ireland.’

Followed by post show Q&A. Duration: 1 hour.

GOiTsE & annaGHIrish Music with a Twist

Goitse, a quintet of very talented young musicians are making a

name for themselves as one of the most sought after bands amongst

connoisseurs of Irish Traditional music, having won feverish critical

plaudits for their Dónal Lunny-produced second album Transformed.

Featuring Colm Phelan (bodhrán), James Harvey (banjo), Aine

McGeeney (vocals/fiddle), Tadhg O Meachair (piano accordion) and

Conal O Kane (guitar), Goitse’s distinctive sound lies in the quality

of their own compositions interspersed with well-known traditional

tunes, a gripping rhythm section and sweet, charming vocals.

Originating in Achill Island, Co. Mayo, Annagh bring their fresh and

innovative brand of original and traditional tunes to The Dock as an

opening act for Goitse.  Featuring Sean Lynch, Michael Lavelle, Kevin

Gielty and Alan Hughes playing a combination of uilleann pipes, border

pipes, Scottish small pipes, flute, low whistles, strings and percussion,

they continue to develop their own unique style, bringing the music in

new directions.

maggie madden / JOhn Brady maggie madden :: Far and WideIn Maggie Madden’s work, a diverse array of collected materials are crafted into fragile

sculptural formations with geometric affinities. During the process of construction the

physical limits of the materials are taken into account, as there is an attempt made

at rendering some materials to appear almost weightless. Tension is created as the

sculptural formations often have a fragility that teeters on the brink of collapse.

Maggie Madden is from Connemara, Co Galway, currently living and working in Dublin.
