February, 2014. This conference will provide a great opportunity where the researchers,

academicians, practitioners and professional from industry meet to exchange their ideas and

experiences on related �elds with each other.

Keynote lectures and the invited talks by the eminent researchers are arranged in the

conference which will help the delegates from all across the country to explore novel areas of

research. Authors are invited to exchange ideas and to discuss the practical challenges encountered

and solution adopted in Materials, Manufacturing and Quality Control. The conference covers the

research areas under different themes related to the conference title. The papers received in the

conference will be reviewed by the technical review committee of the conference and the authors of

the accepted papers will be invited for presentation of the papers.

Bathinda is named after the Bhatti Rajput kings who ruled here for many years. It is

one of the oldest and historical city of Punjab due to Qila Mubarak, a historical monument, in the

heart of the city, where �rst woman emperor of India, Sultan Razia was imprisoned in 1239.

The city has come into prominence recently with the establishment of Guru Gobind

Singh Re�nery, Bathinda (a unit of HPCL-Mittal Energy Ltd.). From the industrial point of view, this

city has two thermal power plants, NFL plant, Vardhman Polytex Limited, transformer industry,

Verka Milk Plant etc. The government plans to construct a �ve star hotel, an international airport

and a world class cricket stadium in the city. The city is proud of having Central University of Punjab

& various government managed colleges of high repute. The city is well connected to the rest of the

country by rail and road.

About City Bathinda



About The Institute

GZS PTU Campus, Bathinda is the �rst Engineering institute established by the Punjab Government

as Government Engineering College, Bathinda and is spread over an area of 156.6 acres. The

foundation stone was laid by the then Governor of Punjab, His Excellency Sh. S.S. Ray on October 23,

1989. In 1992, it was given autonomous status and renamed as College of Engineering &

Technology, Bathinda. In 1996, in honour of ex-president of India Honorable Giani Zail Singh Ji, the

name of the institute was renamed as Giani Zail Singh College of Engineering & Technology,

Bathinda. The college has been upgraded as a constituent college of Punjab Technical University,

Jalandhar in 2011 and since then is known as Giani Zail Singh Punjab Technical University Campus,

Bathinda. This campus is running UG and PG courses in six engineering disciplines and UG course in

Architecture. After its up gradation, the new Courses MBA, MCA, M.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry and

Mathematics have been added. The campus has been granted the QIP centre and has awarded 10

scholarships to the PhD research scholars per annum w.e.f. 2012. 52 research scholars are pursuing

their PhD under the supervision of various faculty members of the institute. The Campus has been

selected for grant under Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-II) project,

in which �nancial assistance of Rs. 10 crores is to be provided. The campus is situated on Bathinda-

Dabwali road on national highway NH-64 about 5 kilometers away from city bus stand and 7

kilometers away from railway station.
