National Tree Day

As part of National Tree Day, the Dem’s K-2 gardening club worked with our local Bunnings store to promote Schools Tree Day on Friday 27 July. Bunnings provided not only their time but several bush tucker plants, bags of compost and organic soil for the vegetable gardens, two new raised garden beds, many packets of vegetable seeds and netting to prevent birds destroying the plants.

KAR and KDH worked together on this project and are very proud of their achievements. A huge thank you to the organisers at Bunnings Artarmon and to Miss Rosman for facilitating this activity.

If I receive another email we will be able to resume.

FABStar!

FABStar! is an initiative to recognise positive behaviours in the playground. A FABStar! slip was drawn from all the students who received FABstar! slips in recognition of their positive behaviour on the playground last week.

This week's K-2 Fabstar!s are Vihan and Akarsh from Year 1 who helped a teacher by fetching some bandaids for an injured student.

The 3-6 Fabstar!s this week are Danielle, Michael and Evie from Year 5. These students spent their break picking up rubbish and cleaning up our school. Thank you for setting such a wonderful example and for taking care of your environment.

LIBRARY NEWS

DONATE-A-BOOK: Thursday 9 August 8:30am to 12noon On Thursday 9 August (open classroom day during Education Week) the library will be hosting a DONATE A BOOK morning from 8:30am to 12noon. We will have a wonderful selection of books from a local book store for you to choose a book for your child to donate to the library. The book you choose will have your child's name inscribed in the front and she/he will be the first to borrow it. Although this book will be part of the library collection, it will be available for your child to enjoy in the library and borrow whenever they choose. It would be wonderful if you could pop into the library on Thursday 9 August morning and donate a book to our library.

Volunteer needed Friday mornings. The library is looking for a volunteer to help on a Friday morning for an hour. (9.00am to 10.00am) This would involve returning books from classes and some reshelving. If you are able to help please email Elizabeth Williams at [email protected] or pop into the library before or after school for a quick chat.
