As a professional copywriter; it is important to be available and have open line5 of communication.Below are the best options for reaching me:

• Monday thru Thursday from 4pm —8pm.• Or anytime; if you leave a message. I will return your call in a very timely manner.

3. Ongoing Communication is important during the entire process:• How often do you want to communicate on the project details.• What is the best form of communication for you.• A single point of contact on your team would be beneficial to keep the flow going and

will obtain needed information and approvals.

Discovery Questionnaire (DQ)As we begin to work together; I’ll send you a Discovery Questionnaire via email. The questionnaire helpsus both to understand your expectations of what I’ll be writing about and provides the scope of theproject before us.

Please answer the questions and return it to me as quickly as possible; between 2—4 business dayspreferred. I’ll review your responses to the questions in addition to any other information or material yousend me related to the project. I’ll put together a brief outline to clarify that we are on the same page inregard to the project you have in mind.

After you have had a chance to review the outline, we can schedule a 15- or 20-minute phone call to goover things more in depth. We can discuss any additional directions or insights you might have at thattime as well. Following the call, I will send a Proposal.

Proposal to ContractAfter our initial discussion, I’ll write up a proposal which will include a project description, deliverables,exclusions, due dates, writing fee5 and terms of payment and any other pertinent information.Basically, everything needed to complete the job. (Please Note: I require 50% of the project total inorder to begin. Some clients prefer to pay by bank wire or overnight payment.)

Filling out the DO will help us to determine how the project should proceed and what it will entail interms of research and any other data required. I’ll be able to understand the goals you have in mind andexactly what is needed for your project or campaign.

After you review the proposal, I’ll answer any questions you have. We can work together on anychanges you might need.

When you’re satisfied that the terms meet your needs, sign it and either mail or email it back to me.The signed agreement will serve as a contract between us, unless otherwise indicated. The agreementwill also set the due date for the final draft. Once payment is received and we have both signed theProposal Agreement, I will begin working on your copy.

The Project Scope and DetailsI’ll take any base materials and research suggestions you provide, plus my own research, and begincreating a project outline. I will contact you if I have any further questions or suggestions about theproject during this time. Prompt responses by both parties will help keep the project on track.

After I complete the rough draft, I usually set it aside for a day or two before reviewing and editingwith fresh eyes. Then I’ll send you the “first draft” for review.

Please check the draft for accuracy and add any revisions you might want to include. Remember thatalthough writing is essentially complete at this point, this first draft is not the final deliverable. The finaldeliverable(s) will include your feedback and changes.

Client Investment - Fee Payment Schedule, Kill Fees and Retainer AgreementsTo preserve integrity and continuity, I have a standardized Fee Schedule included in my info packet,which can be amended, if need be.

Retainer AgreementsMonthly payments to be made in full and in advance, before I can begin any work for that month.

Kill FeeIf you cancel or put the project on hold once work has begun, a kill fee may be applied. This fee is forcopywriting and/or research, which we define as creating text for promotional material from contentprovided by the client.

PaymentsIf payment is made by check or money order, it should be made out to Liz Nellis - DBA The CopywritingArchitect. Referencing the job in the check memo will help me properly credit your account. The check ormoney order should be mailed to the address at the top of this document.

Other payment options may be available, particularly for businesses outside the United States.Please contact me if you have a question about payment options. As mentioned above, after initialpayment has cleared, I can begin work.

Small Projects —

$1000 or less —full payment is due upfront before I begin research. If the project is cancelled beforecompletion, I retain half of the collected fee as a ‘kill fee” The remainder of the collected fee will berefunded to you (normally via check) within two to four weeks of the cancellation. If the project iscancelled after the work has been submitted to you, the remainder of the fee is not refundable.

Large Projects —

$1,001 and up — requires a 50% payment before work commences unless otherwise negotiated. Theremaining 50% will be due and payable upon delivery of the first draft or project due date, whichevercomes first. Note you can still request revisions, as described above.

As with smallerjobs, I will retain half of the total fee — the first payment — in the event the project iscancelled. This is to cover work and expenses already incurred.

ResearchResearch is a key function for every writing project; be it copywriting or landing page design. Myresearch process is very comprehensive:

• A complete review of everything you can provide about your company, current andprospective customers.

• A thorough audit of your website and any other materials you provide.• Extensive market research, including your competitors.• There may be a need to interview your customer service team, possibly past

clients/customers, and/or different department heads.• If needed, I will contact you for additional details, product samples, and/or other

resources.

You can be confident that my research will allow me to understand your product better, learn yourunique voice, and discover what core emotion drives your customers to make a purchase.

Reviews - Revisions and Drafts

Review of First Draft• Typically, you’ll receive the first draft within 7 — 10 business days (depending on

project size and scope).• Everyone involved will need to carefully review the first draft.• The main objective is to set up the message, tone and offer to verify things are sound

and correct.• We can fine tune in the next drafts (2 and/or 3r9 as needed.• To ensure integrity, the first draft will be in PDF mode. Print it, make any changes and

scan/email back to me.

RevisionsIf there are revisions needed, they must be requested no later than 30 days after the project hasbegun and prior to final approval.

• Two revisions are included in the quoted price that you will receive. Additionalrevisions will be charged accordingly.

• Review of your requested changes within 48 hours• Changes will be made in an additional 2—4 business days (depending upon the

complexity of revisions).• Keep in mind your suggested changes may not be favorable to that bottom line. The

results of your bottom line will be very telling in the market you’re trying to reach• If I feel that certain revisions won’t work in the market, but client insists; I will

suggest an A/B split to let the market decide.

Final Approval - Deliverables and RevisionsYou can request revisions one more time during the 30-day period after I deliver the drafts. Theserevisions may be minor (spelling, punctuation, minor changes to sentence or paragraphs) orintermediate (rewriting of some paragraphs or pages for clarity).

I will send you the final draft on or before the project due date. Since; up to this point we should haveprovided each other timely feedback, this draft should meet your expectations. After your finalapproval send me an email stating the project is ready for distribution.

If you require revisions after the 30-day period, we will negotiate an appropriate fee at that time. Allthat being said, it’s my goal for us to work together to meet your satisfaction. Just contact me andwe’ll discuss it to find an equitable solution.

• When all revisions have been completed to your satisfaction, you will receive a cleancopy of the final draft in a Word document so your Graphic Designer can make theirenhancements.

• You approve the copy via email stating “1 approve the copy for {Name of Project)”, withyour email signature.

• Once I receive your final approval, I’ll send the final invoice for the remaining 50%balance of the project.

• All invoices are due upon receipt.• Throughout the course of this project, I will be very diligent and prompt to meet

your every need as a professional.• It is my expectation that you will return the courtesy regarding my invoice, which

is greatly appreciated.• Usually my final copy is not the final product and is scheduled to be adjusted by

your graphic designer.• I strongly encourage you to forward a copy of the completed PDF to me. I would like

to make sure that the design enhances the copy rather than the opposite effect.• It’s my mission to ensure that the completed package is positively impactful.• At your request, I’ll be more than happy to work with the graphic design team to

ensure the copy’s ultimate effectiveness.

Once the project is done, provide all my clients a complimentary follow-up consultation if desired.It is helpful to evaluate: What went well? Where can improvements be made? Usually this can beaccomplished through a brief phone call.

We will also review the Discovery Questionnaire again and discuss additional copywriting projects thatlead to new profits. We can map out a new project to ensure that you continue to have excellent copythat meets your goals and grows your business.

Copyright ownership and promotional useYour writing project is for your use — of course! However, I retain all ownership rights until I receive andclearfinal payment. You may not use any of the material I’ve written until payment is made, unless we’veagreed otherwise.

For example, in retainer agreements (e.g., ongoing blog posts), you may use the material when youreceive it as long as our fee arrangement is upheld.

In any case, unless stated otherwise in our signed agreement, I retain the non-exclusive right to use anywork I produce for self-promotion of my copywriting business. In cases where my work is attributed toyou or one of your employees (“ghostwriting”), use of such works in my portfolio will be indirect (nomention of company name, no unscrambled URL5) or upon private request only.

Guarantee disclaimersNo reputable copywriter will make wild claims or guarantee specific results for any particular project.

There are too many factors involved that are beyond my control and yours.

But I will promise to work with you every step of the way, and to complete your project to the best ofmy ability and to your satisfaction, every time.

Legal disclaimerI’m not an attorney nor do I have any professional legal background. That being said, I can’t advise youon the legality of your products, claims and ideas. If I feel that something is questionable, I will bring itto your attention.

As owner and publisher of the work(s), the accuracy of information you provide me is yourresponsibility. This includes data about your product or service, and any other facts, figures or claims tobe used in my copy. The same goes for fact-checking the final deliverables.

As such, my fee agreement contains standard indemnity clauses. In essence, I can’t be held legallyresponsible for damages suffered by your customers as a result stemming from your offer or theinformation you provide.

Liz Nellis grew up the middle child in a family of 5 kids in a small town in the Chicago suburbs.Childhood was not a pleasant experience after “dad left without a trace for many years. Momdid her best and we knew we were loved. We learned to take care of each other no matter what.

In the days before computers and the Internet; she worked at and was certified as a Senior CertifiedNursing Assistant at an Elder Care facility. Her first foray into medical care and as it turned out;preparation for “dad” to resurface now that he was old and; as he told his friends; decided tobecome a burden to his children.

From there; it was an uneventful life with no clear path; until a visit to a psychic astrologist ledher down the writing path. According to her birth chart she was meant to be a writer. Thisboost in self-esteem led to writing poetry, working on several screenplay ideas and writing theprocedures manuals for several companies over the years where she just happened to be onstaff.

With the advent of the Personal Computer she found a new calling and embarked on a career inInformation Technology. At one of those jobs she had a good rapport with her new boss sowhen he left the company for a new position, he offered to take her with to the new company.The boss wanted his team of techs to have certifications in IT, so she was the first to take acourse to be A+ certified.

Looking ahead to a possible future promotion to the Networking team; she embarked on a pathto earn a college degree. As classes were completed, she earned certifications for differentaspects of networking. Finally coming away with an A.A.S as a Network Specialist andgraduating with high honors which made her mom so proud.

After working in IT for over 22 years she was looking for something more interesting andhelpful to the health of her family; she enrolled in the School of Natural Healing where sheachieved 2 certificates. With a background in herbal healthcare as a Certified Family Herbalistand Nutritional Herbologist, she has an inside track into the language of herbs and the bestremedies for whatever ails your clients or prospects.

PROPOSAL FOR ALLOTMENT OF SUMMER VACATION TIME

INTRODUCTION

PurposeThis proposal for the allotment of vacation time during the summer hours willallow employees to have time off during the slow months as well as to havecoverage if necessary for any projects that might arise.

ScopeThis report presents our study, a review of our findings, the advantage of vacationtime during summer, and the conclusions.

BACKGROUND

ProcedureAs school is out session during the summer months of June, July and August andthe techs receive wages even though there are no computer users to support, wehave discussed the dilemma during PC Tech meetings and while [here areoccasions when a project will come up and to be sure there is sufficient staffingwe have determined that each month of summer should be split between all PCTechs.

Our first step is to decide which techs will be taking vacation in June, which willbe taking time in July and the final techs to take time off in August. This willallow all techs to have a vacation and all techs will be back to work at the start ofthe new school year.

ProposalThe proposal is to determine how to split up the time during the down months ofsummer. We have considered the options and it has been decided that we shoulddo a lottery to choose which techs will be taking time off in June, which techs willbe taking the time in July and the last to take their vacation in August. As we have8 techs we will have the names of the three months on 3 slips of paper. The techwith the longest seniority will choose a slip of paper first and it will continue ondown the seniority ladder until all 8 techs have drawn a slip.

ConclusionThis plan seems to be the best way to provide vacation time to all techs while stillproviding support to the schools.
