National Vocations Awareness Week Did you know that in our country, compared to 50
years ago, there are 20,000 fewer priests and 129,000
fewer religious sisters? At the same time, the
Catholic population has continued to grow steadily.
Many factors have contributed to the decline:
growing secularism, a lengthened period of
adolescence, attitudes about celibacy, etc. During
Vocation Awareness week, please pray that young
people in today’s society will hear and respond to
God’s call. And do your part to encourage them to
consider priesthood and religious life.
Join the Invisible Monastery Pledge to pray for vocations at the international web
site www.invisiblemonastery.com. It was inspired by
a 2012 document from the Congregation for Clergy
urging Catholics to “organize and ‘invisible
monastery’ in which many persons, day and night,
are committed to continuous prayer for priestly
vocations.”
One Vocations Leads to Another “Let us not forget that Christian marriage is a
vocation to holiness in the full sense of the word, and
that the example of holy parents is the first condition
favorable for the flowering of priestly and religious
vocations.” ~Pope Benedict XVI
New Life – New Love The Parish rejoices with our young families who
celebrate the baptism of a child. Please be assured of
our prayers and support. We welcome our newest
parishioners.

National Vocations Awareness Week
Prayers of the Faithful During National Vocation Awareness Week, we
pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood
and consecrated life. We pray to the Lord.
For Catholic educators, that they can inspire
students to remain open to God’s call for their
lives. We pray to the Lord.
That young men from our parish will respond to
the Church’s tremendous need for priests. We
pray to the Lord.
That young women from our parish will remain
open to consecrating themselves to God as
religious sisters. We pray to the Lord.
That Christian parents, as they live their own
vocations to marriage, will encourage their
children to consider a vocation to the priesthood
or consecrated life. We pray to the Lord.
That seminarians have all the graces they need to
be formed into holy priests. We pray to the Lord.
For the priests and religious who have served our
parish, both living and dead. We pray to the
Lord.

Hi everyone!
This is the page for St Barnabas Life Teen. I’m
Peggy Harnisch your youth minister!!
If you’ve never been to a Youth Ministry night, we love you to try it
out! email Peggy for info!!
Hi Everyone! Today (Sunday) is All Souls Day.
This is a great day in our Church designed to
pray for all of the souls of the people who have died.
I think for our youth this day gets lost among so
much going on. As a society we just celebrated
Halloween.
November 1st is All Saints Day. On this day
we remember all of those who are in heaven, both
our canonized and not canonized saints. One of the
greatest traditions we have as Catholics is to pray for
the dead. When we do this we are really praying for
those in Purgatory, or those waiting to get to heaven.
All Souls Day remembers all of those people. Those
already in heaven do not need us to pray for them as
they are already with God.
This weekend, let’s all say some prayers for
those who have gone ahead of us and pray that they
are soon in Heaven! The beginning of the first
reading for All Souls Day is a great hope from God
for all of us!
The souls of the just are in the hand of God,
and no torment shall touch them. They seemed,
in the view of the foolish, to be dead; and
their passing away was thought an affliction
and their going forth from us, utter destruction.
But they are in peace. ~ Wis. 3:1-3
Have a blessed week!
~Peggy
