The LORD is gracious and merciful,

slow to anger and abounding in steadfast

love. The LORD is good to all, and his

compassion is over all that he has made.

Psalm 145: 8-9

God’s patience is an amazing thing to

behold. God watches over all of creation.

God sees all the things we do to each

other. God hears every word we utter.

Yet God still loves us unconditionally.

There are times we do not do much to

earn God’s love and compassion. It truly

is a gift and there when we need it most.

God judges our hearts and not our

actions. God does not care about how

often we are in church or how many times

we sin in a given week. God cares about

our condition. So God simply watches us

and how we live. How did we reconcile

our sin with God? How did we behave in

a tense situation when our faith was

tested? Do our actions in the world show

us to be a child of God and worthy of

belonging to the Lord?

We need to remember that we are an

example to the world. God appointed us

stewards of creation and it is up to us to

care for the world in all its core parts. It

means interacting with people we may

not like but it is incumbent on us to be

like Christ in all we say and do. God is

watching and full of love. Share that love

with a stranger today.

Blessings,

Jason

Happy National Ice Cream Sandwich

Day! Observed each year on August 2,

this food holiday is one that will

refresh each one of us on a warm

summer day with a delicious frozen

ice cream sandwich. The original ice

cream sandwich sold for a penny in

1900 from a pushcart in the Bowery

neighborhood of New York.

Eileen Ames is now home from the

hospital. She returned yesterday. We

send continued prayers of healing as

she continues to recuperate at home.

This Sunday, August 6 we will host

a Farewell Come & Go Brunch for

breads, breakfast casseroles or other

Please stay a few minutes after

worship to help us set up some of the

games we have in storage.

Dear Friends,

It was so wonderful to receive the many prayer

cards, prayers, phone calls, visits and food while I

recuperated from my

fall. You all are very

special people to me.

Thank You very much,

Alveta

Dear First Christian Church,

Thank you just doesn’t seem adequate to let

you all know how very much I appreciate your

continued prayers over the past several months.

The prayer cards are such a joy to receive. I read & reread

them and am constantly reminded I’m not in this alone.

Not only do I have the Lord on my side, but thanks to all

of you I have brothers & sisters in Christ lifting me up in

prayer. For that I will always be grateful.

Debbie Conkling
